Selena Gomez has received numerous death threats from misguided Justin Bieber fans who apparently don't want their favorite singer to be happy.

Is the artist scared in the moment sometimes, when such nasty messages are sent her way? We'd have to believe so. But asked about her boyfriend's enthusiastic supporters during an interview with Baltimore radio station Z104.3 this week, the 19-year-old came across quite mature and understanding.

"It's a little odd, but I understand it completely," Selena said. "It's amazing to me to see how many passionate fans there are. So obviously, you've just got to think of the fans first, and that's okay."

Gomez and Bieber both rang in 2012 from Times Square, with the former belting out a performance as soon as the clock struck midnight.

Selena admits it's "kind of" annoying that she and her young man can't share the same fans, but added it's "kind of cool we have our own individual [fans]."

The biggest artists performed live on one of the biggest stages possible last night.

To ring in the new year from Times Square, in front of over one million live revelers, Lady Gaga performed a medley of hits "Heavy Metal Lover,” “Marry the Night” and “Born This Way.

Justin Bieber, meanwhile, left his own mark on the end of 2011, taking to a stage in the middle of the audience and covering a Beatles classic along with guitarist Carlos Santana. Listen to their version of "Let It Be" now:

But Bieber wasn't done. The artist teamed with Jaden Smith and Tweeted a special gift to followers: this video of him and his hip hopping pal coming together for a track they simply refer to as "Happy New Year."

One may be the most popular young singer alive, and the other may have helped anchor the highest-grossing movie franchise in Hollywood history, but Justin Bieber and Emma Watson themselves take a backseat in a new poll published by The Wall Street Journal.

  • Adorable Emma Watson

According to that newspaper, Bieber and Watson possess the "most influential" hair in all the land.

“Hairstylists are being inundated with requests” by clients that want to resemble these stars, the publication reports. “The enthusiasm plays out online, where the fastest-rising searches for celebrity haircuts on Google are for Ms. Watson and Mr. Bieber.”

Justin Bieber and his family can breathe a sigh of relief today, after the singer's grandparents were involved in a somewhat serious car accident.

According to the Ontario Provincial Police in Perth County, Bieber's maternal grandfather, Bruce, and maternal grandmother, Diane, were driving outside of Toronto when they ran into an icy section of the road and slammed into a ditch. Their car actually rolled over and flipped 360 degrees, landing back on its wheels.

Justin Bieber Hits a High Note

"Count your blessings & forgive ur parents always," Pattie Mallette, Justin's mom, Tweeted this afternoon. "U never know what tomorrow holds!!!"

Amen, Mrs. Mallette. Now, if you'll excuse us, we have to call home.

We'd rather have a Mustang convertible, but this isn't an awful consolation gift.

Justin Bieber debuted a new single this week, telling those in attendance at his Home for the Holidays convert at Massey Hall in Canada, that the track may be included on his next album.

It's titled "Be Alright" and, as Justin says simply in the following video, it's a "love song," one meant to convey a message to one's significant others: in the end, no matter how bad things get, everything is gonna be alright.

Watch/listen now and then sound off: What do you think?

We already know that Justin Bieber is an incredible boyfriend.

Turns out, he's a pretty awesome best friend, too.

Consider what Justin gave childhood BFF Ryan Butler: a Mustang convertible! The pal, who had a cameo in the video for "One Time," Tweeted a photo of the gift Monday night, along with the message: "Justin got me a present. #swag!!!"

As for Bieber? He's been chilling at home in Canada, as the superstar chimed in via Twitter on Christmas Eve: "spending time with family - feels really good."

He also presented fans with these two videos on Christmas Day. Granted, we'd rather have had a new car, but still.

Justin Bieber delivered double the Christmas goodness to fans yesterday, appearing a couple of times on television during the joyous occasion.

First, our fifth most newsworthy celebrity of the year performed at the annual Disney World Christmas Parade, belting out two of his new holiday hits: "Mistletoe" and "Santa Clause is Coming to Town." Give them a listen now:

Bieber also greeted professional basketball fans when they tuned in for the NBA's first day of action, as he and Ludacris opened the full slate of games with a rendition of "Drummer Boy" that was interspersed by highlights of Derrick Rose, Kobe Bryant and company.

The X Factor crowned its first-ever U.S. champion last night... but it took two hours to do so.

Indeed, Melanie Amaro did not hear the great news until many acts had taken the stage, foremost among them a certain blonde-haired 17-year old.

Justin Bieber sang in the holiday via a pair of classics. First, he teamed with iconic artist Stevie Wonder on "Chestnuts Roasting." Then, he made the dreams of Drew Ryniewicz come true by asking her to close out "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" along his side on stage. Watch below to see both covers, including Justin getting his major dance on for the second...

Prepare to absolutely met, Beliebers.

Justin Bieber took a break from filming a holiday special in Toronto last night to sit and chat with his number-one fan: little sister Jazmyn.

The singer asked the three-year old what she wanted to be when she grew up (answer: bigger), exchanged a couple "I love yous," made the crowd gasp on more than one occasion with his sheer adorableness and then broke into a quick rendition of "Baby" on stage. Watch now and try not to squeal too loudly:
