Haley Reinhart's version of Carole King's "Beautiful" - a bit of a surprise choice from the singer - was good, but not great last night on American Idol.

But we can blame her background singers and ear monitor, neither of which did her any favors. Despite those hiccups, it was a cool arrangement.

Heck, to hear one observer tell it, it was beyond perfect: "Haley, you are as beautiful as all that song is," Steven Tyler says. "I just saw God."

Not hyperbolic at all, is he? In all seriousness, she was good:

Matching efforts by James Durbin, Casey Abrams or even Lauren Alaina was a tall order for Haley Reinhart, who chose to sing Adele's "Rolling the Deep."

While choosing such a current hit is always a risk (especially a hit sung by, you know, Adele), Haley did her best to do it justice, vocally and emotionally.

Jennifer said there were moments where she did it better than Adele. We're not going that far, because it was far from perfect. But she held her own.

Haley Reinhart sang Blondie's "Call Me" Wednesday night, and she certainly nailed the song's calling card - the "Call me!" exclamations in the chorus.

But she botched some notes and despite having all kinds of fun up there on stage, sort of lost her way. So much so that the judges even criticized her!

Watch her performance here and see if Reinhart deserved it:

"I didn't love at the beginning of it," opined Randy. "I don't know if it was the song that didn't do it for me. It just wasn't a showcase for your voice."

Steven concurred, and Jennifer said that "If I'm going to be honest, I'm going to agree with Randy." By J. Lo standards, that's tearing a new one!

Will she be in the American Idol bottom three? You tell us.

"If you want Janis, I'll give it to you." - Haley Reinhart

The American Idol judges have been comparing Haley Reinhart to Janis Joplin all season, so it was only fitting that she chose the legendary rocker's "Piece of My Heart" on Rock & Roll Hall of Fame week. But did she do it justice?

Not entirely. But she also didn't bomb by any means ...

Steven Tyler said that, "I couldn't find nothing wrong with that ... Janis gave the voice to rock 'n' roll back in '68, and you did it again tonight."

Easy there. While she's worthy of her spot in the finals and clearly improving out there, she's going to have to step it up a bit to stick around.

Think she'll be on the block tonight?

American Idol saves the final spot in its performance shows for its favorites, its most buzz-worthy contestants.

Therefore, it was a bit perplexing last night when the concluding act was not Pia Toscano or Jacob Lusk or James Dubin. Instead, Haley Reinhart was given the honor...

... and she proceeded to prove she was worthy of it.

Covering "Bennie and the Jets," Haley started out lounging on a piano (the same one Durbin set on fire) and ended up waving her arms around on stage, clearing having fun and leading Steven Tyler to quip: "You. Sing. Sexy."

Randy called this the best performance of the night. Do you agree?

Was it boring or did it result in roaring?

Of all the American Idol finalists who took to the stage last night, Haley Reinhart received the most mixed feedback from the judges.

Randy Jackson gave Haley props for going from Alicia Keys one week to LeAnn Rimes the next, but he also referred to her rendition of "Blue" as "sleepy" and "boring." Steven Tyler, conversely, said you could hear the parts of America who loved country western music "roaring" over the performance.

Jennifer Lopez? She just spouted praise-filled nonsense, as always. Watch Reinhart yodel her way through an interesting song choice below and gauge your own opinion on the contestant:
