On Christmas, Love reached out to Cobain, 20, with a cheery holiday message: "Merry Christmas Bean!! love you more than you could ever know. xmamma."

Later in the day, she replied, Tweeting "merry christmas kooksmcgee."

Courtney Love apparently realizes the error of her celebrity gossip-reading ways.

Who knows where she even heard the rumor, but Love angered her daughter by claiming that former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl hit on Frances Bean Cobain.

Dave and Frances denied this vehemently, and Love, Kurt Cobain's widow, says she regrets spreading the rumor. Courtney apologized, again on Twitter.

"Bean, sorry I believed the gossip," Love tweeted Saturday. "Mommy loves you."

Frances angrily answered her mom's accusations late last week saying:

"While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I am in a monogamous relationship and very happy."

Frances is engaged to Isaiah Silva, frontman of the band the Rambles.

Grohl also said the claims were "offensive and absolutely untrue."

Frances Bean Cobain has lashed out at her mother Courtney Love for claiming on Twitter than her late husband's bandmate Dave Grohl hit on her.

Love claimed Grohl "hit on" Frances and is "obsessed" with the teenage daughter of Kurt Cobain, and that "she was curious" about him as well.

Frances wasted no time in pointedly slamming the rumor and her mom.

"While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn," says Frances. "I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I'm in a monogamous relationship and very happy."

Frances adds: "Twitter should ban my mother."

Grohl, the Nirvana drummer turned Foo Fighters frontman, also ripped Love, who claimed he was "sexually obsessed" with Frances and/or Kurt.

"Unfortunately Courtney is on another hateful Twitter rant," Grohl, the married father of two daughters, says through his rep in response.

"These new accusations are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue."

For her part, Frances Bean Cobain, 19, is happy at least, getting engaged to Isaiah Silva, frontman of the rock band the Rambles, last fall.

Courtney Love fired off a Twitter missive in which she accuses former Nirvana member Dave Grohl of hitting on her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.

Grohl angrily denied the allegation.

What the Foo Fighters frontman is referring to is a series of tweets the 47-year-old Love, the late Kurt Cobain's widow, lobbed last night online.

SIDE NOTE: Hilariously, her allegations against @davegrohl actually went to a German IT student by that name ... it's not the rocker's account.

Anyway, Love Tweeted the following:

"I hear from frannies roommate that @davegrohl hit on frances, and that she was curious, I'm not mad at her, him I am about to shoot, dead."

Courtney Love is described as mentally unstable in newly released deposition papers filed by her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, who sought a restraining order in 2009.

Frances Bean, now 19, says Love’s behavior even caused her pets' death.

Their cat kicked it after getting entangled in Love’s messy piles of "Etsy fabrics, boxes of paperwork, trash and other possessions,” according to the court papers, while the dog swallowed several of Love’s stash of prescription pills.

In order to ensure that no other pets fell victim to Love’s pill-popping habits, Cobain included her dog, Uncle Fester, on the restraining order which was granted.

Among those Love was ordered to avoid contact with include Cobain, Uncle Fester, Cobains’ grandmother and her aunt. The primary reason? Love's drug use.

“(She) has taken drugs for as long as I can remember,” Cobain said.

“She basically exists now on ... Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes. She rarely eats ... She often falls asleep in bed while smoking."

"I am constantly worried that she will start a fire (which she has done at least three times to date) that will threaten all of our lives.”

Is Frances Bean Cobain engaged?

The 19-year-old daughter of Courtney Love and the late Kurt Cobain has been dating Isaiah Silva for more than a year. He's in an L.A.-based band, the Rambles.

The engagement rumors started after both quietly changed their Facebook relationship status to engaged a few weeks ago, according to the OC Weekly. Hooray!

A source confirms their happy news of Cobain's engagement to People, as well. However, they have since changed their statuses back, so ... that's something.

Another source tells Us the engagement is still on, though. So who knows.

According to the report, the couple both use fake names on Facebook – she goes by Frances Rachel Leigh Cook, while he uses Isaiah David Berkowitz-Cusack.

Their Facebook pages show comments that hint at an engagement.

"Getting to spend the rest of my life loving my best friend makes me the luckiest woman in the world," Frances Bean Cobain wrote at one point of Isaiah Silva.

Cobain, who was just 20 months old when she lost her dad, has had a whirlwind of an upbringing to say the least. Here's hoping she's happy, engaged or not.

Courtney Love has issues.

Her daughter, with the late Kurt Cobain, Frances Bean, just turned 18, and let's just say Court didn't mark the occasion with a nice Hallmark card.

Frances Bean Cobain was publicly blistered by her rock star mom on Twitter in a string of vintage Courtney Love impassioned, nonsensical attacks.

She was scolded that "youve done a damned good job frances of destroying anything i could build" and warned that Love can and will "ruiinher."

"Why would you leave me and my life in tatters like this" reads another Love Tweet. "was that therapist right? Why do you want to ruin my life?"

But in typical Courtney fashion, she turns on a dime to regrets and seemingly bona dide compliments, Tweeting that she "aches" for her daughter.

"I long for your kiss, your sweet head smell," she notes sweetly, with odd word choices. "I long for youm I ache for youm I die for you every day."

"im done, you arent dumb you know what youve done what youve sold i couldnt shelter you from them i suppose its my fault, im so sorry bean. x"

The two have engaged in a vicious, often public battle since late last year, when her own unstable conduct cost her legal guardianship of Frances.

Courtney's latest album, Nobody's Daughter, written while the star was in rehab, was released in April, just weeks after Frances released a record.

Maybe mom and daughter can mend fences and collaborate on a record together next? Some of these Tweets would make for tremendous lyrics.

Early last week, we reported that Courtney Love lost custody of daughter Frances Bean Cobain, her only child with her late husband, rocker Kurt Cobain.

What wasn't specified was why Frances Bean is now under guardianship of Kurt's mother and sister (sparking a series of Facebook rants from Courtney).

A new clue has just surfaced, however. Lawyers in the case have asked to seal the documents relating "to a minor and allegations of domestic violence."

Documents were filed by lawyers December 11 for the Cobains' guardianship, which was established on behalf of minor Frances Bean Cobain, who is 17.

A judge stripped Love of legal control over her daughter. Court papers do not get specific, either, but do refer to sealing Frances Bean's medical records.

The docs also say, "In this proceeding, every document reveals details of Frances's (sic) relationship with her mother." It sounds like abuse was alleged.

A restraining order now prohibits "Courtney Love Cobain from certain behavior and from coming within a certain distance of Frances and her guardians."

Love's online ramblings - most recently warning her daughter not to become Jamie Lynn Spears - are well documented, but her attorney says she has not relapsed and this "is simply about Frances preferring to live with her grandmother."

We'll see if more information becomes available and whether that's true.

In yet another insane Facebook rant, Courtney Love derided her estranged, teenage daughter Frances Bean Cobain with a cheap shot at Jamie Lynn Spears.

Yes, we're serious.

After slamming her 17-year-old daughter as "deceptive" earlier this week, Love ranted late Wednesday afternoon that she's not upset with Frances Bean.

"id just prefer she not become Jaimie [sic] L Spears," Love wrote, referring to Britney Spears' little sister, who had a daughter, Maddie Briann, at age 17.

So uncalled for. So nonsensical. So hilarious.

Love continues her advice to Frances: "she should be a writer or an a... artist wich i support 100% but this is a circus it pains me cos i know she hates it."

We're loving it, at least.

In case you missed it, Frances Bean Cobain is now under temporary guardianship of her aunt and paternal grandmother, Kurt Cobain's mom and sister.

The Cobains won't say why Courtney Love lost custody, but the rocker has been Facebooking like a madwoman ever since, lambasting her only child.

This isn't the first time the Spears clan has been involved, either.

For some reason, Love recently took aim at Britney and her dad Jamie Spears, writing that "britneys dad molested her" in a November 25 Facebook post.

We don't get it either.

What we do know is Facebook is Love's only mode of reaching out to Frances after a judge issued a restraining order against her, barring any contact.

"There's not a whole lot i can do about it," Love wrote, referring to Cobain's relatives, who she implied are responsible for Kurt's death in a prior post:

"This is a hand grenade thrown into our lives and it's not Frances!"

She later added: "im despairing and so sad, so sad, but i just want to her be happy, get her house and get her school and thats all ive ever wanted."
