We hope you're sitting down for this, readers: the new smash hit from Fergie is NOT about a bridge in London; nor does it refer to a nursery rhyme.

Evidently, "London Bridge" refers to a sexual act of some sort. Yes, Jack Nicholson would be proud of the member of The Black Eyed Peas.

Being Fergielicious

The song, which is included on her debut solo album "The Dutchess," refers to when two women and two men have sex and form a position to make a "bridge." We're having trouble picturing that, too, don't worry.

Despite writing about the racy subject, Fergie insists she has never participated in the act.

"Have I ever been involved in one? No I don't think I ever have actually. No, no I haven't," the singer said. "But I'm definitely touching on issues that aren't childlike!"

Gosh, we hope Sutton Pierce Federline isn't listening in that case.

In the chorus of the song, Fergie sings, "How come every time you come around, my London Bridge wanna go down?"

The Gossip just figured it was our natural good looks.

Hey, wanna receive numerous nominations for the American Music Awards? Just don't release an album.

That strategy seems to have paid off for Mariah Carey, who's last CD hit stores a year and a half ago. Nevertheless, for the second consecutive year, Mimi leads the nominations at the Dick Clark-produced trophyfest.

Long, Lean and Hairless

Carey, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Black Eyed Peas and Nickelback each snagged a field-best three nods for this year's event.

Mariah is once again up for Favorite Female Artist in both the Pop/Rock and Soul/Rhythm & Blues categories, as well as a nod for Favorite Album in the latter category.

Fergie and her fellow Peas are up for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Album, along with Favorite Artist in both Rap/Hip-Hop and Soul/Rhythm & Blues.

Also racking up multiple nominations were virtually any artists who managed to score some airplay this year: Mary J. Blige, Kelly Clarkson, Eminem, Kanye West, Jamie Foxx, Rascal Flatts, T.I., Carrie Underwood and Pussycats Dolls all scored two nods apiece.

Underwood and the Pussycat Dolls will do battle with Chamillionaire in the redundantly named Favorite New Breakthrough Artist race.

Unfortunately, Fergie wasn't always dropping her London Bridge for millions of fans.

With her debut solo CD, "The Dutchess," coming out today, the singer born as Stacy Ferguson talked to New York gay nightlife magazine, HK, about her pre-Black Eyed Peas struggles.

Ferg a licious

"You lose weight and look great for a while, but I don't care if it takes six months or five years, it will creep up on you," Fergie said of her crystal meth addiction.

In other news, the performer has been dating Hollywood hunk and Las Vegas star, Josh Duhamel, for a few years, but reveals she would switch teams - go all Ellen DeGeneres on us - for Mrs. Marilyn Manson, Dita Von Teese.

Is that the only one, Fergs? Have you never seen any Jessica Alba pictures?

The Southern California native has been touring the world with the Peas, but claims she's still Stacy from the block.

"I definitely am still that girl who gets home and goes straight to Jack in the Box or Taco Bell right after I land at the airport," Fergie said, perhaps explaining where she gets her humps ... her humps, her lovely lady humps.

Overall, however, the artist is well aware of her good fortunate. It wasn't that long ago that she had no job and suffered through a period worse off than the recent one of Eddie Murphy.

"I was collecting unemployment when I joined Black Eyed Peas, so I really appreciate the worth of things."

The Dutchess, the first solo album from Black Eyed Peas' front woman, Fergie, is climbing up the charts.

As the gains popularity on her own, the singer has advice for others inside and oustide the music industry: Beware of crystal meth.

The Peas Perform

"It was the hardest boyfriend I ever had to break up with," Fergie said to Time magazine. "I dug deep as to why I got there. It's the drug that's addicting. But it's why you start doing it in the first place that's interesting. A lot of it was being a child actor; I learned to suppress feelings."

At least now the starlet has performing - and the selection of interesting outfits for awards shows - to keep her distracted and entertained.

"We're on tour," she said. "I have an hour and a half of performing every night and improvising. If there's a rafter, I can climb right on."

Fortunately, Fergie hasn't encountered the same problems in Britain with her name as Diddy has; despite a rather well known Duchess of York sharing it.

"She called me on the phone," said the Southern California-born singer (real name: Stacy Ferguson). "We're talking about doing some charity work together, building schools."

Quick, who won the award for Best Rap Video at the MTV Video Music Awards this past week? No one remembers. Those moon men are forgotten about almost instantly.

But the celebrity fashion remains seared in our minds forever. Or at least a few days. Especially when the stars in question are looking at hot as Shakira and Fergie, below.

She and the Peas are currently on tour throughout the U.S. and Canada.

What's Fergie's secret to success? Maybe it's her laid-back attitude. She recently revealed she hasnt weighed herself in years because she doesnt think its a good gauge, she told J-14 magazine.

"Im more interested in how my clothes fit," she said. "Sometimes Ill put a bathing suit on, just to look at my body and listen to it - even if its the dead of winter."
