Between traveling to Middle East to meet troops and performing songs for a PBS special to air Thanksgiving, Jessica Simpson has been a busy girl lately.

Where would she be without the support of Eric Johnson?

"He went and got a sweater and a bowtie to try to lift my spirits because I've been working extremely hard," Simpson said. "I laughed my butt off!"

The couple began dating in May, and ever since have been spotted getting cozy across the U.S. and overseas – even celebrating her birthday together in Italy.

If the relationship seems like it's serious, that's because it is.

There once was a time when her songs were on the radio, her pretty face was the best thing about some bad films, and Jessica Simpson pictures were a daily treat.

That magical time has long since passed.

Guess we shouldn't complain. After following that link (it's a slow celebrity gossip day), we now know daily average of 14 farts add up to about a pint of gas daily, and that reducing your intake of dairy and fatty foods will cut that down.

Jessica Simpson squeezed into a little black dress - one of her own - on Wednesday to launch her new Jessica Simpson Collection at Macy's in New York City.

During the two-hour store appearance, she signed autographs and greeted fans, whom she had earlier invited (via Twitter) to wear articles from her line.

On Twitter, Jessica Simpson is in mourning over her dead dog.

But in public, the singer is all smiles.

She showed up last night for a NYC fashion event that included the debut of her "Show Me Your Blues" Jeanswear collection. Boyfriend Eric Johnson also came out for the evening, which included the flaunting of the following denim outfit, designed by Simpson herself:

A nation is in mourning this week, as we're approaching the anniversary of a tragic death.

In September 2009, Jessica Simpson's dog, Daisy Mae, was killed by a coyote. It's a loss the singer still feels on a daily basis, as she Tweeted last night: This day last year my life changed because I lost my baby Daisy Mae - the best pup of all time. Give your dog some extra love today!

We can only hope Eric Johnson plays his role in the grieving process and honors Daisy tonight by doing her owner in a style that would make the pooch proud.

Daisy Mae has gone to a better place. That is, somewhere far away from Jessica Simpson.

The Maltipoo was given to Jessica for her 24th birthday by then-husband Nick Lachey.

The circus performers turn up Jessica’s spot for Macy’s, part of the Find Your Magic campaign which takes us into the magical world that is the department store.

In the commercial, Jennifer Lopez, Sean “Diddy” Combs and Martha Stewart take us behind the “employees only” door as they get their products ready to go.

But, of course, poor, sweet Jessica finds herself in comic hot water as she chases a Macy’s balloon around the room after letting it slip from her fingers.

That's all. Sounds exciting!

Jessica Simpson has been through many ups and downs, but dating Eric Johnson would definitely qualify as an up ... at least for the foreseeable future.

In addition to an easygoing romance with her ex-NFL player beau, she's got a new album in the works, a new clothing line and is just really happy.

"I'm really just comfortable, and it's just kind of a go with the flow, easy, relaxed situation that's making me very, very happy," Jessica Simpson said.

At Wednesday's Dior Beauty's private luncheon benefiting Operation Smile, she said juggling work and love has her looking at a very busy fall season.

Set to record a Christmas album and launch her Jessica Simpson Denim Collection, "The next couple months I don't even I have a second to breathe."

Throw in working for her favorite charity, Operation Smile, which raises money for reconstructive operations, and she's barely even got time to think.

Being in love should help with that at least.
