Danny Gokey Bio
Danny Gokey moved on to Hollywood after his audition in Kansas City, Missouri. He was then approved for a spot in the show's semifinals and, eventually, the finals. He ended up being eliminated after making the final three of season eight.
The aspiring musician had a very sad story to tell: his wife, Sophia, passed away four weeks before the audition. Still, Danny wowed judges with his rendition of “I Heard It Through The Grapevine.” We wish him well.
Gokey's Hollywood audition always went very well. His first song of choice for it? "Kiss from a Rose," always a favorite. From there, he was chosen as one of 12 finalists on the eighth season. Congrats!
This 28-year old is a Church music teacher from Milwaukee. In addition to singing, Gokey plays the piano and enjoys salsa dancing. We've taken to calling his fan base "Gokeheads."
