Frances Bean Cobain actually acknowledged Courtney Love this week.
On Christmas, Love reached out to Cobain, 20, with a cheery holiday message: "Merry Christmas Bean!! love you more than you could ever know. xmamma."
Later in the day, she replied, Tweeting "merry christmas kooksmcgee."
'Tis the season.
Courtney Love is being sued for a former assistant who alleges malice, evil motives and despicable conduct on behalf of the Hole singer. Anyone surprised?
Jessica Labrie was hired by Love in June 2010 as an administrative assistant / "forensic research aide" for $30 an hour. Not a bad gig if you can get it!
Well, unless your boss is Courtney Love, a bona fide nut job whose own daughter emancipated herself and who makes Horrible Bosses quotes look tame.
Long story short ... do not work for this chick, bad job market or not.
Among Labrie's allegations, per the legal complaint:
Labrie also states that, in addition to repeatedly asking for the money she was owed, she voiced concerns about the musician's unethical and illegal activity.
She is seeking damages for wrongful termination, failure to pay wages, negligent misrepresentation, breach of contract and infliction of emotional distress.

Courtney Love apparently realizes the error of her celebrity gossip-reading ways.
Who knows where she even heard the rumor, but Love angered her daughter by claiming that former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl hit on Frances Bean Cobain.
Dave and Frances denied this vehemently, and Love, Kurt Cobain's widow, says she regrets spreading the rumor. Courtney apologized, again on Twitter.
"Bean, sorry I believed the gossip," Love tweeted Saturday. "Mommy loves you."
Frances angrily answered her mom's accusations late last week saying:
"While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn. I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I am in a monogamous relationship and very happy."
Frances is engaged to Isaiah Silva, frontman of the band the Rambles.
Grohl also said the claims were "offensive and absolutely untrue."

Frances Bean Cobain has lashed out at her mother Courtney Love for claiming on Twitter than her late husband's bandmate Dave Grohl hit on her.
Love claimed Grohl "hit on" Frances and is "obsessed" with the teenage daughter of Kurt Cobain, and that "she was curious" about him as well.
Frances wasted no time in pointedly slamming the rumor and her mom.
"While I'm generally silent on the affairs of my biological mother, her recent tirade has taken a gross turn," says Frances. "I have never been approached by Dave Grohl in more than a platonic way. I'm in a monogamous relationship and very happy."
Frances adds: "Twitter should ban my mother."
Grohl, the Nirvana drummer turned Foo Fighters frontman, also ripped Love, who claimed he was "sexually obsessed" with Frances and/or Kurt.
"Unfortunately Courtney is on another hateful Twitter rant," Grohl, the married father of two daughters, says through his rep in response.
"These new accusations are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue."
For her part, Frances Bean Cobain, 19, is happy at least, getting engaged to Isaiah Silva, frontman of the rock band the Rambles, last fall.

Courtney Love fired off a Twitter missive in which she accuses former Nirvana member Dave Grohl of hitting on her daughter, Frances Bean Cobain.
Grohl angrily denied the allegation.
"Unfortunately Courtney is on another hateful Twitter rant," he said via his publicist. "These new accusations are upsetting, offensive and absolutely untrue."
What the Foo Fighters frontman is referring to is a series of tweets the 47-year-old Love, the late Kurt Cobain's widow, lobbed last night online.
SIDE NOTE: Hilariously, her allegations against @davegrohl actually went to a German IT student by that name ... it's not the rocker's account.
Anyway, Love Tweeted the following:
"I hear from frannies roommate that @davegrohl hit on frances, and that she was curious, I'm not mad at her, him I am about to shoot, dead."
Courtney admitted the whole thing may have been gossip she heard from a driver, but still laid into the musician because she totally believes it:

She believes that Kermit the Frog and his gang of Muppet friends absolutely "raped" the memory of her ex-husband Kurt Cobain by covering the Nirvana song "Smells Like Teen Spirit" in their 2011 movie ... without her permission.

Courtney says she has the power to approve or nix all use of Kurt's music for commercial purposes, and she never agreed to let the Muppets release the song.
Never mind that she sold half the rights to Kurt's music to a company called Primary Wave Music ... along with exclusive right to distribute Nirvana's catalog.
As far as "Smells Like Teen Spirit" goes, not only did Primary Wave green light The Muppets use, they got permission from the two surviving Nirvana members.
Courtney Love is described as mentally unstable in newly released deposition papers filed by her daughter Frances Bean Cobain, who sought a restraining order in 2009.
Frances Bean, now 19, says Love’s behavior even caused her pets' death.
Their cat kicked it after getting entangled in Love’s messy piles of "Etsy fabrics, boxes of paperwork, trash and other possessions,” according to the court papers, while the dog swallowed several of Love’s stash of prescription pills.
In order to ensure that no other pets fell victim to Love’s pill-popping habits, Cobain included her dog, Uncle Fester, on the restraining order which was granted.
Among those Love was ordered to avoid contact with include Cobain, Uncle Fester, Cobains’ grandmother and her aunt. The primary reason? Love's drug use.
“(She) has taken drugs for as long as I can remember,” Cobain said.
“She basically exists now on ... Xanax, Adderall, Sonata and Abilify, sugar and cigarettes. She rarely eats ... She often falls asleep in bed while smoking."
"I am constantly worried that she will start a fire (which she has done at least three times to date) that will threaten all of our lives.”
Lindsay Lohan is getting some terrific mentoring these days.
In a textbook case of the blind leading the blind, Courtney Love tells Details she is personally taking over as her sobriety coach, "because nobody else will."
We can sorta see that, and it takes one to know one, right? That's what the 47-year-old Hole singer and widow of Kurt Cobain says makes her a great fit.
With her help, Court says, Lindsay will be at the morgue, but only for community service!
Love says Lohan, 25, is "much further down the line than I was" in her issues, noting that she came of age before the intense scrutiny of celebrity gossip world.
She cites her own iconic husband's mishandling of fame as a reason for her downfall. "I was co-dependent, and decided to become a junkie with him,” she said.
Love, who says she’s been clean since 2005, also recalled an incident in which she tried to use her past behavior to show Lohan that drug use is life abuse.
"I went up to Lindsay's room and there was a show on called 101 Celebrity Oops and I am like every other one, you know - boobs out, legs everywhere, throwing $h!t at Madonna, you know, whatever," she recalled. "I'm like 'Lindsay, look! Drugs are bad!'"
Maybe this is going to work out great after all ...
