Fresh off a stint on The Bachelor in which she finished third behind Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft but won the hearts of millions of viewers in America and Canada, Jillian Harris is set to take the helm as the star of The Bachelorette.

According to ABC's press release, the first man out of the limousine in the May 18 premiere blows Jillian away with his good looks and quiet charm.

Meanwhile, one man literally sweeps her off her feet and yet another becomes quite tongue-tied in her presence. The opening night cocktail party kicks into high gear as Jillian starts to look for the first impression rose recipient.

A tall, handsome guy attempts to woo her with Latin style, while a country crooner charms Jillian Harris with a song and two compete in a dance-off.

In a stunning, first-ever twist; five strikingly handsome late arrivals crash the party late! Jillian Harris thus becomes the first person in the history of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette to have 30 suitors - not just 25 - to select from!

The original 25 quietly seethe as the new guests get their time with The Bachelorette. One reveals that he is secretly obsessed with Jillian's feet, while another wealthy businessman impresses her with his laid-back confidence.

By the end of the first night, Jillian is confident that her future husband is among this group of men somewhere, but she must eliminate 10 of the 30 bachelors, leaving 20 suitors to compete for her affections and, in the end, her heart.

Some additional Bachelorette spoilers from the upcoming season:

  • During one of the episodes, the bachelors vote for the man they'd like to send home - much to one stunned and unhappy bachelor's dismay.
  • Jillian Harris' hunt for Mr. Right will take place during intimate dates in California, Hawaii, Spain and, of course, Canada.
  • Jillian takes one lucky man on her ultimate dream date: a private concert by Grammy Award-winner and CMA Vocalist of the Year Martina McBride.
  • The guys will play pickup basketball against the Harlem Globetrotters.
  • A select few lucky fellas get to see her hometown of Vancouver.
  • A single dad from Dallas named is Tanner will be in the mix.

Jillian Harris may or may not be the hottest Canadian on TV, but she made her mark on The Bachelor - and will do so again as Canada's first star of The Bachelorette!

When it comes time for her starring turn this spring, will we see the same Jillian who lost out to Molly Malaney and Melissa Rycroft, or a new, edgier version?

An insider tells OK! that Jillian is “getting her edge on” before filming starts later this month and that we may see a naughty side we haven't seen before.

“Everyone who saw Jillian got the idea that she is a goody-two-shoes,” the source says. “They will reveal that she’s capable of creating controversy. The producers would love it if The Bachelorette ends as dramatically as The Bachelor.

TURNING THE TABLES: Having finished as Jason Mesnick's third-favorite girl on The Bachelor, Jillian Harris will be doling out roses and heartbreak on The Bachelorette.

Jillian Harris, 29, an interior designer from Alberta now living in British Columbia, was a fan favorite on The Bachelor and will hand out her first rose May 17.

On The Bachelorette, she’ll be pitting guys against each other, and “You’ll see her manipulating them in ways previous Bachelorettes haven’t,” the insider says.

“You may see her lying about what she’s really looking for. She may not be a fan favorite by the time she’s down to her final choice, but it’s all about ratings.”

Yes, it is. Who are we kidding, we'd love to see Jillian drop some sap for another on live TV while pimp-host Chris Harrison mediates in an "intimate" setting.

We're proud Americans here at The Hollywood Gossip, but let's face it, Canada is the best. We're not talking about our northward neighbor's pristine wilderness, universal health care or lack of gun violence, either. Props, though.

No, it's some of the fine exports from this great nation that have piqued our interest on this day ... and most days, to be honest. Some of the most beautiful females on Earth have been gracing our television sets in recent years.

Canada's Top Export

There's no wrong answer in this poll, but we're curious what yours is: Who's the hottest Canadian actress on TV? Let's meet some of the contenders:

  • Elisha Cuthbert could be our sloppy seconds 24-7-365.
  • Shenae Grimes hates food, but she's eye candy on 90210.
  • Let us drop this piece of knowledge on all those who comb the Interwebs for Lost spoilers: Evangeline Lilly is gorgeous. Glad we could clear that up.
  • The beautiful Cobie Smulders makes fun of her own character, who's also Canadian, with hilarious How I Met Your Mother quotes all the time!
  • Cutie Anna Paquin gets some fans' blood truly boiling. Boo.
  • Battlestar's Tricia Helfer is truly one of the galaxy's finest.
  • Jillian Harris: The first Canadian Bachelorette. Fist-pump! Yes, we know she's not really an actress, but have you seen how staged The Bachelor is?

When the dust settled after a highly-rated and "shocking" season of The Bachelor, it was Molly Malaney who bested the competition and won Jason Mesnick's heart.

But how does that compare to what her two runners-up received?

Fan favorite Jillian Harris landed her own show as the next star of The Bachelorette. After being spurned on the "After the Final Rose" special Melissa Rycroft scored a spot on Dancing with the Stars and is already a bona fide hit.

Molly Malaney won a relatively handsome, upper middle-class guy with a decent job and a four-year-old son. We wish Jason and Molly all the best, and think they got a bad rap and make a great couple, but we're just sayin' ...

Who really won this season of The Bachelor?

Relatives of ABC's first Canadian Bachelorette, the awesome Jillian Harris, are keeping their hopes up and fingers crossed that the restaurant designer and Jason Mesnick castoff will find true love a second time on reality TV.

"I hope she finds that best friend she is looking for, her soulmate," said her aunt Mona Harris from her home town of Peace River, Alberta.

"She's got a good personality; she's a good person and she's got a good job. I think she'll do just great," her uncle Mark Harris said.

Jillian's rising stardom has become the talk of her hometown since she was named the star of the fifth installment of The Bachelorette Tuesday night on the lame second installment of The Bachelor: After the Final Rose special show.

On The Bachelor, the fan favorite came in third behind interim winner Melissa Rycroft and Jason Mesnick's current girlfriend Molly Malaney.

Now Jillian Harris, 29, will have her pick of 25 eligible suitors.

Given that Jason controversially dumped Melissa for Molly on the first After the Final Rose special, Jillian's parents think it may have been a blessing in disguise that their daughter was eliminated before the series' final rose ceremony.

"I think Jillian realizes there is no guarantee, but sometimes magic happens," her mom Peggy said. "I'm not sure what she considers her odds to be, but I guess no different than meeting someone at the gym. It's going to be interesting."

While Jillian Harris is under strict orders not to speak to media about the show, she indicated in an ABC press release that she is confident she will ultimately find love starring on The Bachelorette, which debuts Monday, May 18.

Nearly lost amid the controversy surrounding Jason Mesnick, Melissa Rycroft and Molly Malaney on The Bachelor finale and aftermath was this awesome news:

The adorable Jillian Harris - who finished in third place on the controversial installment of The Bachelor - will headline the new season of The Bachelorette!

"I am so excited," said Harris, 29, an interior designer from Canada who emerged as a dark horse candidate to become Mrs. Jason Mesnick this winter.

Showing her great sense of humor, Jillian (who also goes by "Jill") jokingly thanked Jason for giving her the chance to have 25 men compete for her love.

"It's a very unorthodox way to find love. but we are living in a world where people are doing things differently," she said. "It's a great opportunity."

"I fell in love once before and I know it's a great venue for me to fall in love again."

"Seeing what Jason went through makes you realize there's no guarantees in life," Jillian Harris added. "I only hope I make the right choice the first time."

Referencing her dad's reaction on her hometown date, Jillian also made one promise about the new season: "I don't need my dad to see any more hot tub scenes."

As The Bachelorette star Jillian follows DeAnna Pappas, who infamously rejected Jason Mesnick on The Bachelor finale after being spurned herself by Brad Womack on the previous Bachelor finale. It's the circle of life, Bachelor style.

The Bachelor and The Bachelorette host-pimp, the great Chris Harrison, said that Harris has "really captured America's heart and the groundswell of support for her to become the new Bachelorette was overwhelming."

We can certainly see why. Click to enlarge more Jillian Harris pics:

Last night's season finale of The Bachelor was one for the ages.

After making "the hardest decision he's ever had to make," Jason Mesnick bid farewell to Molly Malaney, got down on one knee and proposed to Melissa Rycroft.

Minutes later, in an intimate "After the Final Rose" special, the single dad shocked and angered the show's fans when he abruptly ditched her for Molly Malaney.

That set up tonight's second "After the Final Rose" installment.

Bachelor host-pimp Chris Harrison recaps the events thus far, then after boring interviews with fans (really) and ousted bachelorettes, updates us on the latest.

First on the hot seat? America's Most Hated, Jason Mesnick himself.

Jason basically spews the same vague BS from last night - he had no choice and felt bad dumping Melissa, but is more in love and better friends with Molly. Zzz.

Jason Mesnick: America's Most Hated

To say this guy is unpopular right now would be an understatement.

Melissa Rycroft declined to appear, but Molly Malaney takes the stage to discuss her relationship with Jason. Things are going well lately. Jason proclaims they're in love, Molly announces she's moving to Seattle, and they make out. Yay.

Finally, Chris announces the new star of The Bachelorette: Jillian Harris!

Are you satisfied by this ending, or just disgusted? Will Jason and Molly last, or will The Bachelor soon extend its futility streak to 0-for-13?

The celebrity gossip world is buzzing over The Bachelor spoilers claiming Jason Mesnick chooses Melissa Rycroft in New Zealand, only to dump her for Molly Malaney on the "After the Final Rose" special immediately following the finale.

Perhaps Jillian Harris should be glad she's no longer involved.

The 29-year-old Canadian cutie was a Bachelor front-runner from the first night, but ultimately Mesnick decided they weren’t meant to be more than friends.

The restaurant designer talked to reporters from her home in Vancouver about the moment she fell for Jason, her infamous hot dog theory and much more ...

Q: Fans of the show were surprised when Jason did not give you a rose. Were you?

Jillian Harris: I was surprised. It is a unique situation. No matter how hard you’re falling for somebody, you always wonder if it is for real and if he’s the one. You have questions in your mind and heart, but when he let me go, I was sincerely disappointed.

Jason Mesnick, Jillian Harris

Q: You said on the show that you had fallen in love with Jason. In hindsight, is that true?

Jillian Harris: On a scale of one to ten, would he be a ten for what I’m looking for? Maybe not. But of all the men I have dated in my life, he possessed the most qualities that I was looking for. I still love him but I don’t think I am in love with him anymore. It’s like any other breakup. You have to heal yourself. You have to get over it and move on and hope the best for the person.

Q: You had a hot date in New Zealand. Why do you think Jason didn’t think it would progress into more than friends?

Jillian Harris: That’s the million-dollar question. We had so many different levels that our relationship, from being friends to being great partners and understanding each other. Then in New Zealand, I thought we had that spark. I seemed to fit into his life and we had so much in common. I felt like we had the components to make it work.

Following three spectacular New Zealand dates on The Bachelor, star Jason Mesnick had to narrow the field of three - Jillian, Melissa and Molly - to two.

Right or wrong, Mesnick elected to eliminate Jillian Harris, a 29-year-old interior designer from Canada, who gave ET the inside scoop on the show...

Molly Malaney, Jason Mesnick Wedding

ET: What was your favorite part of this experience?

Jillian Harris: Before I did the show, I was a little bit worried if I would find my Prince Charming. Being there and feeling those sparks again made me realize that I can have that feeling again. I loved the adventure of it. I loved not being in control for once. I loved traveling. The girls were awesome. Obviously, Jason treated me like gold. I loved that I was brave enough to take a leap of faith. What do they say? You miss 100 percent of the shots you don't take.

ET: It has to be hard to get to the final three and not win Jason's heart. If asked, would you consider being the next The Bachelorette?

Jillian Harris: Part of me says, "Jill, stop while you are ahead. Now that you have done this and learned a lot about yourself, do it the old-fashioned way." The old-fashioned way hasn't really been working for me, so the other part of me says, "Jill, just go ahead and do it. You are an adventure seeker. Give it a shot and maybe you can find him that way." I think I have to sleep on it - and maybe have a glass of wine.

ET: You mentioned that you felt you were too slow in letting Jason know how you felt about him. Is that what you would do over? Do you think it would really make a difference, or do people make a true connection, so it wouldn't change things?

Jillian Harris: Very good question. Watching the show now, I think, "Jill, you should have opened up more. Why weren't you more flirty like Melissa?" But a) I am not really like that to begin with, and b) it may have been the connection.

The Hollywood Gossip's recap of The Bachelor is a rundown of our favorite (and least favorite) moments, with points awarded or deducted as we see fit.

Last night, the three women accompanied Jason Mesnick to New Zealand - where he made a surprise choice in which one he sent home. Let's get to it ...

Jason Mesnick, DeAnna Pappas Photo

Plus 10 for New Zealand. Jealous.

Jason took Jillian to the edge of a cliff and said: "It was just the two of us. There was no one else around for miles and miles..." Minus 5 for ABC's boom mic guy getting in the way of Jason completing that thought.

This week's special feature: Plus 1 for every boring euphemism for sex the writers can come up with. So far: Spend the night together. Connect physically. Handle all this fire. See the passion. Time alone. This week's total: Plus 5!

Sweet mother of ... Jason actually pulled the Titanic card and proceeded to spread his arms in an I'm-the-king-of-the-world sort of way. Minus Infinity.

Jason on the suite card: It was "from Chris to give to me to give to her..." Minus 5. Not as romantic to acknowledge the pimp-like role Chris Harrison plays in all this. But Plus 12 for the pimp-like role Chris Harrison plays in all this.

Despite giving off the impression that she's forcing it and isn't quite sure why she's there, Molly Malaney stuns Jillian for the second rose and earns a place in the finals! Could it be that less enthusiasm and insanity is more? Plus 11.

Melissa Rycroft just wants her parents to see how happy Jason makes her? Their dates are being FILMED! Minus 3, because that makes no sense, and Minus 6 more for the obvious overplaying of the parental absence for two weeks now.

The picture frames of the girls Jason gazes upon contain the same promotional stock pics we use on this site! You can't get any other candid photos, ABC? Minus 4.

Plus 5 for Melissa's video, because it is by far the most sincere and least awkward. On a related note, Jillian refers to Jason as "babe" in hers, while Molly goes with "J" and Melissa the ever-annoying "you." Minus 1 for Jillian and Melissa.

"Dude, when you're 90, you want to be with your best friend." - Jillian Harris. We know you're all laid back and cool and Canadian, Jill, but never start a sentence with "dude" and expect to be taken seriously. Minus 8.

Minus 7 for Jillian for making up that dream about Ty after getting eliminated. Just move on, girl. Sorry, that was mean. Bad us. Minus 5 for our staff.

Finally, Plus 30 for the melodramatic setup to the "shocking" finale and the "intimate" After the Final Rose special to follow. What happened is so emotional ... that we've decided to keep it as intimate as possible. What does that even mean?

Oh, and Plus 16 for that great deleted scene with Jason and Molly in the tub, with their microphones malfunctioning. We imagine 98 percent of the show is like this.

TOTAL: -Infinity, +47! A quick list of who's in and out on The Bachelor...

Roses received at ceremony: Molly, Melissa.

Booted By Jason Mesnick: Jillian.
