The first part of Christina Aguilera's plans to promote her new album (on sale today!) didn't exactly go as planned:

She's canceled her North American tour.

But that doesn't mean she won't have a chance to perform for fans at all, as evidenced by this morning's Today Show concert.

As part of the Toyota concert series, Xtina appeared at Rockefeller Center and sung “Fighter,” “Bionic,” “Not Myself Tonight” and “Beautiful." Watch her in action below, first in still images and then via video...

Christina Aguilera has spent a lot of time shooting down comparisons to Lady Gaga.

But perhaps this artist should have been promoting her summer tour instead.

Sources confirm that Aguilera's summer concerts in North America have been canceled, likely due to poor ticket sales, although the performer's reps are claiming otherwise (naturally). They say the tour has merely been "postponed" until 2011 because:

"The singer felt she needed more time to rehearse the show and with less than a month between the album release and tour date this wasn’t possible."

Hey to Fans

A true sign of whether Christina's comeback has already flopped will be when her album hits stores on June 8. If "Bionic" doesn't sell well, Aguilera may be forced to embrace her inner thespian.

She does make her feature film debut in November's Burlesque, after all.

Without a tour this summer, at least Christina can spent more time at home. Toddler son Max is a certified cutie.

In a pair of recent statements, Christina Aguilera let down two different groups of people:

  1. Those that clamor for a Christina/Laday Gaga feud.
  2. Those that wish to see Christina have sex with a woman.

First, Aguilera took to her official blog and, once and for all, shot down talk that she and Lady Gaga are remotely at odds. She wrote:

I have absolutely nothing against Lady Gaga or any other female artist in this business. I think she is great, and I appreciate any woman fearless enough to go against the norm. She has earned her success with hard work and a clear focus and I have nothing but respect for that. There is room for all of us on everyone’s iPods.

That's reasonable, mature... and boring.

From there, in a new feature in Out magazine (click on pics below), Christina was asked about hooking up with a female. She replied:

“I don’t think I could ever really be with a woman because... there’s a lot of estrogen and I’m a lot to deal with when it’s that time of the month, so I can’t imagine it times two.”

That's also reasonable, mature... and boring. We thought Xtina was edgy! But now she's refusing to go gay and coming to the aid of Haitian refugees. It's just so sad.

Is she copying Lady Gaga, or is it the other way around?

While fans and critics engage in this silly debate, Christina Aguilera is focusing on more important things:

The singer, and husband Jordan Bratman, visited two schools in Haiti last week, a country still ravaged by a recent earthquake. They met with children receiving food and aid there, as the singer is the World Food Program's new Ambassador Against Hunger.

Christina served meals of rice and beans to the children, discussed the food/supply response with officials and learned about the nation's ongoing recovery effort. She said:

"I was so moved by the devastation in Haiti but also by the spirit of its people. The children have such joy and are eager to learn despite the destruction around them. The children deserve a chance, and I want to make sure they get a chance."

In equally important Aguilera news: the artist is naked on the cover of GQ!

Christina Aguilera isn't just back on the music scene.

The singer, whose new album drops on June 8, is back to being her sexy, provocative self.

Her new music video is hot; her cover shot for GQ is naked... and the haters are coming out in full force.

As she struts her seductive, eccentric stuff again, critics are comparing Christina to the artist that, in some ways, has taken over her spot in the industry: Lady Gaga. What does Aguilera think of this comparison?

“I’m in it for the long haul, and a decade later in my career, I have nothing to prove," Christina says in the latest issue of Billboard. "To anyone who wants to be negative, it’s like, ‘I’m obviously relevant enough to you for you to care and to talk and to evoke negative feelings inside of you.’ At this point in my career, I’m over any and all weird comparisons or negativity.”

Also in the article, Christina says that making hit singles is not what inspires her:

“There was actually a song that the label really wanted me to record, and I just said ‘no,’ because it didn’t fit on the album – it wasn’t creatively inspiring to me... when it jeopardizes my integrity too much I can’t do it."

But when it comes to taking her clothes off, Xtina can get down with that! Thank goodness.

Various versions of GQ are doing their best to satisfy both genders this week.

First, we happily published photos of Robert Pattinson from South Africa's edition of this magazine.

Now, Germany's GQ has one-upped that R. Patt pictorial with three magical words: Christina Aguilera nude. The singer covers that publication (with a strategically-placed hand and thigh) in the buff...

Aguilera has catapulted herself back on to the musical scene. Following a couple years off, dedicating herself to motherhood, the singer has returned with a new single, a new album... and her old, sexy persona.

We speak for men around the world when we saw: welcome back, Xtina!

Having been away from the business for years, raising her son, Christina Aguilera came back in a major way last week.

She released the video for "Not Myself Tonight," which stirred up controversy over whether it was too sexy and provocative. In other words: it accomplished the exact goal Aguilera had in mind and put her right back on the musical map.

But another controversy has broken out about the single: is it a copycat? Critics allege that Christina has simply stolen her new style and edginess from Lady Gaga in a clear attempt to piggyback off that eccentric singer's success.

To that charge, one Christina fan in particular has a Clueless-like response: AS IF!

In the following video, an Aguilera supporter (with a lot of time on her hands) aims to prove that it's actually the other way around: Gaga has taken her cue from Xtina. Watch and decide for yourself:

Lady Gaga is likely too pissed at Fox to care much about this feud, but you can sound off below. Which artist is the most original?

Whose side are you on?

On June 8, Christina Aguilera will release her new album, "Bionic."

But the singer announced her return to the music business loudly, proudly and provocatively this week: she posted the video for "Not Myself Tonight" online.

In the video below, and in the still shot from it seen here, the singer embraces her inner dominatrix. She recently said: “I’m more confident and comfortable in my own skin. I think I’m even a more sexual Christina."

That's incredible news for warm-blooded males around the world, but it's stirring up some criticisms of Christina on the Web.

After all, she's a mother now. What will she tell her son Max when he sees her acting in such a manner?

“I never claimed to be a cookie-cutter soccer mom. That’s all good for some people. Not for me," she told Access Hollywood. “[Max will] grow up in a household where he knows mommy expresses herself artistically and some of that will have to reflect itself sexually, too, at times.

“He’s going to learn to respect the fact that women are allowed to express themselves and not feel shameful about their bodies or their sexuality.”

Sounds like a fair, mature message to us. WATCH THE "NOT MYSELF TONIGHT" VIDEO BELOW AND THEN SOUND OFF ON IT.

After years away from the main music scene - time she used to serve as a mother to son Max - Christina Aguilera officially returns on June 8.

The sexy singer will release a new album titled "Bionic." It features singles co-written by Aguilera, along with collaborations between her Sia, Tricky Stewart, Polow Da Don, Le Tigre and many others.

At Rockefeller Center

“Working on this album with so many talented artists and producers that I admire was really an amazing experience," Christina said. "The artists I chose to work with added so many unique sonic layers to Bionic. My intention was to step into their world and what they do combined with my own vision and sound. The results were magic.”

Are you excited for the return of Xtina?

She's a woman of many looks, dressing like a sexy boxer for the music video "Dirrty" and like a burlesque singer other times.

But no matter what kind of outfit Christina Aguilera chooses, a couple things remain the same: this is a gorgeous artist with a cute son and a beautiful voice.

We can't just leave it at that, however. What fun would that be?

For her next video, or her next night, out, Christina might be choosing between the contrasting styles below and she needs your help. Which do you prefer?
