Justin Bieber is heading back to the television world. But we doubt he'll be gunned down in the street this time.

The singing sensation has booked a guest-starring role on The Simpsons, as producer Al Jean confirms to Entertainment Weekly that Bieber will portray himself in a 2013 episode titled "The Fabulous Faker Boy."

How and why, exactly, does the 18-year old show up in Springfield?

“He tries to get into a talent show that Bart is playing piano in and they won’t admit him,” the producer says, simply adding: “Draw your own conclusions.”

Jean emphasizes that the role is merely a "cameo," but does tell all who possess Bieber Fever: You "should watch every minute of the show, before and after he’s on.”

This animated smash kicks off its 24th season on September 30 and other celebrities who will lend voices to episodes include Edward Norton, Steve Carell, Zooey Deschanel, Anne Hathaway and Natalie Portman.

The singer, who appeared on the September season premiere of CSI as troubled teen Jason McCann, will reprise this role on February 17. On an episode titled "Targets of Obsession," Bieber's character will contact George Eads's Nick because he's in "imminent danger," according to a network press release.

The guest-starring stint will coincide with the release of Never Say Never, the Justin biopic that hits theaters on February 11.
