Rapper Gucci Mane just accepted a plea deal on gun possession charges, admitting guilt in exchange for a reduced sentence. That's the good news.

The bad news? The sentence he'll likely receive will be "reduced" from 10 years to three, and three years in prison is still a long time by any measure.

Gucci pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm by a convicted felon after being arrested last year for having a gun and weed as well as threatening cops.

He'll get credit for time served since the arrest.

Mane will officially be sentenced in July, at which point he'll have spent 10 months locked up out of 39. Of the remaining 29, he could be paroled early.

Might not end up being too bad in the end but there's also the $250,000 fine, legal fees, and the fact that he's in jail and not out there making money, so ...

Don't pack heat illegally, people.

Rapper Gucci Mane was arrested early Saturday morning for a number of alleged infractions, including threatening police officers and gun possession.

Gooch was taken into custody at 12:05 a.m. this morning after an incident in which one of his friends complained to police about his erratic behavior.

The friend waved down the cops to help out (with what, it's unclear), but as they approached, Gucci Mane began "cursing and threatening them."

Probably not a smart move under any circumstances, but especially not if you're carrying marijuana and a handgun on your person, which he apparently was.

Mane was thus arrested for carrying a concealed weapon, disorderly conduct and marijuana possession. He was also hospitalized as a precaution.

Earlier this week, a profane, epically long Gucci Mane Twitter rant made news, with the rapper bragging about his sexual exploits and more. See below:

Gucci Mane knows a thing or two about assault. This is a man who tattooed his own face with a picture of an ice cone.

But the rapper has now been arrested for the alleged assault of someone else, as authorities say Mane was interacting with a man at Harlem Night Ultra Lounge on March 16 when he grew irritated by the fan and clocked him in the head with a champagne bottle.

The victim - a soldier who says he just wanted a photo with the artist - was taken to an Atlanta hospital and treated for a head wound.

A warrant for aggravated assault, meanwhile, has been issued for Mane, whose real name is Radric Davis and who was charged with murder in 2005.

As mandated by the court, he also spent time last year in a mental facility.
