The engagement of Jesse James and Kat Von D surprised many. If reports that they are tying the knot within a month are true, that should do the same.

"Jesse and Kat don't see any reason why they should wait to trade vows," a source said. "They are madly in love and want to make everything official."

According to the source, Jesse James and Kat Von D have already started planning their wedding, which will be small and happen outside of California.

Don't expect an over-the-top Hollywood wedding for the twosome, which should come as no surprise considering their unexpected whirlwind relationship.

The two became a couple in September, shortly after his divorce from Sandra Bullock, who he informed prior to going public with his engagement to Kat.

The divorce - James' third - with Bullock happened after he was caught cheating on Sandra with many women, most notably Michelle "Bombshell" McGee.

Hopefully the fourth time's the charm.

James, who divorced Sandra Bullock last year after being embroiled in an epic sex scandal involving Michelle McGee and others, confirmed the news.

"You know sometimes the public and press gets it wrong. This is one of those times. 2010 was actually the best year of my life because I fell in love with my best friend," James tells People.

The much-maligned James went on to praise Kat as "An amazing woman who stood behind me when the world turned their backs."

"I have never met anyone so kind and loving and committed to making the world a better place every day. My love for her is beyond description," James adds. "I'm so honored she said 'yes.' Growing old with her is going to be a f----n' blast!"

James began dating Kat Von D this summer, following the collapse of his marriage to Bullock and her breakup with boyfriend Nikki Sixx.

"There is no one else for me. He's the one," The LA Ink said.

Proving that their relationship is still going strong, or is going strong again after their rumored breakup, Kat Von D Tweeted proof of her love for Jesse James.

Jesse James and Kat Von D started dating in August, after he finalized his divorce with Sandra Bullock, but hit some bumps in the road late last year.

Nice to see that tatted couple is back in full effect.

During their rumored split, Kat was rumored to have reconciled with ex Nikki Sixx, who briefly dated Denise Richards in recent weeks as well. It's a crazy world.

James has kept a low profile since his affair with Michelle McGee (who was recently linked to Charlie Sheen) blew the lid off his double life in March of last year.

It's all good now, though. They recently took a trip together to visit the mother of his daughter Sunny, Jamie Lindemulder. Sunny turned seven on New Year's Day.

It looked like it was over, with Nikki Sixx and long-distance relationships to blame. But Jesse James and Kat Von D appeared awfully cozy at lunch Saturday.

The couple turned up at the El Compadre Mexican restaurant in West Hollywood, where they chatted and kissed at their table. So much for that ugly split.

It was the first public outing for the motorcycle mogul and the L.A. Ink star since split rumors started flying over her getting back together with Nikki Sixx.

The love life of Jesse James is hard to follow.

Kat has reportedly been unhappy about James' move to Austin, so that his kids can remain close to his ex-wife and their former stepmother, Sandra Bullock.

She's been losing patience with their "weekend fly-back-and-forth relationship" and reports say she ended it, officially or not, by getting back with Sixx.

Maybe Jesse didn't get the memo.

Witnesses at El Compadre said the couple appeared to be in good spirits, polishing off a shared cheese enchilada, leaving a generous tip and peacing out.

As we hinted earlier this week, Jesse James and Kat Von D were having problems. Now it looks like those problems have led to a full-blown breakup.

Blame Nikki Sixx and plain old geography. Long distance NEVER works.

Here's the latest: Kat Von D, the heavily-tattooed L.A. Ink star, dumped JJ and went back to Motley Crue rocker Sixx, her ex. She and Jesse were fizzling, so that's not shocking. What is surprising is the feud between Kat and ... TLC.

For Kat Von D, it's out with the old, in with ... the older.

While filming the current season of L.A. Ink, Kat was dating Jesse James and during that courtship, producers shot footage of her trash talking ex Nikki.

They even went as far as editing an episode, which featured a "Nikki vs. Jesse" theme, posing a potentially awkward sitch for Kat. Her solution? SUE!

According to reports, Kat's "freaked out" and demanding producers cut the footage, lest she take legal action and halt Ink's production immediately.

How bad was her trash talking? We'll never know, since Kat got her way and the material was nixed! Too bad, that would have been really awkward.

In any case, Jesse's out, Nikki's in. You may now return to your lives.

Jesse James recently relocated to Texas so his kids could be near their former stepmom, Sandra Bullock, even though he cheated on her and she divorced him.

That plan had the added benefit of putting distance between his family and his other ex-wife, Janine Lindemulder, whose parole bars her from leaving California.

It all made sense at the time for the troubled biker, but he could be headed back to the Golden State before long. The reason for that is simple: Kat Von D.

Janine herself muses: “He did everything he could to try and win Sandra back but it didn’t wash and now that he has Kat in his life, why would he stay in Texas?"

“All of his friends are in California and he was like a fish out of water in Austin which is really Sandra’s town. The sad part is that he made the kids move there."

“He’s a narcissist and if it means being with Kat Von D and the publicity that will bring then I’m sure he will go for it," Janine adds. “I guess I should be happy."

A source has broken the following news to People magazine: Jesse James has "moved on."

Next, we can only assume this same insider confirms that Danielle Staub is mentally unbalanced and Karissa Shannon likes attention.

Based on his hat and his girlfriend, Jesse James has poor taste in football teams and women.

But back to James. Speaking to the aforementioned publication, an anonymous friend was asked about Jesse's relationship with Kate Von D and replied:

"My guess is that he's realizing he won't get another chance with Sandra and has given up on that. [Jesse and Kat] have known each other for a while. I think the opportunity presented itself with neither of them being involved with anyone and it happened."

Asked if she thinks the motorcycle mogul, who accompanied Von D to the gallery opening, is "The One" for her, she answered, "I believe he is, so yeah."

As for how and when she first knew her feelings for Jesse James were so strong, she said, "Was it when we were playing Scrabble? I don't remember."

"But it was something like that – we both realized how nerdy we were."

Although James recently finalized his split from Sandra Bullock after he admitted to cheating on her, Von D says the drama didn't cause her to hesitate.

The pair were spotted hand-in-hand Sunday in Fredericksburg, Tex., near where James and his three kids from previous marriages just moved (Austin).

It marked the first PDA shot of the tattooed Jesse James and Kat Von D, who raised eyebrows with during their weekend trip to Las Vegas on August 15.

L.A. Ink star Kat confirmed the relationship via Twitter a week later, writing "Yes, Jesse and I are dating" - then deleted the post. But alas, word got out.
