A Washington, D.C. middle school teacher is under scrutiny for using a Venn diagram to compare George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler as part of a homework assignment.

In the assignment, McKinley Middle School students were asked to compare and contrast the “two men of power who abused their power in various ways.”

After the diagram was posted to Twitter, D.C. Public Schools released a statement acknowledging the diagram and condemning the teacher for it:

"This week, a DCPS teacher created a worksheet which asked students to compare and contrast President George W. Bush and Adolf Hitler, after reading two texts."

"No DCPS curriculum materials suggest in any way that teachers should compare the texts in this manner or compare Hitler to any other individual."

"The teacher deeply regrets this mistake, and any suggestion to malign the office of the presidency or make any comparison in this egregious way."

Former President George W. Bush defended PRISM, the Internet spying program he helped enact, while taking whistleblower Edward Snowden to task.

"I put that program in place to protect the country. One of the certainties was that civil liberties were guaranteed," Bush told CNN in an interview airing Monday.

"I think there needs to be a balance, and as the president explained, there is."

PRISM began under the Bush administration but stayed secret until The Washington Post and The Guardian (UK) revealed its existence last month.

In a rare event, all five living U.S. Presidents converged today for the official opening of George W. Bush's presidential library in Dallas, Texas.

Toward the end of Game of Thrones Season 1, this HBO epic shocked viewers by slicing off the head of protagonist Ned Stark.

Now, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have given fans another major surprise: in newly-released DVD commentary, the creators admit that one of the heads depicted on a stick during last year's finale was actually of former President George W. Bush!

"It's not a choice. It's not a political statement," the creator insist. "It's just... we had to use what heads we had lying around."
