This week, on Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 8, the Robertsons returned to their roots: Duck calls. And someone returned one of said duck calls, citing poor quality.

If you watch Duck Dynasty, you know there have been some "Before the Dynasty" vignettes lately, showing the gang before their rise to A&E reality stardom.

Throwing it back to 2009, we saw Jase Robertson read a customer complaint stating, “To whom it may concern, bought duck call, sounds good, it ‘wables.’”

Consulting the dictionary and failing to find what “wables” means, Jase realized the customer meant that the call wobbles, when rolled across a flat surface.

As Jase told the concerned customer, “if it doesn’t wobble, it wouldn’t work.” And with that, all was right with the warehouse again. Elsewhere in West Monroe?

Phil showed up with a smelly plastic bag full of beaver dung. Standard.

Wednesday on Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 7, what began as a friendly game of badminton escalated into a full-on battle for sibling supremacy.

Of the outdoor and wilderness variety. Even Alan got in on the action!

Often maligned and subject to his older siblings' harassment, Jep said of his badminton triumph over WIllie and Jase: “They are losers, just not very good ones.”

True to form, Willie and Jase challenged their brothers to ... anything.

Pick an activity outside, the hirsute duo boasted, and they will prevail.

Jep produced a comeback familiar to those who watch Duck Dynasty online: "I'm better looking and I'm my mom’s favorite. Beat that ding dongs."

The ding dongs' challenge? Getting dropped off in the middle of the woods, teaming up in pairs, and racing back to Phil and Miss Kay's residence.

On A&E's Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 6, Jase and company "debugged" the family duck blinds, while CEO Willie tried to teach the kids about business.

Because it always beats working, Jase took some of the guys from Duck Commander on a search for crawfish ... inside the duck blinds on the family land.

Jase loves crawfish almost as much as he loves frogs, so he's willing to go to great lengths to acquire them, despite what you might call occupational hazards.

John Godwin went into a blind and encountered a gator - one that was "Godzilla big, like a bull,” he said - but which Willie removed with his bare hands.

Godwin exaggerations aside, it was thus time to debug the blinds, or in layman's terms, clean them the heck out so there are no critters living in there.

Being a duck hunter, Jase explains is not what the public makes it out to be or what you would simply assume if you watch Duck Dynasty online.

It's serious effort, with a lot of preparation, tedious tasks and Jase's equivalent of paperwork - cleaning out the blinds. Still beats actual paperwork, Jase.

On last night's Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 3, fan favorite Mountain Man made an appearance, while Jep's daughter Lily has her first boyfriend.

Mountain Man, Willie and Korie's slow-talking, jack-of-all-trades neighbor, is doing a "hands-on" event for the radio show that Willie and Si went on.

To play: Everyone keeps a hand on an object and the last person standing wins it. Willie spends $1,000 to "help the community." MM buys a wood chipper.

Si decides he's going to compete, as does Willie, and despite what you think you might know of Si if you watch Duck Dynasty online, he can hold it.

If he needs to. Even whilst consuming about a gallon of tea.

Meanwhile, Jep's girl is growing up and despite his reservations, dad tags along on a mini-golf date with the awkward elementary school couple.

John Daniel (J.D.) even brings flowers. Pretty cute stuff.

He's also a hunter, which further wins over Jep, and speaking of winning, Willie ... gets tricked by Jase into letting go of the wood chipper. Si FTW?!

Duck Dynasty is back to stir more controversy (or mostly just good family fun, as the controversy seems to revolve around issues outside the show) on A&E.

On Duck Dynasty Season 6 Episode 1, Willie Robertson received an award from Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a longtime, vocal supporter of the reality series.

Willie’s son John Luke was to introduce Jindal at an awards ceremony at Duck Commander, if he stops farting long enough to finish his speech that is.

At the Duck Commander warehouse, Godwin, Martin, Jase, Si, and Jep are busy making duck calls, and by that we obviously mean playing basketball.

Willie is not amused, or probably surprised.

At Phil Robertson and Miss Kay’s house, she is modeling outfits that she wants to wear for the event, until Sadie and Korie decide to take her shopping.

They find success, according to Phil.

Duck Dynasty Season 5 is in the books following an hour-long finale on Wednesday that was a little out of the ordinary for the popular A&E reality show.

How so? In between Willie and Jase trading zingers and Phil battling yuppies for alpha male supremacy was the story of a little girl who wants a party.

When you watch Duck Dynasty online, you'll see that despite the controversy and redneck jokes, the series is as much about family and heart as any.

In Duck Dynasty Season 5 Episode 10, Mia Robertson, Jase and Missy's daughter, was facing her fifth major surgery to address her cleft lip and palate.

Before her operation, Jase (a much bigger softie than he lets on) and Missy the youngster her the option to do whatever she wants as a big send off.

After hearing about a famous Uncle Willie and Daddy wrestling match, Mia chooses a big family reunion, with all of the extended cousins as well.

Dad did not let her down. "Cut to the Chase" Jase brings back his classic nickname from the Christmas special to do battle in the wrestling ring.

His opponent? "Get Back to Work" Willie, in the full-sized wrestling ring they rented. And they go at it, WWE style. It was weird, but in an awesome way.

On Duck Dynasty Season 5 Episode 8, the Duck Commander gang built a playhouse for the kiddos. Jep's kiddos, to be specific. He's got four and they are adorable!

The issue was that with Jep nursing an injured wrist, he had to outsource this important project to Jase, Martin and Godwin, making the results at best unpredictable.

And entertaining, obviously, whenever Team Jase is involved.

In the end what he got was a fort/duck blind hybrid. Pretty cool, no? As patriarch Phil put it, it looks more like something you put prisoners in for solitary.

You be the judge regarding whether that makes it a success.

Jessica Robertson would fall into the "no" category. She was not what you'd call pleased with the jail-like structure, but perhaps she'll come around soon.

Hey, when you call upon free manual labor, you roll the dice.

Duck Dynasty Season 5 Episode 6, “G.I. Si," featured the gang staging an epic battle in the name of G.I. Joe, who played a key role in the installment.

Miss Kay tried to encourage her brood of boys to give their old toys to charity, an idea that was warmly received until Willie saw a G.I. Joe action figure.

Willie Robertson on Duck Dynasty

Willie urged Kay to reconsider, given its sentimental value, but quickly, this devolved into an argument over who the famous action figure really belonged to.

Jase claimed G.I. Joe was his, words were exchanged, and before you knew it (and yet you knew it was coming), Willie and Jase take it to the extreme.

A debate about who would make a better soldier - Uncle Si pointing out that he was the only actual soldier in the family - leads to a Duck Dynasty paintball war.

To the winner goes G.I. Joe himself.

Last night on Duck Dynasty Season 5 Episode 5, Willie and Jase Robertson got into a beef - and later, an epic showdown - over who makes better burgers.

Jase concedes that Willie is unquestionably the better burger "eater," for obvious reasons, but that fact does not make him the "Burger Commander."

And so the burger-off begins, with the brothers heading to the store for ingredients and cracking jokes every step of the way. Who will prevail?

The local burger place, as it turned out.

When Godwin and Martin won't give your product the thumbs-up, you know you have issues, and that was the result for both of the Robertson brothers.

Willie's "Super Stack" burger, or "mountain o' beef," whichever you might call it, actually scared Godwin off. Yes, John Godwin was not impressed.

Jase didn't fare much better, overcooking his to the point where Martin declares both burgers inedible before the gang went back to the burger joint.

Leave it to the professionals, fellas.

This week's Duck Dynasty was all about Si. Which they all are, really, as that guy is always in the mix and he never shuts up. But this one more than most.

After Si sees the fellas watching a cool video Jep filmed of a guy (himself?) riding a bike with a helmet cam, Si decides he should wear one of those things.

"No one wants to see the world through the eyes of Si Robertson," opines Jase, but clearly the producers who thought this up do, and the viewers too.

After all, how can you go wrong with exchanges like this, which comprised the bulk of Duck Dynasty Season 5 Episode 3 (and most DD installments):

  • "I gotta tell the folks back home what's goin' on." - Si
  • "You realize that's not hooked up to a satellite." - Jep

With Si, you never actually know what is real senility and what is crazy antics or somewhere in the middle. Which makes that narcoleptic redneck great.

Meanwhile, Willie got tickets to the LSU game for Sadie and John Luke, but he's a lot more excited than they are, especially after he gets lost en route.

Boss Hog's "short cut" to Baton Rouge didn't get them to the stadium in time. Or at all. But they did listen to the end of the game on the radio together.
