Jillian Michaels is explaining her decision to exit NBC's The Biggest Loser after 10 years, citing irreconcilable differences (so to speak) with producers.

The 40-year-old fitness guru admits to People that "there were some fundamental [differences with Loser producers] that have existed for a while."

"I don't want the fans to think I feel like I'm too big for the show or that I'm seeking greener pastures. I'm so grateful to the show and so sad to leave."

One main issue was producers' portrayal of Michaels herself.

"In the beginning of the show it was tough love. You saw the tough, and you saw the love," she says, but lately, "You saw none of the relationships."

"[You saw] none of the bonds that I build with my clients."

As a result, the trainer believes, "millions of people have this warped negative perception of me" as a harsh person, and that spilled into her personal life.

Famed trainer Jillian Michaels covers the new issue of Shape Magazine, and inside, takes it all off, showing us that she's in really good ... well, Shape.

The Biggest Loser star, who rocks a gray tank and red bikini bottoms on the cover, revealed she feels better about herself now in her 40s than before.

"When I think back on my 20s and 30s, I look better now than I ever have. Yes, I’m older but I’m also wiser and that’s a more intrinsic type of beauty," she says.

40 is the new 30, people. Words to live by.

Michaels regularly works out to stay in shape, but she adds, it's important for women to be strong for their overall confidence, not just at the gym.

A show about losing weight may be losing one of its stars.

According to People sources, Jillian Michaels is "deeply concerned about the direction" of The Biggest Loser and may soon depart the series that made her famous.

"She is turned off by the mean-spirited story lines and poor care of the contestants," an anonymous insider tells the magazine.

This rumors comes a few months after the show’s most controversial finale to date, as Rachel Frederickson won the latest season, but failed to win over critics.

Many believe Frederickson dieted to a dangerously low level, dropping 150 pounds in the process.

When Rachel Frederickson revealed her weight loss on The Biggest Loser finale, even Jillian Michaels was agasp. Until now, though, she hadn't opened up about it.

"I was stunned," the trainer told HuffPost Live.

"I thought she had lost too much weight."

Michaels said the show implements a number of checks and balances, including having the trainers check in with contestants even after the ranch.

But she had no idea Rachel Frederickson had been losing so much on her own, bringing her weight loss total to a staggering 155 pounds (out of 260).

"In my opinion, this had fallen through those checks and balances," she said of The Biggest Loser winner and her controversial season-ending reveal.

Frederickson herself has since said she may have gone to an extreme, admitting: "Maybe I was a little too enthusiastic in my training to get to the finale."

Jillian Michaels is now 40 years old.

Keep that in mind as you toggle through the following photos and try not to feel too terrible about yourself.

The Biggest Loser star has been in the news recently as a result of various happenings on that NBC competition:

First, she was actually caught cheating for her team. Then, the camera zeroed in on Jillian's face when she learned how much weight (155 pounds!!!) Rachel Frederickson dropped to win the latest title.

We're equally shocked by how a 40-year old can stay in this kind of shape. Well done, Jillian!

Fans weren't the only ones shocked by The Biggest Loser winner Rachel Frederickson's weight loss. Jillian Michaels herself was at a loss for words.

The personal trainer appeared flabbergasted by Frederickson's 155-pound weight loss (from 260 to 105) on the show's season 15 finale on Tuesday.

When the 24-year-old former high school swimmer walked out onstage for the first time since leaving the ranch last fall ... this was Jill's reaction:

Michaels could be seen mouthing "Oh my God" after looking at Rachel Frederickson. Several times, in fact, before NBC's camera panned away.

Shrinking from 260 pounds and a size 20 to 105 pounds and a size 0/2, she beat fellow finalists David Brown and Bobby Saleem for the $250,000 prize.

"It's crazy!" the 5-foot-4 reality star said. "But it's not about that. [My body] is absolutely the prize ... to have this energy and to feel alive means the world."

"I lost that athlete, I lost that inner confidence, that self-worth. Throughout the season I started to find that girl again, and at the triathlon, [she] was there.

A cheating scandal has rocked The Biggest Loser.

On last night's episode of the weight loss competition, Alison Sweeney announced that Jillian Michaels had been caught breaking the rules and, consequently, last week's results have now been invalidated.

In other words: welcome back to the show, former American Idol winner Ruben Studdard!

Studdard was eliminated last Tuesday, but will return to the program next week with an unexpected fresh start.

The Biggest Loser isn't simply returning with new episodes in January. It's bringing back an former favorite and focusing on an issue that plagues the nation.

That's right, Jillian Michaels - who exited the NBC competition in 2011 in order to focus on her new family - will once again be the head trainer next year, but this time she will be barking orders at a cast of 13-17-year olds, as The Biggest Loser tackles the issue of childhood obesity.

Cue that fist pump, Michelle Obama!

Michaels will join trainers Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince on a season that will feature three teams, each comprised of adults and one teen. The younger contestants will play a role in the success of their squads, but will not be eligible for elimination.

“As a former overweight teen, I know firsthand how dramatically weight issues can affect every aspect of a child’s life,” said Michaels. ”Having recently become a mother of two, I am more passionate than ever about helping empower children and families with the information and resources they need to live a healthier life.”

The Biggest Loser host Jillian Michaels is doling out unconditional, rather than tough love to a two-year-old daughter, Lukensia – whom she recently brought home from Haiti after a long and arduous adoption process.

She also welcomed a son, Phoenix, that partner Heidi Rhoades gave birth to May 3!

“We’re swimming in babies over here,” Michaels, 38, told People of her new life.

The two-year journey that led her to her daughter ended with an incredible twist of fate as Rhoades, 31, delivered their son the same week Lukensia arrived.

The instant family makes for long days and nights for Michaels. But the fitness fanatic insists that despite the hardship, she wouldn’t have it any other way.

“I don’t even answer email anymore. I don’t have time to care about anything else,” she notes. “I want to be really present and enjoy all the nuances of their growth and development. I don’t want to rush any of it.”

Congratulations to the whole, growing family!

Jillian Michaels is leaving The Biggest Loser to focus on her family. There's just one problem: that family has started yet.

In the October issue of Redbook, the trainer goes into the "nightmare," two-year process of trying to adopt a child from the Congo.

"I’ve watched friends congratulate me on [starting] the process, get pregnant themselves, have a baby, and then their baby’s crawling. People are lapping me. My best friend just told me she’s pregnant, and of course I’m ecstatic, but I’m also like, Uhhh! [gestures stabbing herself]. Like, I want my kid to be playing with your kids!"
