A few days after going makeup-free and encouraging young woman to "be brave," Demi Lovato has released the official music video for "Heart Attack."

Donning an edgy look, Lovato sings in the single about putting her "defenses up" because she doesn't "wanna fall in love."

But girl be fronting... because she's really just a romantic deep down inside.

"I think for fans or friends or anybody who's afraid to fall in love, I'd rather live my life with my arms open than closed off the entire time," Lovato tells E! News.

Demi Lovato is once again using her own personal struggles to inspire other young women around the world.

The singer - who entered rehab in 2011 for an eating disorder and has been open since about self-esteem issues - Tweeted a photo yesterday of herself without any makeup and added as a caption:

“Ladies, be brave today.. take off your make-up and stop using those filters!! WE are beautiful!!!”

Lovato is doing all she can to ensure no other teenagers end up in her previous state.

She went off on Disney a couple years ago for an anorexic joke and she continues to serve as a Hollywood role model. You tell 'em, Demi!

It was a bad night for one contestant Tuesday on the Dancing with the Stars results show.

But it was a great night for Demi Lovato, who took to the ABC stage and belted out a version of "Heart Attack."

Lovato is to dominate the music scene over the coming weeks. She unveiled her upcoming album cover a few days ago and will release the CD in May.

She'll then return to The X Factor in the fall for her second go-around as a reality competition judge. She's pretty much the only good thing about that Simon Cowell-produced show.

The professional future is looking rather bright for Demi Lovato.

Just days after the singer was confirmed as a judge on The X Factor Season 3, she has debuted her new album cover for the world to see.

Lovato has yet to announce the name of this CD, but it goes on sale on May.

The foregone conclusion is now an official reality: Demi Lovato will return as a judge on Season 3 of The X Factor.

Confirmed Fox and Simon Cowell today in a press release:

“I couldn’t be happier that Demi wants to come back this year. She’s a superstar in her own right and was a fantastic mentor last year. Even though she can be really, really annoying – I truly enjoyed working with her and so did the artists. I’m especially pleased she’s back, even during her world tour!”

The X Factor will look very different this fall, aside from Lovato and Cowell as panelists.

L.A. Reid is out. Britney Spears is out. Khloe Kardashian is a goner.

Demi Lovato may be returning to The X Factor for Season 3 later this year, but the 20-year-old is making some changes in her life. Namely to her hair.

Lovato debuted a new, short haircut in a tweet to fans on Tuesday night:

The singer did away with her long locks for a shoulder-grazing style complete with side-swept bangs, reminiscent of her Sonny with a Chance days.

It's not clear if she actually cut anything, of course. She could have just removed the extensions she had. Either way, it's a big change from the youngster.

Nothing is official yet, but Simon Cowell made it clear in an interview this week:

He'd love to have Demi Lovato back as an X Factor panelist.

“I liked having Demi on the show," producer Simon Cowell said Monday on Ryan Seacrest's radio show. "She’s fun to work with."

Of course, even if/when Lovato does return, L.A. Reid and Britney Spears have departed as panelists, while it's impossible to believe Khloe Kardashian will return as co-host.

Britney Spears is out, Demi Lovato hopes to be in - and the singer also has a strong idea of who she wants to join her at The X Factor judging table.

Lovato tells Extra that 2013 will be a busy year for her with music and touring, but if the show asked her to return for Season 3, "I'd say yes."

And with both Spears and L.A. Reid departing the struggling series, Demi also weighed in on her ideal panel mate:

"I would love to see Lady Gaga. I don't know if that is possible or not."

Gaga does have some free time on her hands at least, as the artist has been forced to cancel her tour due to hip surgery.
