Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret is a Lifetime movie of the first-degree, a true crime story ripped from the headlines and sensationalized for your entertainment.

But is it any good? Therein lies the problem. Dirty Little Secret reveals scant few secrets, and leaves one wondering if the film was released too soon.

Just last month, an Arizona jury found Jodi Arias guilty of killing her former lover, motivational speaker Travis Alexander, in unspeakable fashion.

Arias unpersuasively argued that she killed him in self-defense, when police believed she came at him in a jealous rage, stabbing him 30 times.

Dirty Little Secret was clearly fast-tracked into production, and was filming while Arias was still on trial for the 2008 murder of Alexander this spring.

As such, Lifetime provides us with a straightforward tale of passion gone awry which, while compelling, pales in comparison to the real-life court saga.

A Phoenix jury Thursday declared that it could not agree on whether to recommend the death penalty or life in prison for convicted murderer Jodi Arias.

She was recently found guilty of slaying her lover, Travis Alexander.

Arias in Court

Jodi Arias, dressed in black, tearfully held her hand to her face as the jury's decision was read. She has said that she'd welcome the death penalty.

She won't get it from this jury. At least not yet. Superior Court Judge Sherry Stephens set a June 20 hearing to prepare for a penalty-phase retrial.

The mistrial doesn't undermine Jodi Arias' guilty verdict or murder conviction. This phase is totally separate and devoted only to her punishment.

A new jury, possibly in a different city, will be asked to hear testimony only on the penalty issue, unless the prosecutors were to offer her a plea deal.

The prosecution announced that it will weigh its options.

Should Jodi Arias get the death penalty?

A jury found Jodi Arias eligible for the death penalty yesterday in court.

That doesn't mean she's necessarily getting it, but it's the first step.

Arias Guilty

The same jury that found Jodi Arias guilty of murder last week took less than three hours to determine that the former waitress is eligible for the death penalty.

The swift verdict sets the stage for the final phase of the trial to determine whether the 32-year-old should be sentenced to life in prison or the death penalty.

In question is the 2008 slaying of Travis Alexander.

"Everyone watched it, we had a TV on set and we stopped filming," Arturio Interian, VP of Original Movies for Lifetime Entertainment Services, said.

"It was a very quiet moment. It's a very real and painful story, and we can't forget that a young man was needlessly killed and Jodi threw her life away too."

"Tania Raymonde, the actress who is playing Jodi, was stunned."

Minutes after a jury rendered its verdict Wednesday, finding Jodi Arias guilty of first-degree murder, she said she'd rather be executed if given the choice.

In the 32-year-old's mind, it beats the heck out of life in prison.

"The worst outcome for me would be natural life," she says.

Jodi Arias Guilty

"I believe death is the ultimate freedom, so I'd rather have my freedom as soon as I can get it," Arias told FOX10 in Phoenix of her desire to be killed.

Jodi Arias went on to say that, since she is not a smoker and longevity runs in her family, she could expect many years in prison if she got a life term.

The verdict is in, and Jodi Arias has been found guilty of murder.

A jury found that she killed ex Travis Alexander in cold blood.

Jodi Arias: Guilty!

Jordi Arias showed little emotion as the decision was read by a court clerk. As the jurors were polled, each affirming the guilty verdict, she fought back tears.

Outside the Arizona courtroom, the gathered crowd cheered.

Alexander's family hugged each other after the verdict was read, a measure of closure at last after a grisly death and a sensational criminal proceeding.

Sometimes a girl's gotta look good.

A new video shows murder suspect Jodi Arias - in handcuffs, and in a police interrogation room - primping her hair before her mug shot was taken.

The video, culled from surveillance tapes in June 2008, shows Arias wearing a dark shirt and light-colored pants while sitting on the floor, pre-mug shot.

Rubbing her eyes and whipping her head back to ensure her hair isn’t cascading over her eyes, she wants to make sure her booking photo is top notch.

Jodi Arias left a cheerful voicemail, and sent both a text message and a long email to Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008 ... after she had killed him.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez showed this to the jury Thursday in ending his cross-examination of Jodi Arias, who is charged with first-degree murder.

On the upbeat voicemail Arias left hours after leaving Alexander’s body in his shower, she shot the breeze for a bit, then invited him to see Othello with her.

"Let me know. Talk to you soon. Bye!” she concluded.
