Remember the good old days when Jamie Lynn Spears dominated the news? Well, pregnant little sis is back - and the celebrity news ain't good.

Since Britney Spears' 16-year-old sister announced she is expecting a baby with her long-term boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, many entertainment news sources have questioned the fate of her Nickelodeon show, Zoey 101.

Cute Jamie Lynn Spears Picture

Question no more. It was announced Friday that the fourth season of the hit "'tween" show will air as planned - but will be its final season.

"For now it looks like it has been canned," a Nickelodeon source said.

Zoey 101, a story about a cute young girl (Jamie Lynn Spears) who enrolls in a typically all-male school, is a hit show aimed at children ages 9-14.

But TV sources worried publicly that airing a season in which the now pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears stars will send the wrong message to children.

Come to think of it, the fact that Jamie Lynn's sister freaked out and had to be wheeled out of her home on a gurney wasn't good for PR either.

According to one report, Britney bragged to Jamie Lynn during her meltdown that she "wouldn't be the only Spears in the headlines this week!"

OK! Magazine, the now-infamous celebrity news and gossip source, could not possibly have purchased all the attention it enjoyed last month after it got the scoop that Jamie Lynn Spears is three months pregnant.

Or could it?

It is widely assumed within the publishing industry that OK! paid Jamie Lynn Spears' family for the exclusive rights to Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy news.

Us Weekly, another celebrity news magazine, cited sources who said that Jamie Lynn's mother, Lynne Spears, sold them the pregnancy story for $1 million, an assertion that enraged her ex-husband and Jamie Lynn's dad, Jamie Spears.

Checkbook journalism is no secret in the celebrity gossip world.

The gossip publications often pay for photos of weddings and babies, perhaps most famously in June 2006 when People won a fierce bidding war for the first photos of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt's daughter, Shiloh Nouvel.

Although People said that the widely reported $4.1 million price tag was not accurate, it did not offer an alternative figure; editors say that disclosing prices paid would work against efforts to keep the costs down.

  • Destroyed By Lynne Spears

But purchasing news of a pregnancy is as unusual as it is controversial. After OK! broke the story of a pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears, rival celebrity news tabloid Us Weekly boasted in its subsequent issue that OK! paid Lynne Spears $1M for it.

The two-year-old American edition of OK! Magazine, like its 14-year-old British counterpart, acknowledges paying for "relationships" with celebrities, but Sarah Ivens, the U.S. edition's editor, declined to discuss specific deals or figures.

"If there's something out there, there will be a bidding war," Ivens told The New York Times. "We're not bidding against ourselves."

When asked why she was less hesitant than some competitors to acknowledge purchase of celebrity photos, Ivens said: "I'm not very good at lying."

The interview with Jamie Lynn Spears, 16, drew copious attention to OK!, which sells far fewer copies than competitors like People, and provoked speculation about a relationship between OK! and Lynn Spears - a relationship strained by a disastrous photo shoot with Jamie Lynn's sister, Britney Spears, months ago.

Move over, Jessica Alba. Parents-to-be Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge were spotted out and about - and it appears she's already beginning to show!

Well, maybe at least. We'll be honest, this Jamie Lynn Spears and Casey Aldridge photo - screen capped from Entertainment Tonight - is blurry as hell.

Pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears

Rumor has it, though, that the 16-year-old, pregnant Jamie Lynn Spears is farther along than 14 weeks, the time she told the media she's been with child. The picture below may not show much, but it'll be interesting to track this story ...

Okay, so this pic pretty much sucks and there may or may not be a Jamie Lynn Spears baby bump visible just yet. But either way, we do know three things for sure:

  1. Despite rumors that Casey is not the father, these two still seem close
  2. Lynne Spears is thinking up new ways to cash in on poor Jamie Lynn
  3. Britney Spears is straight up confused about where she is right now

We haven't heard from The Sports Gal in awhile.

But the wife of ESPN columnist Bill Simmons couldn't possibly keep quiet in the wake of Jamie Lynn Spears getting knocked up. Here's her professional take on it:

Off with the Shorts

My favorite part of this fiasco is that Britney is going to be an aunt and possibly even the godmother. Somehow this is scarier than her being a mom.

At least moms can lose custody -- if you're an aunt, you're always an aunt and this means Brit will always be around during the holidays. "Uh-oh, hide the cigarettes, Aunt Britney just pulled into the driveway!"

We highly doubt the legitimacy of this Star Magazine story, but it's simply too good / funny not to at least share with our celebrity gossip readers.

The latest whispers in the Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy drama indicate that Jamie's on/off boyfriend, Casey Aldridge, is not the father of her baby.

Jamie Lynn and Britney Spears

Star claims that the underage "sperm donation" honors, so to speak, may in fact belong to someone she knows in a slightly more professional capacity.

Sources tell the magazine that an executive on 16-year-old Jamie Lynn Spears' Nickelodeon TV show, Zoey 101, is the real father.

The exec is believed, of course, to be much older than the teenage mother, and could face statutory rape charges if the rumors turn out to be true.

Casey Aldridge, at 18 and less than two years older than Jamie Lynn Spears, is off the hook from a legal standpoint if he is, in fact, the guy who put a baby in that.

Jamie Lynn Spears' alleged boyfriend has been keeping a low profile ever since the dramatic pregnancy news broke, and insiders believe there's a reason for that.

Star insists Casey Aldridge has been paid off to be the Spears family's fall guy while the identity of the real father of Jamie Lynn Spears' baby remains a mystery.

"The man many people close to the family suspect is the father, however, would face charges and very possibly prison time if he were to come forward and admit that he had sex with Jamie Lynn Spears," a Star source claims.

Jamie Spears, Jamie Lynn Spears' father, is livid with his ex-wife Lynne Spears' decision to cash-in on their 16-year-old daughter's pregnancy.

NOTE: Yes, you read that correctly - Jamie Lynn Spears' parents are Jamie and Lynne. Talk about scarring a kid for life from day one. Anyway.

Jamie Spears "did not spend Christmas with Lynne or Jamie Lynn and instead stayed at home and went to work," a Spears family source tells Us Weekly.

"He doesn't get a dime from his daughters ... He busts his ass to take care of himself. That's why he's so furious at [Lynne] Spears for her behavior."

Jamie Spears is the seldom-seen father of Britney and Jamie Lynn Spears.

Jamie Spears has been working long hours as a private chef to make a living while ex-wife Lynne, as Us Weekly reports in its latest issue, arranged a $1 million deal with OK! Magazine for the story of Jamie Lynn's pregnancy and pics down the line.

Lynne Spears also receives a percentage of her daughters' salaries.

Celebrity news sources report, per a source close to the family, that Jamie Spears "refused to take any money and 'profit off of his children.'"

Jamie has recently seen his grandchildren, Sean Preston and Jayden James, the sons of Britney Spears and her ex-husband Kevin Federline, however.

In keeping with its tradition of putting Heidi Montag or the Spears family on the cover for the 235th consecutive week, Us Weekly proclaims that Mother of the Year Lynne Spears destroyed the lives of daughters Britney and Jamie Lynn.

That's a bold statement. Not. Just call her Lynne $pear$.

As the shock of the huge Jamie Lynn Spears pregnancy story slowly fades, questions of responsibility and blame have landed on her mother / manager, Lynne.

Jamie Lynn Spears' own co-star is speaking out against Lynne, who is said to have pushed the 16-year-old in directions she wasn't comfortable with.

"Jamie wanted something different for her life, and her mother put her in situations she didn't want to be in," Alexa Nikolas, Jamie Lynn's co-star on Zoey 101, said.

Unanimously, multiple friends and family members say that unlike Britney, Jamie Lynn never wanted to be a star. "She never cared about celebrity," says one old family friend. "She preferred life back home in Kentwood [Louisiana]."

Destroyed By Lynne Spears

A family friend says Lynne Spears "treats her girls like a piggy bank."

As soon as Jamie Lynn, 16, confided in her mom, 52, about her pregnancy, Lynne convinced her introverted daughter (to the displeasure of her father, Jamie Spears) to break the news via the cover of OK! Magazine. The price: $1 million.

"Lynne knew OK! would pay the most," a source said. "It was her decision."

Which is why even Jamie Lynn's older sister, Britney Spears, was kept out of the loop at first: "They didn't want her to run her mouth and screw up the deal."

Instead, Lynne told K-Fed, which further confused the "singer."

From the start of Britney Spears' career in 1998, Lynne, a former teacher, made sure she received a percentage of money off both her daughters' deals. Shocking.

"Lynne got all her money through those girls and loved it when it started rolling in," a source says. "She's the only one with a Land Rover in Kentwood."

Lynne Spears even managed to get someone to publish a parenting book, written by herself, entitled Pop Culture Mom. It is indefinitely delayed now, however.

Everyone has an opinion on this week's huge celebrity news: the Jamie Lynn Spears pregnant story. It's even spilled over into the presidential campaign.

Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee, a former Baptist minister and the former governor of Arkansas, recently picked up the endorsement of Chuck Norris. Now he's entered the fray on the Jamie Lynn Spears situation.

And while the candidate has been notably caught off-guard by breaking news in recent weeks, he passed this test of pop culture with flying colors.

News of Britney Spears' younger sister's pregnancy broke early this week and is in all the tabloids, including OK! Magazine. On the campaign trail in Iowa, Mike Huckabee was asked how he felt about - what else - pregnant Jamie Lynn.

Even White House hopeful Mike Huckabee is weighing in on Jamie Lynn.

While Huckabee's answer may have fit any out-of-wedlock teenager in the same situation as the younger Spears, the candidate commented with confidence:

"In my mind it's a tragedy when a 16-year-old who is not really prepared for all the responsibilities of adult life is going to be now faced with all of the many responsibilities of honest-to-goodness adult life," he told CBS News.

"Apparently, she's going to have the child and I think that is the right decision, a good decision, and I respect that and appreciate it," Mike Huckabee continued. "I hope it is not an encouragement to other 16-year-olds who think that is the best course of action. But at the same time I'm not going to condemn her."

"There'll be plenty of people in line to do that and I always look for the shortest lines. I just hope that she will make another right decision and that's to give that child all the love and kindness and care that she can."

What do you think? Should Jamie Lynn Spears keep the baby?

The Christian publishers of Lynne Spears' "indefinitely delayed" memoir, to be entitled "Worst Mom Ever Pop Culture Mom," are still going forward with the book, but insist it's (wait for it) not a parenting how-to - but rather, a warning!

Thomas Nelson publishing released the following statement on its website:

A Jamie Lynn Spears Image

"Lynne Spears' memoir will provide a window into the world of fame and worldly success, including the toll it extracts (sic) from some who aspire to it. It will provide a much-needed corrective to a world obsessed with the wrong priorities."

Hmm. Sounds like a perfect gift for, you know... Britney Spears?

Lynne Spears has done a bang-up job with Britney and Jamie Lynn.

The statement issued by Lynne Spears' would-be publisher continues:

"We believe in redemption and are standing with Lynne and her family. Though the book is delayed, we believe God is at work. The story is still being written, and we are confident in His ability to turn ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3)."

It is good to see that Jamie Lynn Spears' pregnancy can still be salvaged by the spin doctors over there at the publisher. While they are still going forward with the book, a rep for Thomas Nelson told celebrity news site TMZ that, "(the) Book is still delayed indefinitely with no set release date."

Life is even more hectic than usual for Britney Spears - and in large part, that's because she's not the center of attention for once. How's that for irony?

On Thursday, after spending a cozy afternoon at her Beverly Hills home with her two sons, Sean Preston, 2, and Jayden James, 1, the reputed singer scheduled - then abruptly canceled - a session at the Millennium Dance Complex.

"She wanted to try out a new dance routine," says a source.

But, in the wake of her 16-year-old sister Jamie Lynn Spears' huge pregnancy announcement, the dance studio was swarmed by hoards of photographers.

Britney, who had been kept in the dark about the baby news until the story broke on Tuesday (Kevin Federline even knew before her), saw the crowd and "freaked out and just kept driving," says a source who was on the scene.

"Britney has said that she doesn't want to deal with the media because she is still so confused and shocked [about hearing Jamie Lynn Spears is pregnant]," a source tells People. "She feels that she needs peace and quiet."

NOTE: It takes Jamie Lynn Spears pregnant to make her realize this?

Britney Spears later shopped for a young, small person. Maybe one of hers.

Britney remained friendly with all the celebrity gossip media during her shopping trip yesterday, however. Although the area offers plenty of great shops, Spears stopped at a random souvenir store on Hollywood Boulevard, where she picked up (and posed with) a Tinkerbell T-shirt and a pink bedazzled onesie. Yippee.

On the way home, Spears also hit one of her familiar haunts - a Carl's Jr. - for a late night snack of a cheeseburger, fries and coke. Too bad they don't sell booze.
