At the official Christmas tree lighting yesterday at The Grove in Los Angeles, David Archuleta and Charice took to the stage and sent an important message to listeners:

On what he wants for Christmas: To be able to give back, that's where the most, the greatest, the best feelings are, even if it's just a visit to show you care about people. That's what the Christmas spirit is about: caring about other people.

David Archuleta fans should not even be reading this right now. They should have their eyes closed, taking in the songs on the singer's just-released album.

But you're forgiven if you've taken a break, especially if you're using it to read more about this young, adorable singer. He spoke to The Los Angeles Times this week on a number of topics and we've posted excerpts below...

On the inspiration behind the CD: I wanted people to get my perspective of this stage of my life. It’s about moving forward and keeping a positive attitude. I’ve gotten a lot better at expressing myself. Before if people asked me questions, I’d say, “um, I don’t know.” I didn’t know what to say. Music is an escape route for me that allowed me to say how I felt.

On October 5, David Archuleta will release "The Other Side of Down." What, exactly, does this album title mean?

"For me, it's about moving forward and making progress," says the former American Idol finalist. "I'm heading towards the other side of down, which is up.'"

Fans can look forward to a CD worth of hopeful, positive lyrics. That's just how Archie rolls, saying:

"Instead of acting like everything in life is so hard and confusing, look at it this way: the only way you can go from here is up. It's our decisions and how we handle things, even when they get rough. If we keep holding on, looking at things positively and working hard, we can improve our lives, help ourselves, and even help the greater good."

David Archuleta is coming out with a new album on October 5 and has released the art that will be included with "The Other Side of Down."

Who looked cuter at the Teen Choice Awards?

He might not be on the level of Eminem and Kanye West - both of whom released new videos this week, which you can view HERE and HERE - but David Archuleta possesses as loyal a fan base as any singer out there.

Those followers should be extra excited today, too, because the former American Idol runner-up has also come out with a video for his latest single.

It's titled "Something 'Bout Love" and will be included on Archie's new album, whose release date has been pushed back until October 5. Says David of the following video:

"[It's] about people who are feeling a little down and a little alone... and just feeling a little frustrated with love or their situation in life. Even though you might feel down with love, there's something about it you shouldn't give up on."
