We adore Demi Lovato. That must be stated up front.

She's our readers' choice for Celebrity of 2011, after all, and we're thrilled she took home one of the biggest People's Choice Awards last night, Favorite Pop Artist.

But the young star's performance of "Give Your Heart a Break" simply wasn't her finest moment, from the wild hair extensions to the mullet-like dress to the notes that simply weren't carried very well. Hey, we all have off nights.

Demi Lovato pulled double duty for MTV last night.

The artist, who had one of the best years of any celebrity, according to THG readers, hosted that network's New Year's Eve celebration alongside Teen Wolf star Tyler Posey. She also performed her latest single, "Give Your Heart A Break," in front of a raucous crowd. Watch and listen below:

Lovato joined a slew of other singers across the country last night, all of whom helped ring in 2012 on stages situated in Hollywood, Las Vegas and New York City.

She's been making the media round - The Tonight Show, Good Morning America - and playing "Skyscraper" for millions of viewers, but Demi Lovato is already plotting her next radio release.

It will be a dance track titled "Who's That Boy," which features Dev and included the lyrics: "I've been staring at ya/ And I could do it all night/ You're looking like an angel/ With the kind of body that needs a spotlight."

Lovato released "Unbroken" on Tuesday and tells MTV of the album:

"I think it's grown-up, but it's not too grown-up. It's not tasteless. It's growing up with my fans. It's [like] I'm not a kid anymore, but I'm also not a full-grown woman either. So I'm in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I'm figuring it out, just like my fans are."

Demi is working on the music video for "Who's That Boy" as we type.
