After its first two episodes earned strong ratings and critical praise, NBC did the logical thing and changed the format and time slot of The Voice completely.

The blind auditions at 9 p.m. were so last week.

The battle rounds began Tuesday night, and in them, each coach pairs two teammates and challenges them to perform a duet, choosing a winner at the end.

Battles will continue until each of the four teams is cut in half. Luckily, the coaches' charisma and the singers' talent again made up for the confusing format.

Team Christina Aguilera: Frenchie Davis vs. Tarralyn Ramsey

The diva started things off with a bang by asking two other divas, Frenchie Davis and Tarralyn Ramsey, to trade verses of "Single Ladies." The tension was palpable.

Tarralyn and Frenchie's rehearsal footage was pretty terrific, as was the resulting performance. Tarralyn appeared to be in the driver's seat here. However ...

After The Voice premiere captivated 11 million viewers last week, could the NBC series' second episode keep up the momentum as the blind auditions continued?

Despite another confusing twist - because Cee-Lo was the only one to fill his team of eight, a group of initially rejected singers got a second shot - we'd say yes.

If anything, The Voice crammed too much into last night, but if the other option is to drag this proces out and give us 3-4 blind audition episodes, we'll take it.

The rosters are now set as we head into the "battle" portion next week. Here's a look at the four teams and some of the auditions that won spots on them:

The Voice, to hear host Carson Daly tell it, premiered Tuesday on NBC as "a singing competition unlike any other, because it puts vocal ability first."

Sort of.

Before we even get to the musical performances on the series the network hopes will coax you away from American Idol, here's how it works ...

The Voice Judges
  1. Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine must each draft eight singers to form a team in the "blind auditions."
  2. The singers come out to wow the coaches, whose backs are turned, with their voices alone. If one of the coaches likes The Voice, then ...
  3. He/she presses a magic button that turns his chair around; if he's the only judge to turn, that vocalist is automatically on his/her team.
  4. If more than one coach presses his button, the vocalist who's being fought over gets to choose which coach he/she wants to work with.
  5. Once each coach has chosen eight singers, he or she personally trains the members of that team to make them better vocalists.
  6. Then comes Round Two, in which each coach is responsible for cutting half the members of his or her team. Gonna be rough.
  7. In its last round, The Voice will start to look a lot more familiar. The 16 remaining singers will perform live. Viewers will vote.
  8. The victor receives $100,000 and a record deal. Yay!

Alright, let's get down to business!

Give Christina Aguilera credit for taking it all in stride.

It's been a rough few months for the star, who's gotten divorced, been involved a melee with Julianne Hough, arrested for public drunkenness and more.

She also forgot the lyrics to the National Anthem before the Super Bowl, which was mortifying at the time, but she's shrugging it all off pretty well now.

Christina appeared on Ellen today to promote her new show (follow the link for a long preview for The Voice) and addressed the Star Spangled Bungle:

"I had been singing that song my entire life. I was the youngest anthem singer in my hometown of Pittsburgh, PA. I sang for The Steelers as a child."

"I think 7 or 8. I would sing for them. I think had a moment where I was at the Super Bowl at 30 years old. I took in the moment a little too much."

After a mandatory six-month waiting period, Christina Aguilera and Jordan Bratman's divorce was made official Friday morning, court records confirm.

After separating in September, Aguilera, 30, filed for divorce from music producer Bratman, 32, in October. The couple shares a 3-year-old son, Max.

They always seemed happy, but just like that, Aguilera and Bratman are through. The divorce is finalized. Her downward spiral, however? Well ...

Christina and Jordan

In the six months since splitting with Bratman, Aguilera has ...

  • Started dating Matthew Rutler, whoever that is.
  • Attacked Julianne Hough for some reason.
  • Shown up at Jeremy Renner's birthday WASTED!
  • Forgotten the lyrics to the national anthem.
  • Gotten arrested for public intoxication.
  • Gotten her drink on soon after that.
  • Signed on as a judge on The Voice.
  • Been caught up in a raunchy photo scandal.

Hey, at least one of those items isn't so terrible.

She may be a judge on The Voice, but it sounds like Christina Aguilera will soon have problems surrounding her body.

Radar Online claims a source has contacted it with 109 photographs of the singer, most of which feature her in one raunchy pose after another. They were allegedly taken off a digital storage card this man found in a French hotel room.

Among the racy pics that may soon be circulating around the Internet:

  • A set of images that were taken on September 17, 2010 at Nicole Richie's bachelorette party in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
  • Aguilera in bed with boyfriend Matt Rutler.
  • Aguilera posing alongside two naked strippers.
  • Aguilera simulating oral sex on an unidentified male, while he holds a sex toy.
  • Aguilera mimicking a oral sex on a chocolate covered banana.

Are these photos legit? Will they ever be leaked to the public? Who knows. But given Christina's escalating downfall, it's hard to be shocked over their existence.

The Voice is coming to NBC.

Premiering on April 26, this singing competition will attempt to separate itself from American Idol and The X-Factor via one significant way: judges Christina Aguilera, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Adam Levine will listen to the initial set of auditions blindly.

Also, Carson Daly will host! Yes, he's still alive. Check out the first promo for the upcoming series now and then sound off...

Will you tune in for The Voice?

With her face plastered on tabloids and with a recent arrest on record, Christina Aguilera faced the press yesterday.

The singer made her first public appearance since being booked for public intoxication, telling journalists gathered for an event to hype NBC's The Voice that life can be difficult in the spotlight.

Christina in the Big Apple

"We're only able to be seen through the microscope of the media and what people gossip about," Aguilera said.

On the panel, Christina joked around with fellow judge Adam Levine and played with son Max throughout the interview. She continued:

"You take the good with the bad. It's by telling our stories, sharing our experiences and really giving a first hand look at us as human beings [that shows] who we really are, apart from what we seem to be."

Her goal as a judge on this American Idol-like competition? To inspire contestants.

"The Voice isn't about tearing people down. I want to bring people up. I want to empower them and give them all the tools I had. I love that I get to be apart of that."

The latest issue of Us Weekly states that Christina Aguilera has hit rock bottom.

But, sadly, that actually does not appear the case.

A witness at Osteria Mozza - the same establishment where Christina and Matt Rutler dined/drank prior to their arrest earlier this month - tells the tabloid the couple returned to that restaurant just three days after their wasted run-in with the police. And?

"She acted as if the arrest never happened," the onlooker says. "When their server offered them dessert, they asked for more wine."

Christina in the Car

Pssst, Christina: Maybe someone else should drive.

Tinger and her boyfriend wised up and took a chauffeured limo home, but a friend is still considered:

"She should see the arrest as a wake-up call, but she doesn't. She doesn't think things are that bad."

Christina Aguilera has just been named a judge on The Voice, NBC's upcoming answer to American Idol. This should be a high time in the singer's career, right?

Wrong. As has been well-documented - from a lyric flub on the world's biggest stage to a recent arrest for public intoxication - Aguilera is suffering a Britney-like meltdown in front of our eyes.

In the latest issue of Star, a friend says Christina has "lost her confidence" since splitting from husband Jordan Bratman.

The Downfall of Christina Aguilera

“She gets terribly sad, and that’s when all the awful memories come flooding back and she ends up numbing herself with booze and food," says the source, who claims Aguilera has gained 40 pounds over the last few months.

Pals believe Aguilera's new boyfriend, Matthew Rutler, has served as an enabler to the troubled celebrity. How will this relationship play out? They are scared to consider the possibility.

"Everyone is worried sick," says this friend. "She needs to get help before something even more serious happens."

Christina Aguilera Quotes

It's kind of hilarious! I've never fit into an E-cup before. I look at my husband and go, 'Guess what size this bra is?' And when I tell him, he's just amazed. We keep the tags that prove it, to look back for memory's sake!
