Forget the mortgage crisis.

Who cares about rising gas prices?

Drill for oil, don't drill for oil. Whatever.

The true indicator of which Presidential candidate is best suited for office in America today is how each of their wives behaves in the dressing room of The View.

To present that insight, take it away Elisabeth Hasselbeck...

Rosie O'Donnell may be off The View. But she didn't take all the show's controversy with it.

On this morning's episode, Elizabeth Hasselbeck broke down in tears during a discussion about under what circumstances the "N" word can be used appropriately. Take a look at the heated debate now

Whoopi Goldberg, an African-American, said: "We use it the [word the way] we want to use it," but Hasselbeck was soon brought to tears, asking:

"How are we supposed to move forward if we keep using words that bring back that pain?"

It's a sensitive topic. React to the video and to the issue now.

In at least one way, Rosie O'Donnell misses the view.

We don't mean the ABC talk show on which she was a panel member; we mean the literal view on that series, the one that enabled the controversial star to ogle on-air rival Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

O'Donnell appeared on the Howard Stern Sirius Satellite radio program Monday and was asked by the host: "When you look at [Hasselbeck] physically, you don't want her?"

Replied Rosie: "See, the want is the big thing. I find her very attractive. She's very attractive, I think."

Rosie O'Donnell disagree with the political views of Elisabeth Hasselbeck. But she loves her former co-host's biceps.

However, O'Donnell's true fantasy woman is pregnant Angelina Jolie:

"She's got a little darkness - a little kind of weird sexuality going on."

For Rosie's sake, in that case, here's a photo of Angelina Jolie naked. Enjoy, crazy one!

He's definitely Salma Hayek's baby daddy and has more money than God, and may or may not have fathered an illegitimate child with Linda Evangelista at some point.

But that's a separate discussion for another time.

Mr. Salma Hayek

Today, we're here to celebrate the birthday of Francois-Henri Pinault. The French billionaire business big shot is 46 today! Yee-ha!

Also celebrating a birthday today? Perpetually pregnant and beautiful conservative talk show host Elisabeth Hasselbeck! Give it up for 31-year-old Liz!

Here are some pics of the birthday boy (and girl) to commemorate May 28:

When does your favorite star celebrate the date of his or her birth? Which celebs are coming up next? Confer with our celebrity birthday calendar and see!

Let's at least give Elisabeth Hasselbeck some credit: unlike former coworker, Rosie O'Donnell, this host of The View didn't refer to 9/11 as a conspiracy.

But the conservative blonde is singing a conspiratorial tuner over David Hernandez being voted off American Idol last night.

"My mind went, 'You know what? This is a conspiracy," said Hasselbeck during this morning's show.

"American Idol maybe didn't want to deal with the fact that he had this shady - so-called - past and they blocked all of his phone calls of people voting for him.'"

Whoopi Goldberg was taken aback at this accusation, reiterating Hasselbeck's stance in amazement: "They blocked his phone calls?!?"

Sounds like a controversial, attention-getting viewpoint to me, Elisabeth basically responded. We wonder if she also thinks Eliot Spitzer got a raw deal.

"I'm making up my own conspiracy theory. This is my paranoia," she said.

"Because he's good - he is good - despite his... whatever he was doing on the side. But I think he actually deserved the spot to be there and I feel like maybe they were just trying to get him off the show."

What do you think? Did American Idol conspire to give David Hernandez the boot?

Elisabeth Hasselbeck hates abortions. And big government. And poor people.

But the conservative co-host of The View has love for at least one thing: boy band New Kids on the Block.

Congratulations to Elisabeth Hasselbeck!

The co-host of The View gave birth to a son named Taylor Thomas on Friday morning. She called in to the show earlier today and told colleagues that big sister Grace "loves him. She has him on her lap this morning."

In a statement, mediocre NFL quarterback Tim Hasselbeck said: "Elisabeth and I are happy to announce the arrival of our son and we're thrilled he arrived safely. Both mom and son are happy and healthy."

Known for her conservative views, Hasselbeck has probably already bought her son his first hand gun and Support the Troops bumper sticker.

Now she'll have more time to hang out with Rosie O'Donnell.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck plans to go on maternity leave next month, a spokesman for The View announced.

The conservative blonde announced her pregnancy in April and intends to work right up to her due date. This is one dedicated mother, something many critics don't say about Asia Nitollano.

Hasselbeck plans to leave on November 8 or 9, ABC spokesman Karl Nilsson confirmed. Celebrity guest hosts will fill in for her.

"I figured that we're going to be lonely without [former co-host Rosie O'Donnell]," Hasselbeck joked at the time of the announcement, People magazine reported. "So, (husband) Tim and I thought we should get busy and maybe make a little co-host."

The couple also have a 2-year-old daughter, Grace.

Forget Kim Kardashian in Playboy.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck is on the cover of next month's Pregnancy Magazine!

Okay, maybe that's not quite as exciting. But the co-host of The View is typically good for a few controversial quotes. Let's see what she has to say in the publication's interview:

On being a conservative mother in 2007: "Being a conservative mother isn't the challenge. Being a conservative in New York City on television is the challenge. Once I had [first daughter] Grace, I had more reassurance and affirmation as to why I have felt the things that I've felt for a long time.

I want to make sure that the decisions I'm making and the votes that I'm casting are going to create long-term benefits for Grace and my next child and hopefully more to come after that."

About being pregnant and arguing with Rosie O'Donnell: "When a woman cries, it's never seen as a sign of strength and never seen in a positive light. A man cries and he's sensitive [or insane and worthy of his own TV show, such as Chris Crocker], and a woman cries and she's weak. So even when you're debating another woman, the first person to cry pretty much loses."

Hasselbeck is due with her second child on November 11.

While some things remain the same - i.e. Britney Spears mistreating little Sean Preston and Jayden James - others are undergoing significant changes.

Take the cast of The View.

Tim Hasselbeck, Elisabeth Hasselbeck

By now, of course, all celebrity gossip followers know the story: Star Jones was kicked to the self-serving curb; Rosie O'Donnell alienated some viewers, attracted others and then left in a huff. Perez Hilton somehow guest hosted a show.

On September 4, however, a new era begins. This promotional photo says as much:

The new View: A pregnant Elisabeth Hasselbeck is joined by new co-host Whoopi Goldberg. Barbara Walters and Joy Behar also return.
