Musicians are forever pushing the envelope, honing their crafts, stretching their limits.

Or they're just trying to get as many #1 hits as possible in order to sell more records and make more money to buy big cribs with multi-car garages and basketball courts in the basement.

To that end, artists frequently collaborate with other artists to experiment with style and sound. Sometimes they cross the genre lines and what results is... unexpected.

Nearly an entire season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta was dedicated to Kandi Burruss' quest for songwriting credits in Country music and she teamed up with Sara Evans to make it happen.

Some of these collaborations are wildly more successful than others, but when rap meets country or when pop meets metal, it feels weird. So weird it's good.

Here are 11 weird musical collaborations that totally work. Get ready to groove!

Katy Perry and Juicy J - Dark Horse
Academy Award winner Juicy J's inclusion on Katy Perry's "Dark Horse" made the song sure to be a hit instead of a, well, dark horse.

Katy Perry's just released video for "Dark Horse" is what a trip through what Ancient Egypt might have looked like... if you were on acid.

"Memphis, Egypt: a crazy long time ago..." reads the title card. Crazy is right.

It's like all her extras wandered off the set of the next Hunger Games movie. Katy must be representing whatever district handles naked snake wrangling. And pole dancing.

Which part is better: When she gets super mad over what appear to be crunchy Cheetos or when she turns the dude into sand so she can steal his bejeweled grill?

Or maybe Jiff the Pomeranian's cameo? Because nothing says "ancient Egypt" like a fluffy dog famous on the internet.

"Dark Horse," which features Academy Award winner Juicy J, is the third single of Katy's album Prism.

The video is quite a change from her goth-inspired Grammy performance earlier this year, though both are equally bizarre...

Katy Perry appeared at Sunday night's Grammy Awards broadcast to perform "Dark Horse," her latest hit song and a collaboration with rapper Juicy J.

That's Academy Award winner Juicy J, as we were reminded last night.

While Katy's live singing is never her strength, she definitely doesn't lip-sync, and she knows how to make up for any vocal shortcomings with theatrics.

Inside a crystal ball as the song began, donning a provocative, gothic ensemble throughout and standing in front of a fire at the end, she gave us an eyeful.

Watch Katy Perry's 2014 Grammys performance below and see ...

A not-cheaply-produced feast for the senses. That's Katy for you.

Perry received two 2014 Grammy nominations for "Roar," the hit single off her latest album, Prism, which was not eligible for consideration as a whole.

It missed this year's deadline, but look for it at next year's show.

What did you think of Katy's performance? Did she hold her own with her peers? Other head-turning live efforts at last night's much-watched broadcast:

With Miley Cyrus pregnant rumors heating up the Internet, this 20-year old star has taken to Twitter and essentially responded to chatter of her carrying Juicy J's child with one word:

HA!

Sources told a totally random website this week that Miley and Juicy announced the news of their impending baby at Saturday's Hip Hop Awards in Atlanta.

And, despite the unconfirmed and unreliable nature of this report, Twitter quickly exploded, with users wondering how Miley could cheat on Liam Hemsworth and reacting in shock over her irresponsible decision-making.

Except the rumor is totally and completely untrue, of course.

According to a scandalous new report, Miley Cyrus doesn't just ride around on a wrecking ball naked.

She also rides Juicy J, without a condom or birth control of any kind. Yes, Miley Cyrus is pregnant!!!

If you somehow believe random gossip website Creambmp (dot) com, that is.

That outlet claims Miley and Juicy made the announcement on Saturday at the Hip Hop Awards, with Billy Ray Cyrus even chiming in ("She really broke my achy breaky heart," the singer supposedly said of his daughter's expecting state) and Cyrus allegedly telling the doubters around her:

No, I’m really pregnant!

By now we all know Miley Cyrus can Twerk, so whatever.

And she can definitely grind all up on Robin Thicke's crotch.

Riding around nude on a wrecking ball, too, is no problem for this artist!

But can this 20-year old rap?!? Decide for yourself below.

Miley, who promises naughtier things are still to come, has teamed with Juicy J and Wiz Khalifa on "23," kicking it off with a verse about being in the club, "high off purp."

Pretty standard fare these days for Miley Cyrus.
