Samsung spent an estimated $20 million on TV ads to run during the 2014 Academy Awards, but Ellen DeGeneres gave them the best product placement ever.

That's right, Ellen DeGeneres' Oscar selfie was not spontaneous.

Best Selfie Ever

Viewers may have noticed Ellen toying with a white Samsung phone during the broadcast, even before she handed a Galaxy Note 3 to Bradley Cooper.

The actor famously took a "selfie" photo of himself and other stars including Brad Pitt, Meryl Streep, Kevin Spacey and Jennifer Lawrence with the host.

While the stunt felt spontaneous, and became the most re-Tweeted photo of all time by a huge margin, it wasn't entirely unplanned on Ellen's part.

Samsung and media buying firm Starcom MediaVest negotiated to have its Galaxy smartphone integrated into the telecast, according to insiders.

The morning after she posted an Oscars selfie that set a Twitter record, Ellen DeGeneres took to that social media network again and made it very clear:

Hosting the Academy Awards is tiring!

"Gopd mrorining! It'sd time to do a live OSxar show," the comedian joked today. "Didn't get much slep but whoneds it?"

Ellen DeGeneres was back as host of the 2014 Academy Awards, seven years after she first did the honors, and left many viewers hoping for a 2015 encore.

DeGeneres didn't appear in any sort of pre-produced skit to kick off her monologue. Instead, simply just brought the funny, starting with her very first line.

"For those of you watching around the world, it has been a tough couple of days for us here. It has been raining. We're fine. Thank you for your prayers."

DeGeneres couldn't resist some quality digs at Hollywood, calling out Liza Minelli, telling the legendary performer that she made for a convincing drag queen.

"Good job, sir," the host quipped.

Ellen gave a shout-out to Jennifer Lawrence falling, telling the Best Supporting Actress nominee, "If you win tonight, I think we should bring you the Oscar.

Ellen DeGeneres made history last night at the Oscars ... with this selfie, which was retweeted more than any other photo in the history of Twitter, BY FAR.

Taking a look at it below, you can sort of see why:

Ellen DeGeneres Oscar Selfie

Ellen's Oscar selfie quickly eclipsed Barack Obama’s historic "four more years" re-election tweet en route to nearly three times as many retweets (2,089,000).

The President's photo of himself embracing wife Michelle garnered just 780,000 after the 2012 presidential election results were made official. So weak.

Of course, Twitter use has been growing since then; the network is 30 percent bigger than during Obama’s epic hug. Also, he only won 51 percent of the vote!

Celebrity love-fests, on the flip side, appeal to Republicans and Democrats alike. Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Kevin Spacey and Bradley Cooper are in the pic!

There's also America's Sweetheart. If Jennifer Lawrence falling at the Oscars goes viral, so will Jennifer Lawrence looking adorable next to a beaming Ellen.

She deserves a special place among the 2014 Academy Award winners, for sure. Speaking of which ... the GIFs below could probably get 1 million too ...

On the same day new talk show rival Seth Meyers debuted as host of Late Night, Jimmy Kimmel made some headlines of his own.

He announced on Ellen yesterday that he and wife Molly McNearney are expecting!

The father of two young adults from a previous relationship, Kimmel said "I decided to have the first one with my wife. We got married in July and, you know, it's interesting. It's disgusting the way babies are made."

Meaning what, exactly?

Someday, the following list will not be necessary.

Someday, celebrities will not need to make any sort of official announcement regarding their sexuality because, quite simply, no one will care and society will be fully accepting of all orientations.

But that day hasn't arrived yet, for reasons explained so eloquently by Ellen Page when she came out as a lesbian on Friday:

Perhaps these stars can make a difference. Maybe they can positively influence others struggling with their sexual identity, using their public platform to push for tolerance.

So, with all that in mind, we join many in Hollywood in saluting Page and other famous folks who are very out and awfully proud:

Someone is finally on the side of Justin Bieber.

With Sharon Osbourne coming out this week and saying Bieber needs a kick in the ass, Kevin Hart appeared on Ellen today and said he remains good friends with the young singer.

“The media has a way of pouring things on people,” said the man behind some very funny Ride Along quotes, adding that Bieber is just a "kid" and: "The job is to learn from the stupid mistakes that you make."

Hart does acknowledge, however, that Justin continues to put himself in situations that make it easy for people to criticize him.

Sorry... were we referring to the artist as Justin Bieber?

We meant to say Bizzle. Kevin Hart is on the side of Bizzle.

Ellen DeGeneres Quotes

I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.

You showed us something in that film that I have not seen for a very, very long time.
