Recalling the night Whitney Houston died in her hotel room, Bobby Brown tells Ellen DeGeneres that he performed because she would've wanted him to.

Despite many critics feeling it was poor taste for her ex-husband to perform at his scheduled show February 11, Brown has zero regrets ... big surprise.

"I was in Mississippi performing and I got the call. Of course, I tried to get a flight. Tried to rent a jet. Whatever I had to do," he told Ellen Wednesday.

"But it was impossible. So I knew the best thing that she would've wanted me to do was perform. You know, we are performers. That's what we did."

"That's what we do and she would want the best for me."

In retrospect, she might have wanted several other things from Brown that we don't even need to get into here. Nevertheless, Bobby is guilt free.

Which isn't to say he wasn't saddened. Brown broke down backstage pre-show and declined to join his New Edition bandmates for the opening song.

Once he took the stage, he shouted, "I love you, Whitney!" and blew a kiss to the sky, looking visibly teary at the tragic news he'd learned hours ago.

One week later, Brown peaced out of her funeral early with his family in tow, then showed up to perform that night at Foxwoods in Connecticut.

Somehow, Alicia Etheridge plans to marry this guy.

John Mayer has been out of commission lately. Not that we're complaining.

Turns out neither is he. In his first interview in over a year, the singer-songwriter told Ellen DeGeneres yesterday that his infamous Playboy and Rolling Stone interviews in 2010 made him reflect on his life and become an adult.

"I did a couple of really dumb interviews and it woke me up," he said. "I lost my head for a little while. I lost touch and I didn’t want to ask for directions."

John said he needed to act 34 "instead of 28 for the fifth year" and escape to small-town Montana where he recorded his new album, Born and Raised.

The experience of living and recording out there "rocketed" him into adulthood, with Mayer saying he needed "a few years just to figure it out."

As for Born and Raised, out next week, it's his "honest and cohesive" album yet, with John saying that leaving the spotlight after relationships with "sexual napalm" herself Jessica Simpson and Jennifer Aniston was the best thing he ever did.

"I live in Montana, in the middle of nowhere," he said.

"It's really excellent... you get to a certain age where you prepare for happiness, but you sometimes don't remember to get happy. I remembered how to get happy."

Sounds remarkably un-douchebag-like, doesn't it? Who is this Dances With Wolves-like man and what has he done with John Mayer?

The erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey is creating major buzz lately after the movie rights were optioned, sparking speculation over who will play its sexy leads.

Its content is so racy - often described as "mommy porn" - that it's hard to imagine Fifty Shades on film ... or even as an audiobook. Especially after this.

If you've read it, you know how awkward it would be to read some of the salacious scenes aloud. Which is why Ellen DeGeneres decided to demonstrate this.

The premise of this hilarious skit is that Ellen was asked to record the audiobook version of EL James' work. It starts out in familiar territory, but after that ...

Several big names, including Ian Somerhalder, have been rumored for the film, which has not yet cast leads for what will undoubtedly be highly sought-after roles.

Adam Levine appeared on Ellen yesterday and the host wasted little time getting to the important issues with The Voice judge.

"Let's talk about the women that love you," DeGeneres said to cheers from the audience, specifically referring to Jennifer Love Hewitt's recent appearance on the show when she made it clear she'd be open to dating/doing Levine.

Is the artist, who recently split from Anne Vyalitsyna, interested?

"That was aggressive," Levine said, politely declining.  "It was really sweet and flattering. Beautiful life, you know, when a beautiful woman says nice things about you."

Note to Adam: Have you seen Jennifer Love Hewitt's breasts? You might want to reconsider.

During a speaking engagement to mark the one-year anniversary of her Joining Forces initiative, which helps honor and support America's military families, Michelle Obama brought in a special guest live via satellite:

Ellen DeGeneres!

In addition to discussing this very worthy cause Monday, the First Lady and Ellen rehashed their push-up contest from earlier this year. Take a look:

In the second half of their talk, Ellen spoke with military families, and then delighted the audience by unveiling a photo of Michelle's senior prom dress ...

"That split was a little high," Obama said, laughing. "I don't know if I'd let my kids go out with a split that high, so let's not show this to Malia and Sasha."

It's not what you think of when you think of Michelle Obama photos nowadays, no. Ellen showed off her amazing prom pic too. Check it out below:

Ah, to be Emma Stone.

The 23-year old actress is in the middle of a run of hits; may be the most beloved young actress in Hollywood; and, oh, has made out with both Ryan Gosling (in Crazy, Stupid Love) and Andrew Garfield (in The Amazing Spider-Man) on the big screen.

So, Stone was asked by The Ellen DeGeneres in a taped interview that airs today: Which experience was more enjoyable?

Comparing the studs is like comparing "apples and oranges," she said, hesitating a bit before finally answering: "I love all fruit!"

And this is why we love Emma Stone...

On an episode of Ellen that will air today, Brad Pitt takes New Orleans native Ellen DeGeneres on a tour of her hometown, specifically the Hurricane Katrina-ravaged section of the 9th Ward.

The stars talk about Pitt's Make It Right organization during the visit, which is dedicated to building sustainable, affordable homes for citizens in the area.

“I’m getting far too much credit for this," Pitt says modestly of the project, which has constructed 75 houses so far. "This took a lot of very smart people coming in and attacking the situation. It took the families determined to come back [after Hurricane Katrina] and their resilience and they’re defining what this thing was going to be. I get far too much credit for bringing some really smart people together."

Watch the emotional video now and try not to hate both Pitt and George Clooney for being so attractive and so kind-hearted:

Ellen DeGeneres has - to quote Chris Treager from Parks & Recreation - quite litch-rally inserted herself into the ongoing reality TV cat-fight that is The Bachelor.

In a funny new video, the talk show host splices actual footage from the Monday's confrontational Women Tell All special and puts herself in the hot seat.

Much like the controversial Courtney Robertson was in real life, Ellen finds herself on the defensive amid a barrage of allegations, name-calling and worse.

Costumed like a stereotypical Bachelor girl, sporting sparkling earrings and an equally glittering jacket, she admits she was there for the wrong reasons.

"I really did come here to make friends," Ellen says. "I was not here for Ben. I mean, let's face it, I was here for the girls." Watch the hilariousness below:

Justin Theroux knows how to get DOWN!

Stopping by the Ellen DeGeneres show to promote Wanderlust, in which he co-stars with girlfriend Jennifer Aniston (they met on set) and Paul Rudd, Justin showed off some sick break dance moves. Turns out we can thank Jen for this, too.

Watch him let loose to Rob Base DJ E Z Rock's "It Takes Two":

"My girlfriend, I don’t know if any of you guys know her, ever since she saw Zoolander she’s been obsessed with making me break dance," Justin told Ellen.

While she tried to get him to bust a move at her birthday party, Theroux says he got out of it by telling her he couldn't do it without his "breaking shoes."

He continues, "So we got home that night. It was late and she literally came out with a pair of shoes. My actual 'breaking shoes.'" The best part of it?

Jennifer Aniston was nice enough to send the shoes to Ellen too, and after a moment of resignation, he was not shy about showing off his moves. Respect!

Ellen DeGeneres Quotes

I’m thrilled that the California supreme court overturned the ban on gay marriage. I can’t wait to get married. We all deserve the same rights, and I believe that someday we’ll look back on this and not allowing gays to marry will seem as absurd as not allowing women to vote.

Ellen DeGeneres

You showed us something in that film that I have not seen for a very, very long time.
