And the award for Backward Compliment of the Year goes to...

With Jimmy Kimmel Live shifting to 11:35 p.m. next week, and therefore taking on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, the former's host comes down hard on the latter's in a new interview with Rolling Stone, telling the magazine of Leno:

"As a comedian, you can't not have disdain for what he's done: He totally sold out. He was a master chef who opened a Burger King."

SLAM... and also props, as Kimmel is saying what many have said for years: Leno was a terrific stand-up who dumbed down his schtick for his late-night gig.

Do you agree? Sound off now: Which of these men is funnier?

And the Winner is?

Jimmy Kimmel is now squaring off against Jay Leno. Which of these two do you find funnier? View Poll »

David Letterman thinks Jay Leno is an absolutely hilarious dude.

Yes, there's a huge BUT coming at the end of that statement.

Jay and Dave

In a sit down interview on Oprah: The Next Chapter, Dave discusses with longtime frenemy Winfrey his history with and feelings about Leno candidly.

"We were always friends before all of this happened," Letterman says in a preview clip of their interview airing January 6, referring to the Conan debacle.

"He's an unusual fellow. I've never met anyone quite like Jay. And I will say - I'm happy to say - that I think he is the funniest guy I've ever known."

Barbara Walters is not happy about Lindsay Lohan bailing on 20/20 - and even less pleased that the star immediately booked an interview with Jay Leno.

  • Lindsay Lohan, Bronzer
  • Jay Leno Photograph

Her new publicist, Tej Bhatia Herring, took over when Steve Honig quit last month, and was reportedly concerned that Walters would paint Lohan in an unfavorable light.

She therefore found else someone to interview her client, a man who lobs more softballs than that fat dude in your slow-pitch league: Jay Leno.

No more Mr. Nice Jay?

On last night's edition of The Tonight Show, the host went especially hard after President Barack Obama on two issues:

Barack and Jay

His handling of the mess in Libya, where four Americans were killed and emails showed the White House was made aware of details it failed to quickly make public.

“Well, ‘Don't Ask, Don't Tell’ is back," Leno cracked. "Not for gays in the military. It's President Obama's new policy for questions about Libya. Don't ask, don't tell."

Pitch Perfect star Rebel Wilson sang "The Edge of Glory" on The Tonight Show last night, and Lady Gaga would undoubtedly approve of the energetic homage.

The Australian actress was reenacting her audition for the new comedy, during which she sang the Gaga ballad, and she clearly deserves the role for going all out.

On the Tonight Show Monday night, Olympic champion Gabby Douglas revealed how she celebrated her gold medal-winning gymnastics performance.

"I splurged on an Egg McMuffin at McDonald's!" the 16-year-old said ... an answer that was music to the ears of famous fast food lover Jay Leno.

"Egg McMuffin?" the intrigued host said as the program's other guest, fitness and nutrition fanatic Michelle Obama, could only shake her head.

"Gabby, don't encourage him," she joked. "I'm sure it was a whole wheat McMuffin."

Added the First Lady, amid laughter, "You're setting me back, Gabby!"

As First Lady, Obama has advocated for encouraging healthy eating; on her last trip to the Tonight Show, Michelle even got Jay to eat vegetables.

Later during the trio's chat, Leno questioned the gold medalist about her post-Olympics life, and whether or not it's met her expectations so far.

When David Letterman brought Conan O'Brien as a guest on The Late Show Thursday, you knew this was going to come up. And it was pretty amusing.

The two late-night talk-show hosts reunited on the program after 13 years, and Jay Leno, who famously forced Conan out of NBC, came up quite a bit.

Letterman didn't shy from admitting the rivalry brought him a bit of happiness, to which O"Brien, his one-time Late Night replacement, responded:

"If this is bringing you some measure of joy, then to hell with my career."

Letterman said Leno was always "a bit of a brat," and Conan confessed that the two comics had little in common, even back in the NBC salad days.

After some minor digs, Conan admitted he's in a good place, though.

"I feel terrific, I really do… I'm so very lucky to get to go on television and to get to do my thing my way, and TBS lets me do whatever I want."

"Checks come in and I have a great time. We took all of our people with us, everybody is happy. I'm thrilled. It worked out. I'm a lucky person."

"They don't watch it, they don't care."

We should all be so fortunate.

Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night.

In related news, the talent booker for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno should be fired.

The Kardashian Sisters on The Tonight Show

The first two minutes of the interview were spent in captivating fashion, as Leno asked a pregnant Kourtney about cravings and this led to a discussion between the sister of In-N-Out Burger (cha-ching!).

From there, Leno quizzed Kim on Kanye West and the track "Theraflu," as she played dumb (okay, she might not have been playing) and responded "I don't know if he wrote it for me… I think my name's in it."

Look for Kanye to appear this summer on Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and watch the full interview with these morons below.

Mel Gibson appeared on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno last night and surprisingly, he willingly brought up his most recent secretly recorded meltdown.

He joked about it repeatedly, no less.

The now-infamous Mel Gibson rant, in which he RAGED at Joe Eszterhas (and was taped in his own home, unwittingly, by Eszterhas' son), was over the top, he conceded. Still, Mel believes his privacy was violated and his actions were "justified." Why?

Eszterhas' script for The Maccabees was non-existent, then awful, Mel said, proceeding to slam the screenwriter for selling him out hardcore in a nine-page letter released online - before he leaked the audiotape.

"If he put half as much time and effort and creativity and imagination into a screenplay, which he was supposed to write, as he did into that letter, we wouldn't be having this conversation," Gibson said of Joe Eszterhas.

As for the rant itself, Leno asked, "So what were you doing, just swearing at the guy?"

"Yeah, pretty much," Mel deadpanned, before adding self-deprecatingly, "Maybe you don't know this about me, but I've got a little bit of a temper."

First Lady Michelle Obama cajoled Jay Leno into eating healthy foods for the first time in ... oh, ever during her visit to the Tonight Show on NBC Tuesday.

Promoting her “Let’s Move!” campaign to get kids excited about fitness and healthy diets, Michelle brought out some food to make an example out of Jay.

As both Jay and Michelle joked repeatedly about his eating habits, Leno sampled apples, sweet potato fries and a pizza made with eggplant, peppers and zucchini.

Could've used some sausage, but even Jay conceded it wasn't bad.

Michelle Obama encouraged Jay to dip his apple in honey made from beehives in the White House garden: “It will help it go down easier,” she said.

“'White House honey'? That just sounds bad,” Leno replied, adding, “You know, with a different president that could mean a whole different thing.”

In California to promote her initiative and attend a pair of fundraising events, Michelle also talked about her daughters and her husband's reelection campaign.

She even praised Mitt Romney singing at a recent event. Classy woman.

Watch the first part of Michelle Obama's Tonight Show interview below:
