Derek Jeter will retire at the end of the 2014 MLB season, and with the year's halfway point upon us, tributes to the legendary Yankees shortstop have begun rolling in.

Earlier today, Nike unveiled a 2-minute commercial set to air during Tueday's All Star Game in which fans ranging from Spike Lee to Carmelo Anthony to a group of begrudgingly respectful Bostonians all tip their caps in tribute to El Capitan.

A group of Mets even join in the show of respect. Fortunately, their faces are digitally blurred so as to keep their lockers un-vandalized by teammates.

As for Mr. Met, himself, well...he probably should've thought twice before appearing in the spot. Dude's got the world's most recognizable head.

Check out the video above to see a wide array of sports fans show their love for Jeets.

Jay-Z disses Scott Boras in his new song "Crown," calling the uber-sports agent "over" and bragging about pilfering one of his biggest clients.

The Grammy-winning rapper, who now represents MLB and NBA players as an agent, recently signed New York Yankees all-star Robinson Cano.

Until recently, Cano was repped by Bora$, perhaps the biggest and most successful agent in the biz. So it was without a doubt quite a coup for Jay-Z.

In the song from his new album Magna Carta Holy Grail, Jay name-checks both, rapping “Scott Boras, you over baby. Robinson Cano, you coming with me.”

Asked if he had a reply to Jay-Z's "Crown" lyrics, Boras told ESPN:

The NFL Players Association has set its sights on Jay Z.

According to NFL.com, questions have arisen over the recruitment of New York Jets rookie quarterback Geno Smith, who dumped his agent soon after this year's draft and signed with Roc Nation Sports.

Under league rules, no one outside of a certified agent is permitted from meeting with prospective clients.

But Smith's adviser, John Thornton, has said Smith and Jay-Z "connected" during a recent visit, though he later claimed to have been misquoted. There's also this Instagram photo of the music star and Smith together:

The union will soon send a letter of inquiry to Roc Nation Sports agent Kim Miale to learn more about Jay-Z's involvement in courting Smith.

As a member of the Yankees, Robinson Cano has been in a New York State of mind since his breakout rookie season of 2006.

But the All-Star second baseman took that to a new level today, dropping uber agent Scott Boras and becoming the first athlete to sign up with Roc Nation Sports, an agency headed by Jay-Z.

"At this point in my career, I am ready to take a more active role in my endeavors on and off the field," Cano said in a statement.

"I am confident that the pairing of Roc Nation Sports and CAA Sports will be essential in helping me accomplish my short and long-term goals. I am making this important decision now so I can keep my focus on helping the Yankees succeed in 2013, while minimizing any distractions for me and my teammates."
