As you debate which American Idol finalist will be voted off tonight - David Cook, David Archuleta or Syesha Mercado - contemplate the following question:

Has last week's eliminated contestant, Jason Castro, ever been on drugs?

The dreadlocked singer says no, he's never been high. Seems kinda hard to believe, doesn't it?

Totally Stoned

"I think that, especially with things like [Idol], people like to stereotype so easily. Just because a guy is really easy going... People have always said that [about me]," Castro said.

"When I was younger I was real hyper and they'd think I was always drunk and I had never had a drink of alcohol until, like, last year. But the fact is I've never been high in my life."

Do you believe Jason Castro?

Jason Castro may have been voted off American Idol last night, but at least the talented crooner can take comfort in the fact that he advanced farther than any other dreadlocked singer that appeared stoned all the time in the show's history.

Following the Idol tradition of saluting each eliminated finalist with a farewell montage, here are a series of Jason Castro photos from the last few months. Click on them now for enlarged versions...

Yup, this headline pretty much sums up what went down in Las Vegas last week between the three remaining American Idol finalists and one very lucky mammal.

In between last week's performances and tonight's big final four showdown, David Archuleta, David Cook and Jason Castro all befriended a dolphin, of whom we're guessing millions of teenage girls are jealous...

Tonight, these three will join Syesha Mercado on stage for the latest set of American Idol performance. We'll have a full report on it tomorrow!

Typically, we post an American Idol Power Poll on Monday mornings.

But the competition is down to just five singers, so it seems almost fruitless to rank them. Especially seeing as David Cook and David Archuleta are so clearly on a path to the finals against one another.

Therefore, to change it up, here's a look at Archuleta and fellow finalist Jason Castro hanging out at the launch of BritWeek 2008 in Los Angeles last week.

This brainchild of American Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe celebrates British contributions to the world of entertainment.

Sorry, Sanjaya Malakar. Your final fan has abandoned you.

Remember Ashley Ferl, American Idol followers? She was the adorable/insane little girl who cried hysterically over Sanjaya during every one of his performances last season.

Final 12

Well, it looks like Ferl is as fickle about who she cheers for as Lindsay Lohan is about who she sleeps with.

Last night, Ashley was in attendance at the show - and sobbed uncontrollably through the performance of Jason Castro. Looks like she just loves guys with weird hair.

Ashley Ferl loves Jason Castro. But do viewers? Will he survive the latest round of American Idol cuts?

As always, the People magazine staffers went behind the scenes of last night's edition of American Idol and dug up some great dirt - as well as funny anecdotes and other moments that were great, but you didn't see on TV. Here are some excerpts ...

Screams and Signs

Baylie Brown Photo

It's pretty apparent that fans are starting to pick their favorite American Idol stars, as definitive favorites can be read in signs across the audience, as in "I [heart] Brooke White," "We [heart] Michael Johns," or "We Love You Carly."

An American Idol Birthday

Debbie the stage manager urgently called over the PA system during the break â€" "Ryan Seacrest, I need you! Ryan Seacrest, I need you!"

Finally, Ryan headed over to see what was so important. Moments later, the host came out carrying a large white and blue frosted cake with burning birthday candles. Next, all the American Idol stars, judges, the entire crew and audience began to sing "Happy Birthday" to Jason Castro, helping him celebrate the big 2-1 - Idol style!

Who Will It Be?

No matter what David Archuleta says or sings (even obscure Australian songs nobody has ever heard of), the female fans in the audience go wild whenever his name is mentioned or even when he steps onto the stage.

But Tuesday, when Ryan Seacrest asked the 17-year-old star if he'll be going to his high school prom and, if so, whom David Archuleta be bringing, all the teenagers in the pit started going wild, yelling, "Take me, David! Take me!"

A usually shy Archuleta wouldn't let anything slip, even when Ryan asked if the mystery girl sitting in the crowd next to his father would be the lucky one.

A Hard Worker

Almost tripping on her way backstage â€" if not for her faithful bodyguard to save her â€" judge Paula Abdul spent most of the commercial breaks greeting the many teenage girls or "the hand-wavers" inside the American Idol mosh-pit.

Faces in the Crowd

Shar Jackson laughed up a storm when the monitor showed David Archuleta and his sister doing a dance as children. Also back, former Idol Danny Noriega, who spent the night close to his pal Ramiele Malubay's family, sitting in the front row.

Randy Saw Red & Simon Was Red

Somebody definitely had a "Case of the Mondays" on this Tuesday, as Randy Jackson was consistently finding fault in some of the better moments.

But even though Jackson was the hot-headed judge, why was it Cowell with the red face literally? Could it be that the judge, who loves summer water sports, forgot to put on sunscreen at the beach? Simon, you may need to find a stronger SPF.

David Hernandez and Jason Castro have established themselves as fierce, talented competitors on the seventh season of American Idol.

But they're also opponents in what may be an even more intense battle: The Hollywood Gossip Topless Tussle!

Check out - and click to enlarge - the following photos of Hernandez shirtless and Castro shirtless. Let us know who looks better. (And, yes, fellas, we're trying to arrange a similar face-off between Kristy Lee Cook and Brooke White. No luck on finding topless pics of those Idol singers yet, though.)

Amidst a sea of American Idol scandals involving David Hernandez and Danny Noriega, Jason Castro took the stage last night and reminded viewers what this competition was all about:

Great singing.

Sorry, Casey

Check out his performance of the classic, slow, 1980s song "Hallelujah" right now:

How far do you think Jason Castro can advance on American Idol?

On last night's American Idol, four contestants stood up and make one thing clear: David Archuleta hasn't won anything yet!

While everyone's favorite, 17-year old, former Star Search winner did a solid job with the Phil Collins' song "Another Day in Paradise," he wasn't on the receiving end of the evening's strongest praise from judges. That went to the following four hopefuls:

1. David Cook: His version of Lionel Richie's "Hello" was met with raves from Randy Jackson, who said the single could be a hit today. Simon Cowell echoed those sentiments, with: "David, that was a very brave thing to do, and I loved it."

2. David Hernandez decided to play directly into those gay rumors by singing Celine Dione's "It's All Coming Back to Me Now." Gotta admire him for that. While not as beloved as Cook, Hernandez did hear the only words from Simon that anyone could ask for: "You've 100 percent secured a place in the finals."

3. Michael Johns sounded like the original singer of "Don't You Forget About Me." We agreed right away with what Randy said that it was a "good song choice," while even Paula Abdul made sense with: "I'm so glad you are the type of artist who is defining who you are."

4. Jason Castro: Hallelujah! This dreadlocked star calmly performed a stellar version of the son "Hallelujah." Simon summed it up thusly: "I thought it was absolutely brilliant what you just did... You are getting better and better and better. I'm very happy."

Who was your favorite performer of the night?
