Should Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder Star in 50 Shades of Grey?
Nina Dobrev hasn't read Fifty Shades of Grey yet, but with her name floating around as a possible fit for the female lead, she might want to get on it!
"All I've heard is that it's very scandalous, to say the least," the Vampire Diaries starlet told MTV. "I haven't read it, but I'm intrigued ... who knows?"
"I mean, well, I guess we'll have to see."
With co-star and real-life boyfriend Ian Somerhalder expressing interest in the role of Christian Grey, it's no surprise Dobrev has been linked to Anastasia Steele.
Working with Ian a second time isn't as appealing to Nina as you night think, though. She said if she did play Anastasia, she'd prefer another guy.
"I don't know if that's a good idea," she said of herself and Somerhalder both starring in the movie adaptation of EL James' erotic love story trilogy.
"I think it's best for any of the actors on The Vampire Diaries to kind of do their own things ... and create new characters ... if it's the same people, the fans will alway see me as Elena and they'll see him as Damon if we do a film together."

Ian Somerhalder Named United Nations Ambassador for World Environment Day
Ian Somerhalder might take on the role of Christian Grey in the movie adaption of 50 Shades of Grey.
But he's definitely been named United Nations Ambassador for World Environment Day, an event led last year by Gisele Bundchen and Don Cheadle, who teamed up to encourage folks around the world to mobilize their efforts, register their activities and set a record for clean-up efforts.
"We're all working together," Somerhalder says in the following video, joking that he "couldn't decide between Team Don and Team Gisele," so now he can assist both while promoting a great cause.

Somerhalder, of course, is best known as Damon Salvatore on The Vampire Diaries.
But he's proven time and again - actually testifying in front of Congress last year - that he's a lot more than a pretty face.

Ian Somerhalder is one of several stars talked about as a potentially great fit for Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey.

Asked about it on Ryan Seacrest's radio show Monday, The Vampire Diaries heart throb admitted he's heard the speculation about his casting, and approves.
Asked if he's interested in starring in the film, Ian said: “Potentially. I absolutely would be up for that. I have the book and I just started reading it."
"That would be a pretty incredible thing, and hopefully that could pan out. Yes, beyond the shadow of a doubt I think that would be a phenomenal opportunity!”
The best-selling book's protagonist, Anastasia Steele, and her troubled, controlling man, 27-year-old millionaire Christian Grey, will surely be sought-after roles.

There really is no alternate reaction to the trio of covers Entertainment Weekly just released in honor of The Vampire Diaries, specifically stars Nina Dobrev, Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley. All three are featured across the main cover and two collector's items, and nary a shirt is to be seen...
Copies of the issue go on sale Friday, while inside producers Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson dish on the challenge of writing for a show with dueling, passionate fan bases.
"When we want Stefan and Elena to have a moment together, how can we do that and not have our Delena fans outraged?” Plec asks.
We've got an idea, Julie: just take Damon's shirt off. That will satisfy all viewers.

Nina Dobrev "Freaking Out" Over Ian Somerhalder Proposal: Report
Their characters shared their first real kiss on The Vampire Diaries last week, but a new report suggests things have taken a turn for the worse in real life for Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev.
According to In Touch Weekly, the actor proposed to his long-time girlfriend over the holidays, but the response was not exactly what Somerhalder has been dreaming about.
“She is freaking out, saying, ‘I don’t want to marry him!’” a friend claims. “She thinks she’s too young, and with all the offers she’s getting, she’s poised to be a big star... They were having fun, and now there’s a lot of tension.”
Call us crazy, but if Dobrev doesn't want to wake up alongside Somerhalder every morning for the rest of her life, we have a feeling a few (million) other women might.
UPDATE: Ian's rep has shot down this rumor, saying no proposal ever took place.

Ian Somerhalder Makes Birthday Plea to Fans
A hearty happy birthday is due for Ian Somerhalder today, but The Vampire Diaries star doesn't want a card, a hug or even an iPhone 4 from fans.
Instead, the 33-year old would love fans to donate to his IS Foundation, a charity that looks out for the environment and which has already changed Canadian sled dog laws; delayed the Keystone XL Pipeline; and banned shark fins in California.
In the following video, Somerhalder makes this plea, asking supporters to give whatever they can. In exchange, you might have an email from Ian appear in your Inbox next week:

Both are involved in heated Fashion Face-Offs at the moment - versus Britt Robertson HERE, and Wilson Bethel HERE - but Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev have taken a few moments to talk openly about their relationship for the first time.
The Vampire Diaries co-stars were outed as a couple this summer, photographed in Paris together, and they each gushed about the other on Saturday night at The CW premiere party in Burbank, CA.
"She truly enjoys life," Somerhalder told Us Weekly of Dobrev, who dates his on-scren brother, Stefan, on the aforementioned (AWESOME!) CW drama. "Her desire to experience and appreciate everything around her, and chuckle and enjoy it, is great."
