For every outrageous Lady Gaga and Nicki Minaj fashion clash, there's a more conventional Kate Beckinsale-Carrie Underwood showdown waiting to be voted upon.
Thank goodness for that.
No offense to Gaga or Nicki, but we thought both Kate and Carrie were among the couture champions on the red carpet at Sunday's Grammy Awards.
Then again, it's hard for either of them to look bad in anything. Case in point: The actress' short white dress and the singer's sparkly blue full-length gown.

But the moment of the night on the 2012 Golden Globe Awards telecast belonged to Seth Rogen, who walked on stage to present an award alongside Kate Beckinsale - considered the Sexiest Woman Alive by some - and told the audience he was trying to conceal a "massive erection." Is the actress beautiful? Of course. But we argued that Megan Fox should be permanently awarded this honor until senility set in.

We get it, Esquire. You wanna be different.
For months, there's been non-stop talk about the hotness of Megan Fox. Incessant yammering abot how much money men would pay to see Olivia Wilde nude. Quiet whispers that Kate Gosselin is growing more gorgeous by the day.
Okay, we may have made the last one up, but the overall point remains the same: when it comes to discussion about the best looking females alive, there's little variety.
Hence, we're sure, Esquire's decision to name British actress Kate Beckinsale as the Sexiest Woman Alive. It's cool to be different, but come on.
At least make it seem like you believe what you claim. Beckinsale is perfectly attractive, but there are plenty other women by whom we'd prefer to be ridden. Do you agree?
