"Gonna take some time," the singer wrote this evening, adding nothing to the message and not updating his account since.

It's safe to assume, of course, that Bieber is reacting to the last night's reception at the Billboard Music Awards, where he was audibly booed while accepting a trophy.

In the most stunning takeaway from last night's Billboard Music Awards, Justin Bieber was booed by the crowd when accepting the Chevrolet-sponsored Milestone Award.

But perhaps audience members would have gone easier on The Biebs if they had known where he was Friday:

At Whitney Elementary School in Las Vegas. Making a surprise appearance to hand out food donations. And pledging to fill the school's cupboards for a year.

Growing up, "my mom and I went to food banks, so being able to help now is amazing," Bieber told Today of the visit. "I just want to make people happy."

Contrary to earlier reports, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez did not sit next to each other at last night's Billboard Music Awards.

But the estranged couple did greet each other with a peck on the cheek backstage. Much to the chagrin of Taylor Swift.

In a gif making its way around the Internet, Selena and Justin stop for a friendly, semi-romantic gesture... only for Taylor to catch a peek of her bestie and Bieber and react in hilariously disgusted fashion.

All three artists also performed at the ceremony, as Swift sang 22, Bieber sang Take You and Gomez sang Come & Get It.

But why do we have a feeling all anyone will be talking about today is the actions of these three backstage, not on the stage?

Justin Bieber took home the first-ever Milestone Award at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards last night.

He then stirred up some controversy with his acceptance speech.

After simply standing at the mic and soaking in the applause, Bieber went on to say he's only 19 years old and "I think I'm doing a pretty good job."

Then, clearly referring to such recent controversies at alleging spitting on his neighbor, Justin went on to say focus should be on his "craft," not his actions.

"This is not a gimmick," he added. "I'm an artist and I should be taken seriously and all this other bull should not be spoken of."

Ian Somerhalder split with Nina Dobrev last week and then was accused of cheating on the actress.

But he took Twitter this weekend not to address that personal situation, but to call out Justin Bieber for a bit of monkey business.

With Bieber being asked to pay for his pet Mally - who was seized by German customs after Justin entered that country for a concert and is now in an animal shelter, her fate unknown - the beloved actor and animal enthusiast called out Bieber yesterday.

"@justinbieber i hope the welfare of this animal is a priority for you.Its on you to set a good example man," Somerhalder wrote.

On the heels of being named the most unfavorable singer in the country, Bieber has been told he must shell out a few thousand dollars if he ever wants to see his pet monkey again.

In March, German custom officials in Munich quarantined the animal because it was illegal to bring him into the country. He's been residing in a local shelter for the past two months.

It looks like Justin Bieber is doing a lot more than expressing his love for Nelson Mandela while in South Africa.

The singer posted a photo to Instagram yesterday of himself and a friend taking advantage of the younger drinking age in that nation, toasting the camera with an Amstel and including with the image a caption that reads:

"Beers in the jungle."

Bieber, of course, has come under fire in the past for smoking marijuana, promising fans after photos surfaced that he would "be better."

A can of beer hardly qualifies as a major ethical violation, but considering almost all his followers are underage in the States, was sending out this picture really a good idea?

Justin Bieber may be facing prosecution for an alleged battery incident in February, and the European leg of "Believe" may have hit a few speed bumps, but the singer is still looking ahead to the future.

And that future will apparently include even more tour dates!

The 19-year-old superstar Tweeted Thursday that his team has "confirmed more tour dates around the world," adding: "#BELIEVEtour is coming. Get ready."
