People magazine doesn't lie. And neither do our eyes. One look at a George Clooney picture makes it apparent why the actor was just named Sexiest Man Alive - for the second time.

George Clooney in the Crowd

He joins pal and Ocean's 13 co-star Brad Pitt as the only multiple time winners. He also joins the publication for the following interview:

On whether he'll ever have kids:
"I think it's the most responsible thing you can do, to have kids. It's not something to be taken lightly. I don't have that gene that people have to replicate. But everything in my life has changed over time."

On his vow to "never marry again" " and whether he's changed his mind:
"The truth is, I haven't softened my position on anything, but it's not something I deal with on a regular basis. Who knows? I've been married (in the early '90s, to actress Talia Balsam). It's not something I'm looking out for. The truth is, I'm really happy."

On what he finds attractive:
"Everybody says this, but sense of humor is No. 1 for me. It's certainly what's most attractive. It's not the first thing you notice at 21, but it's the first thing you notice now. You also have to have a sense of humor about my life.

It certainly has had an effect on relationships, but I would bet less of an effect than my own issues or insecurities. You can't really blame outside forces for things not working out. You have to take some responsibility."

** THG Note: Hear that, Jude Law?

On being in the tabloids:
"I usually don't notice anymore. The funniest thing is that recently a story came out that I was with some girl from Deal or No Deal whom I had never even met."

** THG Note: Other stories have linked Clooney with Ellen Barkin.

On his favorite on-set pranks:
"There were so many. It's a constant battle of evil, rotten things."

On being named Sexiest Man Alive for a second time:
"This one's going to be hard for Brad (Pitt) since he's been Sexiest Man Alive twice. He's enjoyed that mantle. I'd say 'Sexiest Man Alive' to him and he'd go, 'Two-time.' So that's been taken away. We used to call him Two Time. So Brad's going to be upset."

... and they're doing something about it!

A public service announcement featuring the famous of the famous is set to air. Among those pledging their support against poverty include Matt Damon, Don Cheadle, Julia Roberts and George Clooney.

A Clooney Close Up

The stars recently filmed a public service announcement that shows them patiently waiting their turn at a voting booth.

The queue also includes New England Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady, Toby Keith and Alfre Woodard.

But they're not promoting a candidate or political party. The ad is an effort to raise support for ONE: The Campaign to Make Poverty History.

"This is a first step in a long-term effort to start making the fight against global AIDS and extreme poverty part of the election conversation, and Americans can be part of that by joining ONE.org," Damon says in the spot, which is slated to run through Nov. 7's Election Day.

The PSA started airing Monday on MTV and will also run on FOX, Comedy Central, Spike TV and other stations, as well as MySpace.com and YouTube.com.

Says Clooney: "Both this election and as we start to look toward 2008, you can talk with the candidates, you can get on their Web sites, let them know that you will be asking them about their positions and to do even more to save lives in Africa and the world's poorest countries."

Adds country star Keith, "My deal has always been, forget politics. … I've been to Africa and seen it firsthand; it left a mark on me that I have to live with now, so I want to do my part."

According to the official Web site for ONE (www.one.org), which was launched with the help of Bono, the organization "is a coalition of 2 million people and over 70 non-profit, advocacy and humanitarian organizations."

The site points out that ONE is supported by "such notable people as: Brad Pitt, Tom Hanks, Pat Robertson, Kate Hudson, Rick Warren, Jamie Foxx, Jars of Clay, Penelope Cruz, Dave Matthews, Salma Hayek, George Clooney, Bill Gates and many, many others."

We know. This ranks right up there with Brooke Hogan has no talent.

Or Sara Evans shouldn't order Cinemax in her next marriage.

Gorgeous George

But it's still worth reporting that George Clooney and the women who love him showed up for the American Cinematheque's tribute to the 45-year-old actor at the Beverly Hilton hotel Friday night.

What did Clooney's leading ladies have to say about him? According to the New York Daily News:

Ocean's 13 costar Ellen Barkin announced
:
"Yes, I have fâ€" George Clooney. I always heard that George has amazing chemistry with all of his co-stars. Now I see why. … I'm probably the only one of many actresses to stand up here and admit yes, I have fâ€" George Clooney. I'm very proud of it actually ... If you don't have chemistry with George Clooney, you need to check your pulse."

Julia Roberts:
"Before I met my husband, you were the best man I ever met. … You're cute and funny and you do wacky things with shaving cream and Neosporin."

Before anyone could conjure a picture of George lathering Julia up, she added, "I don't mean that in a sexy way."

Salma Hayek:
"Girls, he's the best friend you can have. But he'd make a lousy boyfriend." She added: "For a non-Mexican, he makes the best shrimp quesadillas I have had."

Clooney's response?
"I do have regrets in my life. I regret that Michelle Pfeiffer was married when we did One Fine Day. And that Julia and Catherine Zeta-Jones were married, too.

Also Matt Damon, but that's a different story. I'd like a crack at him."

Maybe George Clooney isn't running for president. But that doesn't mean the actor lacks grand plans.

He's about to become a serial dater.

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler on the Red Carpet

"Here is my theory on debunking photographs in magazines, you know, the paparazzi photographs," Clooney said to Vanity Fair for its November issue. "I want to spend every single night for three months going out with a different famous actress."

Explaining his plan, he continued, "You know, Halle Berry one night, Salma Hayek the next, and then walk on the beach holding hands with Leonardo DiCaprio."
We assume he's joking. But Clooney could probably pull it off.

The effect, he hypothesizes is that "people would still buy the magazines, they'd still buy the pictures, but they would always go, 'I don't know if these guys were putting us on or not.'"
On a more serious note, Clooney has many good things to say about fellow performers.

"I will tell you right now â€" (Cate Blanchett) will win the Oscar," he says of his co-star in the upcoming The Good German. "She's the best actor working today. Not actress, she's an actor. Intimidating, in a way, to work with an actor that good."

Moreover, Johnny Depp "just keeps doing really good stuff. He's just a really, really smart and good actor."

Last year's Best Supporting Actor winner reserves his highest praise for Clive Owen, however. He deems the intsense star as "the big find in the past two or three years. … I think he's a movie star. He's, like, a man â€" there's a sexuality and a masculinity that I think is really interesting."

Does this mean Clooney and Owen may appear, hand in hand, on a magazine cover in the near future? You never know. If James Blunt can snag Petra Nemcova, almost any pairing seems possible.

Many in Hollywood want to see this actor in the White House. One problem? George Clooney doesn't plan on running.

Although he's spoken at the U.N. and rubbed shoulders with senators, the hunk downplayed suggestions that he might run for office himself someday.

George Clooney and Stacy Keibler

"Believe me, you don't want me in politics," Clooney told reporters after an event where California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed legislation to help stop the atrocities in Darfur, a cause the former ER star is close to.

Told that fans have been wearing George Clooney 2008 t-shirts, he said, "I think they're probably kidding."

He said that any attempt at the presidency was a "a bad idea," which at least was a calmer reaction to that of Oprah Winfrey when the topic was raised.

Clooney pointed out that he and Schwarzenegger had costarred in 1997's Batman & Robin â€" Clooney played the hero while Schwarzenegger played the bad guy, Mr. Freeze.

"He's gone on to be governor, and I still think I'm Batman," the Oscar-winner joked.

Okay, so George and Oprah are both off the ballot. Who remains as Hollywood's best presidential candidate?

We may vote for Amanda Peet. Have you seen her on Stuido 60 on the Sunset Strip? That woman gets things done.

There's a lot more to George Clooney than good clothing.

The Oscar winner - who was recently among People magazine's Best Dressed in Hollywood - warned the United Nation's most powerful body Thursday that if it did not send peacekeepers to Sudan's Darfur region, millions would die in the first genocide of the 21st century.

Elisabetta and George

Clooney and his journalist father Nick Clooney spent five days in Darfur in April, gathering personal stories of the death and suffering that has ravaged the region. Both have worked since their return to publicize the plight of the people there.

The mandate of African Union peacekeepers in Darfur expires at the end of the month and the Sudanese government has rejected their replacement by a U.N. force. If U.N. forces are not sent to replace them, Clooney warned the Security Council, all aid workers would leave and the 2.5 million refugees who depend on them would die.

"After September 30, you won't need the U.N. You will simply need men with shovels and bleached white linen and headstones," the actor said.

More than 200,000 people have been killed in the Darfur conflict, while over two million have fled their homes since 2003 when ethnic African tribes revolted against the Arab-led Khartoum government.

"The United States has called it genocide," Clooney told council members. "For you, it's called ethnic cleansing. But make no mistake it is the first genocide of the 21st century," he said.

"... This genocide will be on your watch. How you deal with it will be your legacy, your Rwanda, your Cambodia, your Auschwitz," Clooney said. "We were brought up to believe that the U.N. was formed to ensure that the Holocaust could never happen again."

Clooney was addressing the Security Council at an informal briefing organized by the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity, which recently set up a Darfur Commission of Nobel laureates.

There have been rumors floating around that the actor is dating Ellen Barkin - but she was nowhere to be seen during this important briefing.

We may be getting ahead of ourselves, but perhaps George Clooney won't feel so left out from his married Ocean's 13 co-stars for very much longer.

As Brad Pitt and Matt Damon discuss newborns on the set of the film, Clooney has reportedly developed a "close relationship" with co-star Ellen Barkin.

According to The London Mirror, this year's Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actor has been supporting Barken, 52, through a recent divorce. The actress has just ended her marriage with billionaire Ron Perelman.

So she's got money!

But Clooney is no Heather Mills. It's safe to assume he'd be in this relationship for matters of the heart, not the wallet.

A source at the newspaper said: "George has been a shoulder to cry on for Ellen - he's helping her get over the divorce.

"She fancies him like mad and you can cut the sexual chemistry on set with a knife. He is so different from her ex husband, which she loves."

Perhaps George Clooney should call Drew Barrymore.

London Movie Premiere Pic

After all, the ET and Charlie's Angels actress says she's ready for a baby - while Clooney is reportedly feeling left out on the set of Ocean's Thirteen because he doesn't have a new tyke of his own at home. Sounds like an ideal match!

See, Clooney's co-stars, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, each became fathers recently. The result? Less talk about going all in during the crew's Texas Hold 'Em game, more talk about teething.

An inside source on the set says George "calls them the New Dad's Club because they talk about little else." Clooney can't exactly relate, not that there aren't approximately 2.7 billion women who'd love to sire the actor's child.

"They've been exchanging diaper changing techniques and trying to outdo each other with gruesome stories about toilet habits," the source said of Pitt and Damon.

Just a note, fellas: if you want gross, check out this picture of Nicole Richie!
