Does passing on peanuts really mean Kate Middleton is pregnant?

The pregnancy rumor mill began turning hard last week when the 29-year-old Duchess declined to sample peanut paste during a UNICEF visit to Denmark.

Although Kate Middleton is not allergic to peanuts, pregnant women are often advised to avoid peanut products to prevent allergies in their babies-to-be. So ...

Naturally, coupled with the belly touching seen below, this sparked major royal baby speculation. But a royal insider says (shockingly) it may not be the case.

"She's not comfortable eating in front of cameras," the insider said. "What if she didn't like it and made a face? That expression would then be on every newspaper."

What a fair, valid and seemingly obvious explanation. No fun!

A spokesman for the couple says that the policy is "to never confirm or deny [pregnancy] rumors," but a palace insider insists: "If and when there is an announcement to make, officially, it will be made by the palace as soon as it's safe to."

Long story short ... don't hold your breath for it anytime soon.

Is Kate Middleton pregnant? People sure seem to think so.

Whether there's anything to the rumors, we can't say, but just days after she ignited Bump Watch 2011 by declining peanut paste - a food expectant mothers are told to avoid - new photos have emerged of Kate (gasp!) holding her stomach!

Also interestingly, the Palace has yet to deny the rumors.

Visiting a UNICEF distribution center in Copenhagen, Denmark, last week, Kate was seen patting and rubbing her midsection, which was covered by a chic red coat.

"It was very odd," an onlooker at the UNICEF event told the Daily Mail.

"Kate would not stop touching her tummy. It was very noticeable. She continually patted it and held her hands against it. She must have been doing it without realizing, and at one point she had both her hands cradling her stomach."

The Kate Middleton pictures above don't prove anything, but until there is an official comment, the buzz surrounding the Duchess' womb will likely continue unabated.

If she is pregnant right now, he or she will rule.

Is Kate Middleton pregnant? The Duchess has ignited speculation that she is expecting once again after a visit to a UNICEF distribution center in Copenhagen, Denmark.

With Prince William at her side, Kate avoided a certain food product as they sampled items from UNICEF aid packages sent to famine-stricken East African countries.

While members of the Danish royal family and William tasted peanut paste, Kate politely refused and reportedly gave her husband of six months a knowing look.

Doctors have frequently recommended pregnant women avoid peanuts and byproducts while expecting in order to help prevent allergies in their babies-to-be.

What's more, The Palace itself even "went out of their way to stress that she has no nut allergy whatsoever," an editor for Britain's The Sun told ABC News.

Whenever William and Kate Middleton welcome their first child, he or she will inherit the throne. The rules were changed to allow a first-born daughter to rule.

If they have a girl first, that is. The UK monarchy recently agreed that a first-born girl should be able to ascend the throne even if she has younger brothers.

Still, pregnancy speculation or not, Middleton is certainly not displaying any bump just yet; Britain's Best Dressed was slim and stylish as ever in Denmark.

Congratulations ... maybe!

She receives tens of thousands of fan letters because she's a classy young woman by all accounts, and her every move inspires endless speculation because she's a Duchess, but Kate Middleton's fashion sense is also widely praised.

So much so, Harper's Bazaar just named her Britain's Best Dressed woman!

Despite being criticized by some her quite old-fashioned look, conservative wardrobe choices and love of hosiery, Kate Middleton topped the list for 2011.

The Duchess of Cambridge single-handedly made the ladylike look trendy again - not bad for a girl who professes to have little or no interest in clothes.

Harper's Bazaar selected 20 women who continue to represent the best of British style - be it elegant, trend-setting, traditional or totally unpredictable.

Kate beat out the stylish likes of Florence Welch, Tilda Swinton, Keira Knightley, Stella McCartney, Alexa Chung and her own little sister Pippa Middleton.

How popular are the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge?

Do we even have to answer that question at this point?

Prince William and Kate Middleton have received about 60,000 letters and cards of goodwill from members of the public since their engagement nearly a year ago.

The number of messages peaked again around the time of the royal wedding in April - and the coolest thing about it is that a return address guarantees a reply.

Heirs to the Throne

"There was everything from posters made by classes of schoolchildren to cards sent by other members of the public," says a Palace aide of the letters to the royals.

A group of junior girl guides - called Rainbows - in Glasgow sent a congratulations card, and then got word that the Duke and Duchess were "immensely touched."

Workers in the couple's office in St. James's Palace are still going through all the letters and cards in a bid to answer them, which they say they do ... eventually.

"It will take quite a while for the small team to get to answer them all, but everyone gets a reply if there is a return address," says a Palace aide of the fan mail.

Sadly, it is not known if Pippa Middleton responds to date requests.

It's official. Following a change in ascension rules, boy or girl, the first child of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be the next heir to the British throne.

The leaders of the 16 governments with Queen Elizabeth II as their head of state have unanimously agreed to change the laws in their realms to allow this.

Under current laws, the immediate heir is the first-born son of the monarch. Going forward, the immediate heir will be the first-born child of the monarch.

That means if Prince William and Kate Middleton have a girl as their first child, she will be the future queen, regardless of whether one or more sons follow.

British Prime Minister David Cameron said, "Put simply, if the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge were to have a little girl, that girl would one day be our queen."

Cameron personally applauded the move, adding that the UK stresses gender equality in all facets of life, making this a logical change to their traditions.

Queen Elizabeth II's son, Prince Charles, is next in line for the throne, followed by Will. The royal hunk will be the king of more than a dozen countries.

Those nations are Britain, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, Papua New Guinea, St. Christopher & Nevis, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, Tuvalu, Barbados, Grenada, Solomon Islands, St. Lucia and the Bahamas.

The Duchess of Cambridge is officially a royal now.

With less than 24-hours notice, Kate Middleton successfully carried out her first official solo engagement Wednesday by standing in for her father-in-law.

Prince Charles was supposed to attend a charity dinner in London, but had to travel to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to pay respects to the late Crown Prince.

So in stepped the princess. Not a bad Plan B!

A palace aide told the BBC that Kate’s engagement went "very well."

"The Duchess of Cambridge was delighted to be able to step in for her father-in-law, the Prince of Wales, to celebrate the work of In Kind Direct at the dinner."

"She was so pleased that her first solo engagement was for the Prince of Wales, who has shown her so much support over the years," he added.

The always stylish 29-year-old wife of Prince William wore a pale empire-line dress at the reception, which was attended by about 30 guests.

Way to go, Kate!

The Duchess is a woman of her word.

Visiting London's Royal Marsden Hospital last month, Kate Middleton met with several young cancer patients, one of whom was 9-year-old Fabian Bate.

During their chat, he informed Kate that his family kept a blog, and Middleton vowed to pay it a visit and leave a message. She did, and then some.

Catherine M.

Prince William's wife sent out a personalized and heartwarming letter to Fabian, who was diagnosed with leukemia in 2006, which he in turn posted online.

"Despite the enormously demanding course of treatment, I was so touched by your strength of character, and delighted to hear the news that one of your big sisters will be able to donate bone marrow to you later this year," she wrote.

"I will keep my fingers crossed that your health goes from strength to strength over the months ahead," continued Kate. "This must be a troubling time for you, your parents and your sisters, but I know I left The Royal Marsden assured by how incredibly talented, kind and clever the team at the hospital are."

If Kate Middleton and Prince William have a daughter as their first child, she will be next in line for the throne even if a boy follows, according to new rules.

That would not be the case as of this moment.

With The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge in the loop, plans are afoot by Prime Minister David Cameron's government to change existing ascension policy.

Will, Kate

As current English royal law stands, if William and Kate's first child is a daughter but their second is a son, the boy would henceforth inherit the throne.

Cameron and other UK leaders are hoping to change this and several other ancient rules in order to bring the monarchy up to date with modern times.

He has already written the governments in the Commonwealth of countries ruled by the monarchy. The rule change will have to be ratified by all 16.

Rumors of Kate Middleton covering Vogue magazine ran rampant last month, but the photo shoot never materialized. Was Queen Elizabeth II responsible for that?

Yes and no. The Queen never said anything, but she didn't have to.

Palace insiders say Kate Middleton knows HM would be far from pleased about the Duchess dressing up in haute couture just so Anna Wintour could cash in.

  • Kate is Great

"Kate is keenly conscious that while her new grandmother-in-law may not chide her for appearing on a Vogue cover. But she would definitely not be amused," said a source.

"Her Majesty is a genius at making people squirm with simply a look or a 'tut, tut.' "

The royal source went on to add that while Kate Middleton and Prince William are free to be interviewed or photographed by whomever they choose, they are trying to downplay the self-promotion of Kate as a fashion or style icon.

"They are flattered by the attention but tat's not what they are about and they take their royal duties far too seriously to, in one sense, trivialize them," said the insider.

Kate may be a princess under pressure, but so far, she's handled it superbly.
