The X Factor may have crowned Melanie Amaro as its first champion, but that talented singer isn't the only contestant to benefit from her time on the show.

Sources confirm that Josh Krajcik, Chris Rene and Astro will all sign recording contracts with Sony Music, encouraging news for the second, third and seventh place finishers, respectively.

Krajcik, of course, quickly became a fan favorite after viewers both heard his soulful voice and learned he had been working at a fast food Mexican restaurant.

Rene, meanwhile, earned a large fan base due to his dancing and energy on stage, while Astro - real name: Brian Bradley - was the most controversial crooner on the show, a rapping savant with a cocky attitude that turned off many viewers.

We wish all the very best of luck!

It all boiled down to talent (Melanie Amaro) versus heart (Josh Krajcik) versus energy (Chris Rene) on the first-ever American finale of The X Factor, with a major recording contract, $5 million and serious bragging rights at stake tonight.

So, who took home the largest grand prize in reality show history?

Following an electrifying set of performances by Justin Bieber, 50 Cent, Leona Lewis, Pitbull and Ne-Yo, host Steve Jones announced the winner as ...

The X Factor Winner

... Melanie Amaro!

Obviously stunned and emotionally overwhelmed just after Jones made the expected announcement, a choked up Amaro said only "GOD IS GOOD!!"

And half a million thank yous.

Simon Cowell said simply, "We came here to find a superstar, and we found a superstar ... congratulations and thank you to all who supported this show."

Chris Rene got the chop first, leaving Melanie and Josh Krajcik in the final two. Before the results were unveiled, the two dueted on David Bowie's "Heroes."

The first season finale then closed out with a performance by Melanie. She sang "Listen," a perfect choice as it was arguably her strongest effort all season.

What do you think? Did Melanie Amaro deserve to win?

Let's give The X Factor judges and viewers credit. They selected three distinct finalists.

Melanie Amaro brings serious singing talent, which was evident in both her performances last night. Josh Krajcik is all about passion, digging deep this week on his concluding cover of "At Last." And Chris Rene can be relied upon for energy and enthusiasm, as displayed below in his pair of songs from the finale, a duet with Avril Lavigne on "Complicated" and a version of "Young Homie."

Watch each now and try to decide between the three finalists. The winner will be announced tonight. Has Chris Rene earned your vote?

It's down to three on The X Factor. Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene will sing for the title on tonight's final performance show.

So, who does Simon Cowell favor? It scarcely matters, he tells Us Weekly. Any one of the singers would make worthy champion.

The X Factor Final 3

"It will be the greatest final we've ever been in, in terms of talent," Cowell says. "The fact that all three of them are undiscovered before this show, amazing artists, amazing vocalists. One of these artists will be the legacy of this year.  This is $5 million dollar talent.  We are going to put on a show and it will be better next year."

While tonight should be exciting, tomorrow evening will really be the one to watch. Justin Bieber, Pitbull and Ne-Yo will all sing "superstar duets" with the show's finalists.

Which of the finalists do you think will win?

Marcus Canty, as most people predicted, was the victim on last night's X Factor results show, leaving Melanie Amaro, Josh Krajcik and Chris Rene to vie for the title.

Canty had been in bottom two four weeks in a row, and last week’s publicly unpopular elimination brought a lot of pressure - too much for him to last another week.

“The pressure is off," he said in an exit interview after last night. "I don’t have to sing no more save me’s. I don’t got to worry about America shooting me down."

"I ain’t got to worry about Simon giving me heat. I can just relax.”

The pressure may be off Canty, but for Amaro, Krajcik and Rene, it's just beginning.

Next week's finale means the culmination of their journey, but only one will be crowned champion. Canty played coy when reporters asked him who he thought would win.

“I think Chris [Rene] can do Chris, Melanie [Amaro] does Melanie, and Josh [Krajcik] … who knows who is going to win, man? I’m enjoying myself. It’s a beautiful day.”

Thanks for the input, Marcus. What do you think? Vote in our poll below!

The judges are not ready to crown Melanie Amaro X Factor champion just yet.

Following one of Chris Rene's two performances last night, Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul jokingly argued about whether or not he looks like $1 million on stage... or $5 million the grand prize that will be awarded to next week's winner.

Does Rene have the best voice in the competition? No. But his spirit "transcends across the universe," according to Scherzinger. That, or he's just very good looking, right, ladies? Watch Chris cover "Fly" and "No One" now:

For the second time this season, Chris Rene broke out an original song on The X Factor.

The performance followed a cover of Rihanna's "Live Your Life," and received nothing but praise from the judges. Nicole Scherzinger told Rene the sky is "the limit" for him, while Paula Abdul told him to "trust the universe" for some reason. As for Simon Cowell?

"You’ve got $5 million at stake and you decide to sing your own song," the panelist said, waiting a beat for dramatic effect: "That was a stroke of genius."

Chris Rene made a passionate plea to X Factor viewers last night, on an evening when the top seven contestants covered classic by Michael Jackson:

Just call his name, people, and Rene will be there.

The singer/rapper most definitely put his own spin on this MJ single, rapping various parts of it (the parts Simon Cowell liked best) and being told by LA Reid that he's "the truth." Paula, meanwhile, told Chris that he manifests "in abundance in the heart department."

That's gotta be a good thing, right?

Chris Rene is nothing if not original.

This X Factor finalist took to the stage last night and turned one of The Beatles' better known singles into an R&B track, breaking down "Let It Be" in a way most viewers had likely not heard before. He then transitioned into "Young Homie."

How did this unusual mash-up turn out? See for yourself:

Yes, we know: Bob Marley was inducted into the Rock 'n Roll Hall of Fame. But still.

Very few people associated this icon with that genre of music, although Chris Rene is apparently one of the few who considers the dreadlocked star to be a famous rocker. The X Factor finalist mashed up a couple of his biggest hits last night, invoking a response from Simon Cowell that made us laugh and nod our heads:

"It would have been great if this week was Reggae music."

Well said, Simon. Especially when compared to Josh Krajcik's take on a Foo Fighters track. Watch Rene do his own thing here:
