Fiona Apple is always one to keep things interesting. The singer never mails in a live performance, but you also never know just what you're going to see.

Case in point? She impressed Monday night at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in L.A., yet still managed to shock audience members with her outspoken nature.

Near the end of the show, she ignored a heckler shouting out song requests, acknowledging that we all have things we want to get off our chests at times.

She proceeded to explain that years ago, her father, actor Brandon Maggart, got a bad review from film critic Rex Reed, who misspelled Maggart's name.

That was only the start of it. Apparently he also "f--ked with people and how they looked." She continued, "I've wanted to do this for a long time."

"Daddy, this is for you. Rex Reed: you're a c--t."

The Fiona Apple arrest story continues to get better and better.

First, the singer was booked on charges of hashish possession in Texas last week. Not a huge deal, right?

But then she went off on a bizarre public rant regarding the incident (below), telling concert goers she'll make the arresting officers "f-cking famous" as a punishment for their actions.

Now Rusty Fleming - the Hudspeth County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer - has penned a letter to Apple in which he absolutely, positively lays into the artist.

Fiona Apple got arrested for hashish possession in Texas last week.

In an on-stage rant Friday night, she discussed the incident, apologizing for behaving inappropriately ... then threatening four unnamed individuals.

Take a listen ...

Fiona wasted little time getting into the topic in Houston, telling the crowd, "I'm just gonna get this over with right away...First thing is the guy who runs the jail…he's a good guy, I want to apologize to him."

"I'm not going to say his name because he isn't interested in fame… and I only met him yesterday morning and I'm apologizing to him for being attitude-y."

"Most people were very nice to me [but] there are four of you out there and I want you to know that I heard everything you did. I wrote it all down with your names and everything you did and said stupidly thinking I couldn't hear or see you."

Mmmmmkay. What did they do exactly?

Sierra Blanca, Tex., is quickly becoming the celebrity mugshot capital of the world, with Willie Nelson, Snoop Dogg, Armie Hammer and now Fiona.

Here's Apple's booking photo taken after her bus was searched:

Apple was arrested for possession and is currently being held at Hudspeth County Jail.

What she needs is a ... wait for it ... [fill in the blank in the comments]
