Pop music’s strangest and maybe hottest on-again/off-again couple is off again. Katy Perry and John Mayer are over, and this time it looks like for good.
The couple began dating in early August and split after just a few weeks. They got back together a few weeks later but that reconciliation didn't last either.
"John just can’t commit, and he kept luring Katy back with promises that was going to change, but didn’t. Katy was pretty crazy about John Mayer," says a source.

They say the media made it more serious than it ever was, but in any case it is now over. The two singers are no longer dating, a source confirmed.
"They will end up as friends," the insider says. "They were honestly just hanging out and having fun. People made it out to be far more than it was."
Katy Perry and John Mayer recently had dinner at the Chateau Marmont, an animal-filled birthday bash at a Hollywood agent's home, and "sleepovers." Supposedly.
It seemed like a good match, according to an observer: "They acted like they've been a couple for a long time ... It definitely didn't seem like a new relationship."
Perry is recently divorced from Russell Brand, and dated Florence + the Machine guitarist Robert Ackroyd earlier this year before parting ways as friends.
Mayer's exes include Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jessica Simpson, Jennifer Aniston, Minka Kelly and now Katy Perry. We must be missing something here.
