Fifty Shades of Grey has now spanked its competition at the box office two weeks in a row, and with two more books' worth of sexy, sexy source material, a very lucrative trilogy is all but guaranteed. Or is it?

With author E.L. James demanding more control (cue whip sound effect) and director Sam Taylor-Johnson bowing out of the sequel, Fifty Shades of Darker may wind up being more different in tone (and taking much longer to produce) than the honchos at Universal would like.

E.L. James is into control. The characters in her hit novel Fifty Shades of Grey are into control.

Now that the movie is out, making money hand-over-fist, and infuriating critics, she wants to use that control for the sequel, Fifty Shades Darker.
