Miley Cyrus likely went too far at the MTV Video Music Awards, desperately trying to prove herself as edgy and mature.

Was her routine racist? We'll leave that for critics to debate.

Was it worthy of the torrential criticism rained down upon her by Dr. Laura Schlessinger? Probably not.

Miley Cyrus, Mid-Twerk

The Sirius radio host - who was fired in 2010 for dropping the N word - ripped Miley’s provocative performance yesterday, saying on air:

“There is a place for the Miley Cyrus’ of this world… and it’s in whorehouses and bars! And if you are a parent who takes your kids to see her, you are a moron and you should lose your parental rights!”

"I handed the reins to another, much like Dr. Laura is doing, so these obstructionists who hated a Commonsense Conservative agenda wouldn’t win. I didn’t retreat; I reloaded in order to fight for what is right on a fairer battlefield." - Sarah Palin

LOLOLOLOL Sarah. We're curious if you really believe that, or if your PR intern is just working OT. Either way, that's a 9.5 on the unintentional comedy meter.

Reloaded to fight for what's right? You mean fat paychecks and defending Dr. Laura on social networking sites? Even Schlessinger herself must be like: Handing over my reins? Obstructionists? What the heck are you smoking?

If you missed it, Dr. Laura said the n-word on her radio show recently, then amidst the ensuing controversy, announced she will soon retire from the radio.

Sarah Palin defended her on Twitter, dubiously standing up for the embattled host's First Amendment rights and showing a startlingly dim-witted grasp of the U.S. Constitution for a person who was once governor of a U.S. State.

Now, she has posted an even lengthier defense of Dr. Laura on Facebook. Thank goodness she's elaborating! We've pasted it below for your analysis.

But seriously ... does this woman own stock in Dr. Laura? Or the word shackles?

Does anyone seriously believe that Dr. Laura Schlessinger is a racist? Anyone, I mean, who isn’t already accusing all conservatives, Republicans, Tea Party Americans, etc., etc., etc. of being racists?

Sarah Palin is really unintelligent for a major political figure.

We're not saying that because she's female, conservative, outspoken, etc. It's just true, as her grasp of the U.S. Constitution, or lack thereof, proves in spades.

The former Alaska Governor and current professional celebrity went on Twitter yesterday to give embattled radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger some support.

Palin's first Tweet: "Dr.Laura:don't retreat...reload! (Steps aside bc her 1st Amend.rights ceased 2exist thx 2activists trying 2silence"isn't American,not fair")"

Her second: "Dr.Laura=even more powerful & effective w/out the shackles, so watch out Constitutional obstructionists. And b thankful 4 her voice,America!"

Putting aside the fact that a person who wrote "2silence"isn't American, not fair" was nominated for Vice President of the United States, this is still nonsense.

To recap, Schlessinger repeatedly used the n-word in speaking with a caller that asked for advice on her marriage. This woman then complained about the epithet.

Dr. Laura naturally replied, on air, that "If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race." Crickets.

Her contract is set to expire at the end of this year, and with the backdrop of this controversy, Schlessinger decided not to continue her show when it does.

She wasn't actually fired, though it would have been justified.

You see, Schlessinger's First Amendment rights did not "cease 2exist" because she was criticized for berating an African-American or using the n-word 11 times.

The First Amendment, Sarah Palin, protects people from government infringing on our speech rights; it doesn't take away other Americans' right to criticize.

Nor does it stop a private business from terminating an employee or pulling ads as it so chooses. That's capitalism and freedom at work, baby! U-S-A! U-S-A!

That Homer, Alaska resident said it best: Worst. Governor. Ever.

Dr. Laura Schlessinger will soon be off the airwaves.

The host announced on Larry King Live last night that her contract runs out at the end of this year and "I've made the decision not to do radio anymore."

Of course, such a decision wasn't made purely out of her own volition. Schlessinger was at the center of a controversy last week, following the repetitive use of the N word to a caller that asked for advice on her marriage.

After this woman complained about the epithet, the host replied, on air:: "If you're that hypersensitive about color and don't have a sense of humor, don't marry out of your race."

Schlessinger has since apologized, but isn't happy she was forced to do so.

"I want to regain my First Amendment rights," she told King about her decision to leave radio. "I want to be able to say what's on my mind and in my heart and what I think is helpful and useful without somebody getting angry, some special interest group deciding this is the time to silence a voice of dissent and attack affiliates, attack sponsors. I'm sort of done with that."

THG Note: Why do so few people understand the First Amendment?!? It states: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech..."

In other words: one cannot go to jail for simply speaking one's mind. That's all the First Amendment guarantees. It has nothing to do with a talk show host being criticized or punished for spewing offense language.

For a doctor, Laura Schlessinger, you sound like a moron.
