Elizabeth Hurley is determined to put on a happy face amid the drama surrounding her wedding in India to businessman Arun Nayar.

The British actress-model and Arun Nayar, 42, were married several times last month, once in a lavish and traditional Hindu ceremony in Jodhpur.

The event drew the ire of a Hindu religious activist, who filed a complaint saying it had mocked Hindu customs. Regardless, these two get married more than Anna Nicole Smith. That's all we know.

Meanwhile, tabloids in England and India have carried reports that Nayar's father, Vinod Nayar, severed all ties with his son after he was thrown out of the wedding - at the urging of Elizabeth Hurley.

When asked how this has affected the couple, the ex of Hugh Grant told AP Television News that it has made her "incredibly grateful for the nice people" in her life.

"We're so lucky for the good things that we kind of turn a blind eye to the bad things," said Hurley, who called her family "fantastic."

The 41-year-old Mrs. Arun Nayar attended an event for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation in New York on Tuesday night, and said she hasn't "settled down into real life yet."

"The whole wedding took forever. The wedding itself took eight days; planning it took considerably longer; recovering from it; I'm still not sure I have," she said.

Hurley and Nayar first wed in a private civil ceremony in a castle outside London. The complaint about their Hindu wedding says Hurley wore revealing clothes and didn't remove her footwear while walking around the sacred fire at the ceremony.

The petition was filed under a section of the Indian Penal Code that makes it an offense to upset any religious feelings with "deliberate and malicious intention."

India's legal system is notoriously slow, and it could take months and even years before complaints come up for hearing.

Regardless, Elizabeth Hurley can take solace in the fact that she still has the best body in Britain, and Arun Nayar can find comfort in the fact that he hits that.

Evidently, the good people at New Woman magazine have never heard of Keeley Hazell.

After all, the editors behind that magazine have voted that Elizabeth Hurley has the best body in Britain.

"She is pencil-slim but still curvy, the ideal most women desperately want. For most of us, a body like Elizabeth Hurley's would require a lifetime of sacrifice," said New Woman editor Helen Johnston.

We're sure Arun Nayar is proud of his new wife, but we're not sure if the ex of Hugh Grant deserves such an honor.

Then again, she's definitely high above the woman that took second place in the publication's poll: breasty Victoria Beckham. The third spot went to Myleene Klass and the fourth belongs to Kelly Brook.

Rounding out the top five is Kate Moss. Her boyfriend and possible fiance, Pete Doherty, is probably proud of his mate, as well. But he has no idea where he is right now.

Anyway. While their honeymoon destination remains a mystery, one thing's for sure: Hurley and Arun Nayar are going to need it after a marathon run of weddings over the past week!

Friday marked the culmination of a week of celebration when the couple - who first married last week in England - participated in an exchange of garlands and Hindu ceremony to finalize the marriage in Nayar's native India.

After the ceremony in the city of Jodhpur, the couple were carried in an antique palanquin by bearers in traditional costume to diner on the ramparts of the Mehrangarh Fort.

According to wedding guest Alex Ionesco:

"It's been a long wedding [but] I'm right here to the end. It's been magical."

Last week, Elizabeth Hurley and new husband held civil and religious ceremonies in the English countryside, where the bride was given away by Elton John.

No, Hugh Grant was not there.

On Monday, the newlyweds - with the wedding party in tow - arrived in India for five further days of ceremony and celebration.

During the first segment of the India celebrations, the couple, who announced their engagement late last year, spent time in Mumbai, where they stayed at the luxurious Taj Hotel and attended bashes in their honor on Monday and Tuesday.

On Wednesday, they decamped to the city of Jodhpur in Rajasthan to continue the events. A game of cricket - Bride's vs. the Groom's teams -provided some casual fun before a grand party at the city's Umaid Bhawan Palace that evening where the guests included Elton John's partner David Furnish and the designer Tom Ford.

Sounds way more fun and less insane than the stupid TomKat wedding.

"It's the most beautiful wedding I've ever attended," Arti Surendranath, a film producer friend of Arun Nayar told People this week.

"Liz and Arun have really enjoyed themselves. They've been very relaxed because it's all gone so smoothly."

Actress Elizabeth Hurley and Indian businessman Arun Nayar wed twice over the weekend. The newlyweds had a private civil ceremony on Friday, then a religious service the next day, both at Sudeley Castle in England.

"Yes, a civil ceremony did take place," a spokesperson for Gloucestershire County Council confirms.

A source at the Council also dished that Hurley has taken the groom's surname and will now be known as Mrs. Nayar, on paper at least.

It's too bad that Britney Spears never went as Britney Federline - though there are some names you just don't want to take on, marriage or not.

Guests included Donatella Versace (who designed Hurley's dress), Jimmy Choo president Tamara Mellon, models Elle Macpherson, Eva Herzigova, and Yasmin Le Bon, as well as Valentino, Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine of the BBC television series What Not To Wear.

As for Hurley's former boyfriend, actor Hugh Grant? That guy was a no show.

"Liz called him the day before begging him to come, but he insisted it would not feel right," a source tells Us Weekly. "He didn't want to detract any attention from her big day."

Among the moments Grant missed was Hurley's 4-year-old son Damien, whose father is producer Steve Bing, carrying the rings on a small cushion.

Singer Elton John performed at the ceremony after arriving by helicopter just 45 minutes before it began. John, who has been a father figure to Hurley since her dad passed away in 1996, gave the bride away.

"He looked like a proud father when he was walking her down the aisle… They had linked arms tightly and looked really happy to be sharing that moment together," a guest said.

Hurley got tears in her eyes as Nayer repeated his vows.

"She looked like she was starting to well up but, like most brides, I think she kept it together in fear of ruining her makeup," says a guest.

According to a friend, the former model was on a pre-wedding diet for a month to make sure she looked her best on the big day. And no, it wasn't the Sienna Miller diet.

"She was eating one solid meal a day and the rest of the time snacking on raw veggies or vegetable shakes," the source said. "She drank lots of water and didn't eat any food after 4 pm. It was strict, but the results have been worth it. She looks fabulous!"

Next up on the wedding express? The happy couple flew to Mumbai, India on Monday with 24 other guests for their traditional Indian wedding and a week-long celebration with Arun Nayar's family and friends.

This is looking a lot like the Pamela Anderson-Kid Rock wedding bonanza last summer. Except for the white trash, giant fake boobs and imminent divorce.

We may have spoken too soon about America Ferrera. Reports now state that the Ugly Betty star is NOT engaged.

But we can conform the following engagement news: Elizabeth Hurley has named the date for her wedding to Arun Nayar.

The actress with the giant boobs and the swimwear company boss will marry the Indian businessman in the English countryside on March 3, according to a banns â€" a public announcement of marriage â€" posted at the local register's officer in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire.

According to reports in the British press, the ceremony will be held at the country home of one of Hurley's friends and will be followed by a party in India. It will be an international event - but one that falls far short of the standards set by TomKat.

Hurley and Nayar, a textile heir and computer-company owner, have dated since 2003.

Nayar was previously married to Italian model Valentina Pedroni; Hurley, who dated Hugh Grant for 10 years, has a 4-year-old son, Damian, from a relationship with film producer Stephen Bing.

Ever since Hugh Grant cheated on her with a hooker, people have been wondering if Elizabeth Hurley was okay. That's a difficult thing to recover from.
