Eric Hill's tragic death after being eliminated from The Bachelorette this season put the show in a difficult position of deciding how much attention to give it.

Do you think they went too far, or handled it just right?

Hill died following a paragliding accident about three months ago, while the ABC reality show was still filming; it didn’t change the show’s outcome.

Andi Dorfman had already sent Eric home, but the news of his passing was bound to be jarring to her, and the guys who had been hiscompanions.

The producers of The Bachelorette dedicated the season to him and put out a statement mourning his loss, both classy and appropriate gestures.

Also, to conclude the episode in which he was sent home, Dorfman and Chris Harrison reflected on Eric rather than airing the usual rose ceremony.

Some felt these things were outweighed, though, by the fact that this week, ABC also televised the moment that they told Andi about Eric Hill's death.

The Bachelorette was rocked by the death of Eric Hill, which took place during the season, and last night, we saw the reaction of the remaining cast members.

As The Bachelorette spoilers indicated, there was no delay in filming after star Andi Dorfman and her final four suitors found out the tragic news.

It sure had an impact, though, after Chris Harrison summoned the five to his home to personally tell them that Hill died following a paragliding accident.

Stunned silence and tears filled the room, as Nick Viall, Josh Murray, Chris Soules and Marcus Grodd reacted stoically and Andi soon breaking down.

“You all know, Eric Hill," Chris Harrison began, struggling himself. "He, a couple of days ago, was in Utah paragliding and was in a serious accident."

"We knew he was hurt bad, we just didn’t know how bad. We learned this morning that he passed away,” he said, to the astonishment of his co-stars.

The Bachelorette returns tonight following a week hiatus, and with the loss of Eric Hill still fresh in the minds of viewers following his exit on the June 3 episode.

As The Bachelorette spoilers predicted, Hill left the show before the rose ceremony. What we didn't expect, though, was the way in which he left.

After Hill accused the woman he was there to get to know of not revealing her true self, she said it was best if he left, then became awfully upset.

If you watch The Bachelorette online, you know Andi Dorfman mourned the loss of the contestant, who died just weeks after he left, on national TV.

It wasn’t just for show, and there were no hard feelings. Eric’s sister Karen Tracey reveals that Andi also sent her personal condolences to his family.

“Andi sent us a very thoughtful letter, all about her memories of Eric and their first date together,” Karen shares in the new issue of Life & Style.

Former Bachelorette star Emily Maynard is speaking out about current leading lady Andi Dorfman and how Eric Hill left the ABC show this week.

Because Hill died weeks after he departed, his somewhat contentious final exchange with Andi - while far from bitter - took on a heightened meaning.

The Bachelorette spoilers prepared us for his departure, and we knew of his tragic death, but we weren't expecting the way he exited the show.

Saying he believed Andi wasn't being fully open with him and accusing her of wearing a poker face, she suggested he leave and Eric Hill obliged.

Andi then told the rest of the guys that they can follow him out the door right now if they think the same, insisting she was being nothing but real.

Host Chris Harrison defended them, saying that Eric was just being honest, and on a different day, a less exhausted Andi might not have been as upset.

Emily Maynard tells Parade that she feels similarly about the situation:

Producers of The Bachelorette faced with a unique problem with the death of Eric Hill, who passed away in a paragliding accident after leaving the show.

Not only that, the manner in which he left - following an argument with Andi Dorfman over whether she was being truly open - made it even harder.

The Bachelorette ultimately decided to air Hill's scenes as evidence of his "passion" and "courageous spirit," and his sister, for one, is happy they did.

Eric Hill, Sister

Karen Tracy tells TODAY that The Bachelorette is a "unique opportunity to watch him live on, and watch the world get to know him" every week.

"In some ways, it's only fitting that he is defying death in this way. My brother always thought bigger and dreamed bigger than anyone I have ever known."

Indeed, at the time of his death at age 31, Hill was working on a quest to visit every U.N.-recognized country in the world - his own Global Odyssey.

"People ask if it's difficult to watch him on the show, and I do get a little nervous until I see the handsome brother that I know and love," she said.

Did The Bachelorette get too real on Monday night? Not real enough? Or did the reality show's handling of Eric Hill's death strike just the right note?

Eric Hill on The Bachelorette Pic

Clearly it was a tough spot for ABC, which risked trivializing Hill's legacy by including too much of him on a show with kind of a ridiculous premise.

On the flip side, editing him out would not do justice to the standup guy he revealed himself to be, even if it didn't work out with Andi Dorfman.

What happened last night tried to strike a delicate balance, showing how Eric Hill left the show before he died in a paragliding accident in April.

Producers chose to show the argument between Eric and Andi, who he accused of not being sincere, which led to him leaving prior to the rose ceremony.

At the end of the episode, rather than show the rose ceremony (where Tasos Hernandez was eliminated), Chris Harrison sat down with Dorfman.

On part two of ABC's two-night Bachelorette EVENT, Andi Dorfman and her remaining men traveled across the country to the great state of Connecticut.

The drama did not stay behind in California.

In addition to some emotionally (and athletically) charged dates, we saw the late Eric Hill leave the series on a somber and surprising note.

What did he say to Andi before departing?

As always, you can follow the link for The Bachelorette spoilers to find out all the future episode results. Then read THG's Episode 4 rundown:

The first one-on-one date of the night went to Dylan, a shy accountant who revealed that he recently lost both his sister and his brother. Andi cried a lot.

Despite this date being so unfun, she gave him a rose, promising that it was not a "pity rose," and more about the fact that he opened up like that.

For her one-on-one date with Marcus, Andi decided to do the obligatory Bachelorette adventure date of rappeling down the side of the hotel.

Marcus, determined to be "the man in the relationship," put aside his own fears of heights and helped her off the ledge, which she found so romantic.

Eric Hill tragically passed away following a fatal paragliding accident, but he remains on The Bachelorette, with the 10th season dedicated to him.

With good reason. The May 26 episode featured him taking Andi Dorfman on her first one-on-one date of the season, and charming her all the way.

This wasn't your typical date filled with sightseeing and small talk, either. His passion and character shone brightly as he recounted his global travels.

Hearing about Eric Hill's near-death experience in Syria, knowing his actual death would come just weeks later, was no doubt jarring for viewers.

Just the same, the producers left the footage in unedited as it shows how special he was. In truth, he seems like one of the show's best contestants ever.

By this point, you don't need The Bachelorette spoilers to tell you he does not win the show, but it was clear that Andi was mesmerized by Eric.

She took to the Internet Monday night to let her followers know.

Jason Biggs, apparently a fan of The Bachelorette, or at least making tasteless jokes about The Bachelorette, may have crossed the line with this one.

Last night, he mocked The Bachelorette contestant Eric Hill, who tragically died in a paragliding accident after his elimination, but prior to the premiere.

The American Pie actor first wrote, “Crazy rule change: instead of voting off the contestants, this season #TheBachelorette gets to kill them off.”

Biggs followed that up with, “And 19 of them are still alive. #TooSoon.”

While he's clearly just trying to be funny, it's unclear why he would choose that subject to mock, given all the material The Bachelorette offers us each year.

It's also not the first time Biggs has gone down this strange road.

When The Bachelorette contestant Eric Hill died in a tragic paragliding accident last month, the big question became how the show would handle the tragedy.

We can say without giving away any of The Bachelorette spoilers this season that Hill didn't win the show, though he did appear in several episodes.

His death after courting Andi Dorfman on the ABC reality series left host Chris Harrison and company with so many questions, and no good answers.

Eric Hill and Andi Dorfman

Leaving in his scenes on the show, which can be ridiculous at times, might strike some as insensitive if he's, say, wooing Andi in the hot tub shirtless.

But editing him out would alter what really happened and might also seem insensitive to Eric Hill. How would his family feel about either option?

What resulted was the show making a decent effort to handle the matter in a tasteful way, even dedicating the 10th season to the memory of Hill.
