That doesn't mean she's necessarily getting it, but it's the first step.

The swift verdict sets the stage for the final phase of the trial to determine whether the 32-year-old should be sentenced to life in prison or the death penalty.

In question is the 2008 slaying of Travis Alexander.

An Arizona jury found Jodi Arias guilty of first-degree murder in the death of Travis Alexander, bringing to a close what became a sensational trial.

"Everyone watched it, we had a TV on set and we stopped filming," Arturio Interian, VP of Original Movies for Lifetime Entertainment Services, said.

"It was a very quiet moment. It's a very real and painful story, and we can't forget that a young man was needlessly killed and Jodi threw her life away too."

Minutes after a jury rendered its verdict Wednesday, finding Jodi Arias guilty of first-degree murder, she said she'd rather be executed if given the choice.

In the 32-year-old's mind, it beats the heck out of life in prison.

"The worst outcome for me would be natural life," she says.

"I believe death is the ultimate freedom, so I'd rather have my freedom as soon as I can get it," Arias told FOX10 in Phoenix of her desire to be killed.

Jodi Arias went on to say that, since she is not a smoker and longevity runs in her family, she could expect many years in prison if she got a life term.

Alexander's family hugged each other after the verdict was read, a measure of closure at last after a grisly death and a sensational criminal proceeding.

Murder suspect Jodi Arias, in Tweets sent out through a friend, admitted that she’s contemplated suicide and would have accepted a plea deal “years ago.”

A new video shows murder suspect Jodi Arias - in handcuffs, and in a police interrogation room - primping her hair before her mug shot was taken.

The video, culled from surveillance tapes in June 2008, shows Arias wearing a dark shirt and light-colored pants while sitting on the floor, pre-mug shot.

Rubbing her eyes and whipping her head back to ensure her hair isn’t cascading over her eyes, she wants to make sure her booking photo is top notch.

Jodi Arias left a cheerful voicemail, and sent both a text message and a long email to Travis Alexander on June 4, 2008 ... after she had killed him.

Prosecutor Juan Martinez showed this to the jury Thursday in ending his cross-examination of Jodi Arias, who is charged with first-degree murder.

On the upbeat voicemail Arias left hours after leaving Alexander’s body in his shower, she shot the breeze for a bit, then invited him to see Othello with her.

"Let me know. Talk to you soon. Bye!” she concluded.
