Jorge Nunez tried out for American Idol's eighth season in San Juan.
He sang sang the song "My Way" in Spanish at first and then followed it with "What a Wonderful World" in English for his audition. All four judges agreed that this 20-year old college student deserved a ticket to Hollywood.
Nunez is a college student from Carolina, Puerto Rico. Randy Jackson referred to his initial audition as "brilliant."
He was voted through to the finals after an incredible semifinal performance that caused him to shed tears after universal praise from the panel.

hes not from Carolina, well he lives there but only for college he is actually from Cidra, Puerto Rico and studies at University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras

That's true... He is representing our island and that is the most important factor. I am sure that he will do great.

He is the greatest artist to come out of the island in years and what an honor to all Puertoricans for him to be there. How come I haven't seen anything about him in the local PR media?

Cantas precioso. Todos en nuestra casa te estamos apoyando con nuestros votos. Demuestra lo BORICUA que eres y deja una imagen positiva de nuestra bella isla y de la UPR porsupuesto (mi Alma Mater). Trata de hablar mas ingles para que te ganes el publico americano. Demuestra que tambien puedes hablar ingles, y del acento al hablar no te preocupes eso no es importante. EXITO Y ADELANTE.
