Gwyneth Paltrow made news for two reasons this week:

1. She was named the World's Most Beautiful Woman.
2. She wore a ridiculous dress to the Iron Man 3 premiere.

But at least someone out there is a fan of the gown below: Paltrow's stylist, Elizabeth Saltzman.

"I's cool, it's daring in a no-daring way. Nonthreatening. Elegant," Saltzman told Us Weekly. "It looked great on her … it showed off her body. It's spirit without being vulgar."

By now you probably know the 2012 Academy Award winners.

Now it's time to vote in for main event: The fashion winners!

In the first of many THG Oscar Fashion Face-Offs this morning, The Descendants' Shailene Woodley takes on Gwyneth Paltrow in a battle of glamorous white gowns.

Shailene's looks great, but some feel her dress was age-inappropriate (she's 22). Gwyneth, meanwhile, appeared to be wearing a cape, which she pulled off.

Jane Lynch hosted, but Gwyneth Paltrow put on her own show at Sunday's Emmy Awards in a see-through Pucci dress that showcased her toned stomach.

Not the kind of thing you normally see on someone not named Kardashian, but she does look amazing for 38. Did she push it too far with this, though?

It's been a crazy year for Sandra. Since the '10 Oscars - when she won for The Blind Side - she divorced Jesse James and adopted a boy from New Orleans.

Suffice it to say, she's bounced back nicely, and while she admits being more tired than a year ago, looked lovely as ever on the red carpet Sunday in L.A.

Gwyneth, meanwhile, looked downright statuesque and proved why she's considered a celebrity fashion icon by so many. So who dressed best? Vote:

Cuties may not even do these two justice, based on the dresses they donned Sunday night. Black Swan star Mila Kunis' gown can best be described as head-snapping for reasons we don't even need to get into here. But seriously, wow.

Mandy Moore, meanwhile, was also on hand to perform "I See the Light" from her hit animated film Tangled, and looked so beautiful it was hard to believe this was Mandy Moore. No offense to Mandy Moore, it's just ... wow again.

Gwyneth Paltrow and Gemma Arterton starrted in two of the biggest movies of the year.

But these beauties have more in common than the box office receipts earned by Iron Man and Quantum of Solace.

Each actress was spotted out in a Preen minidress over the last few months, with Paltrow promoting Iron Man in hers; and the latest Bond Girl sizzling in the same outfit at the 2008 British Academy Children's Awards.

Who wears this dress better?

Gwyneth Paltrow, who starred in Iron Man over the summer, would have been better off sporting a dress made from that metal than the monstrosity she donned during a public appearance earlier this week.

Unsure whether to cover her lingerie or not, the actress did the next worst thing: she donned an outfit that appeared to expose her negligee. Yikes.
