Chris Lambton: Going Yard on HGTV!

By now, you've likely heard that Emily Maynard is The Bachelorette. Well, it turns out she's not the only big name from the ABC franchise getting a new gig.

The Bachelorette runner-up Chris Lambton, who turned down a chance to star as The Bachelor after Ali Fedotowsky turned him down, is getting his own show.

On HGTV. It's called Going Yard! Get it?! He's a landscaper!

Chris Lambton on The Bachelorette

In Going Yard, Lambton, the co-owner of his family landscaping company in Cape Cod, Massachusetts, will transform neglected backyards into spectacular spaces.

In each episode, he and his E. Lambton Landscaping team will trick out a homeowner's yard with such features as patios, arbors, water features and fire pits.

In addition, Lambton's fiance Peyton Wright (a fellow Bachelor album) will join the business, pitching in with design projects. Good for them is all we can say.

A fan favorite runner-up in season six of The Bachelorette, Chris Lambton was previously a math teacher and league championship-winning basketball coach.

"With his landscaping expertise and easygoing, approachable personality, Chris is an exciting addition to HGTV," said Kathleen Finch, HGTV general manager.

Chris Lambton and Peyton Wright: Engaged!

Chris Lambton and Peyton Wright of The Bachelorette and The Bachelor quasi-fame are engaged, according to reports. They're engaged to each other!

The runner-up on Ali Fedotowsky's season of The Bachelorette began dating the contest from Andy Baldwin's Bachelor season last summer.

Peyton Wright, who met Chris at a Bachelor franchise reunion event (a.k.a. hookup fest), also appeared on season one of Bachelor Pad.

Lambton was offered the opportunity to appear as The Bachelor after he lost out to Roberto Martinez for Ali's heart, but he turned down the offer.

ABC decided to give Brad Womack another chance at love. Oye.

We all know how that turned out. Anyway, Ashley Hebert is The Bachelorette now, and Chris Lambton "found the love of his life" in Peyton Wright.

“We are so incredibly happy," he says. "She was worth the wait.”

Great news from a great guy. Congratulations to the couple!

Chris Lambton and Peyton Wright: Dating!

The Bachelorette runner-up Chris Lambton and Peyton Wright, a former contestant on The Bachelor herself, have found love on the reality shows after all.

Chris' followers on Twitter likely put together that he and Peyton, who vied for the love of Andy Baldwin a few seasons ago, were an item. Now it's official.

"Yes, I have," he told People at a Bachelor reunion party in New York, when asked if he found love. "We met at another Bachelor function," Wright adds.

Together since August, the couple hit it off right away.

"It's one of those things where I've had a ton of serious relationships and I met this kid and he was genuine, outgoing and hilarious. We just click," she said.

At the cast reunion event, which reports say doubled as a Bachelor Pad 2 casting session, Chris Lambton had no regrets about turning down The Bachelor.

"It's just not me," he said. "Sitting at home and watching the season with my family weirded me out. I wanted to find love on my own, not in that situation."

Good answer, especially now that's found Peyton. She's a pretty great catch, we admit ... although Chantal O'Brien and Emily Maynard are too. Just saying.

Unknown Bachelor Star: Likely Coming Soon!

Following Monday's season finale of Bachelor Pad, won by Dave Good and Natalie Getz, host-pimp Chris Harrison dished on the next star of The Bachelor. He is ...

TBA!

"We are starting production soon, and we're going to need somebody," Chris said, noting that the long-running show is still looking for Jake Pavelka's successor.

Ali Fedotowsky and Chris Lambton

Chris Lambton fell for Ali. Will others have a chance to fall for him?

"If you know any good bachelors out there, let me know," Harrison added, while saying he remains open to bringing back an unnamed former Bachelorette star.

Reading between the lines, it's clear ABC wants Chris Lambton, who Ali Fedotowsky rejected on The Bachelorette finale and got engaged to Roberto Martinez.

It's also becoming clear that Chris will likely pass if he hasn't already.

Report: Chris Lambton Offered The Bachelor, Likely to Choose "Normal Life" Instead

Should Chris Lambton be The Bachelor? To 87 percent of fans (according to THG's survey) who watched him on The Bachelorette, there's no question.

The Cape Codder won the hearts of millions falling just short in pursuit of Ali Fedotowsky. If ever there were a lock for the next Bachelor, it'd be Chris.

If he wants it, that is. Reportedly he does not.

"All of our best Bachelors have been hesitant at first," says a source cited by E! Online, who says Chris told the producers of the ABC show he'll pass.

Rather than a starring role with the tables turned, Chris Lambton wants to resume "normal life." A reality star wanting to avoid the spotlight? Novel.

Chris Lambton on The Bachelorette

It's not over yet, though: The Bachelor powers that be are still wooing Chris Lambton, in hopes of changing his mind and guaranteeing record ratings for next season.

"The producers really want Chris to be the guy," says a source with knowledge of the situation. "They're hoping to convince him. This definitely isn't dead yet."

And an ABC insider adds that it's "too soon" to determine who will, or won't, be the next Bachelor, or who would star instead of Chris if he sticks to his guns.

It's worth noting that Ali Fedotowsky bailed on The Bachelor to return to her actual life, only to pull a 180 and take The Bachelorette gig shortly thereafter.

Her exit from Jake Pavelka's season reeked of a stunt, though. Chris L. genuinely seems like the type who might actually turn down such an opportunity.

Should Chris Lambton Be the Next Bachelor?

Cape Cod Chris. The nice, handsome 33-year-old who moved home from NYC to Dennis, Mass., to be with his ailing mother won over millions on The Bachelorette.

Unfortunately, someone else won Ali Fedotowsky over more.

Suffice it to say, while we have nothing against Ali's fiance, Chris Lambton would have been a good choice too, and a graceful exit Monday only boosted his stock.

With the possible exception of Jason Mesnick, there's never been a more popular runner-up. We guarantee a starring role on The Bachelor is his if he so chooses.

We can't see the show selecting Jake Pavelka as its star had there been interest from Kiptyn Locke ... or Reid Rosenthal. But this season, it's Chris and only Chris.

Chris and Ali hit it off in Lisbon, Portugal.

Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez seem to have found genuine love and happiness on the ABC franchise. Should Chris take a shot at doing the same? Vote:

The Bachelorette Season Finale Recap: Poor Chris!

We have absolutely nothing against Roberto Martinez, to whom Ali Fedotowsky got engaged last night on The Bachelorette finale. It's just that, well ...

How can you not be devastated for poor Cape Cod Chris?

Chris Lambton distinguished himself as the better choice in our minds, although we respect how Ali handled things and wish her and Roberto the best.

Can they stand the test of time, or is she following an infatuation that will ultimately let her down? That remains to be seen, and many will have doubts.

What did you think? Did she make the right decision? Leave us a comment and let us know. In the meantime, here's THG's +/- review of the finale ...

Ali Waits

Having let Chris go, Ali waited with little suspense.

Ali's family seemed really nice. Although she seems a bit more tan and thin than any of them. This is a girl who thinks she looks fat? Seriously? Minus 7.

One got the sense early that Chris Lambton was done. Somewhere around when Ali said Roberto "makes me feel like a woman" (code for h*rny), and her dad speaking of Roberto almost romantically, Chris had no shot. Minus 5.

Ali to her family: "I just have some thoughts ... in my head." Minus 8.

Plus 10 for the genuine emotion throughout the episode, and pretty much all season from the show. By and large, it felt less contrived than most seasons!

Excerpts from an email conversation with a female friend and Team Chris member: "I love the idea of Chris' mom looking down and applauding that he didn't end up with Ali!! Hee heeeeee. Roberto is a doofus. Ali is a dorkhead and Frank, well, Frank is the kind of loser with his lovely queen Nicole. OMG, I am terrible... Oh and her boobs are shoehorned into that dress! Ali's smooshed boobs get a minus 8,000!" Minus 8,000.

Ali and Roberto

Ali and Roberto debuted as a couple last night - on and off the show.

On the "shocking twist" meter, Ali cutting Chris loose before the ceremony rates about a 2 out of 10. Mildly overhyped by the network. Minus only 9, because we they had to lure us in and mask a one-person rose ceremony somehow.

Heartbreaking as it was, props for Ali for saving Chris the humiliation, and props to Chris on the most classy reality TV exit of all time. Plus 257 for being the anti-Jake Pavelka and would make a terrific star of The Bachelor. Here's hoping.

The sweat buildup on Roberto Martinez's upper lip pre-proposal? Minus 100. Minus 146 more for the barf-tastic "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" montage.

TOTAL: -8,005. SEASON TOTAL: -7,858.

On the After the Final Rose special, the happy couple confirmed they are still together, and will be moving to San Diego while planning a spring 2011 wedding.

Will Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez last? Vote!

Yes! They are made for each other!
No, I just don't see the connection!

The Bachelorette Finale Shocker: Ali Fedotowsky Engaged to Roberto Martinez!

The sixth season of The Bachelorette just concluded in astonishing fashion as Ali Fedotowsky actually picked Roberto Martinez as the man of her dreams.

The most stunning part was not that she let Chris Lambton go before the final rose ceremony to spare him the agony, but that she picked anyone at all.

For weeks, Bachelorette spoilers suggested that Ali is single - that she either chose no one on the dramatic finale, or had already broken up with Roberto.

Not the case.

As for the "shocking ending" promised by the teasers, the "huge risk" Ali took and the "unprecedented" nature of the finale? Now we know. It wasn't about the outcome, but how she handled hard-luck Chris in the final episode of the season.

Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez Pic

Ali Fedotowsky and Roberto Martinez hit it off from day one.

Having fallen in love with his rival, Ali cut Chris loose even before his "last chance" date, breaking the guy's heart, but earning his respect in the process.

Start the Make Chris Lambton The Bachelor petition now, fans!

This twist explains the glaring lack of footage of Ali and the guys at final rose ceremony in previews leading up to tonight, because Chris never made it. They couldn't show just Roberto Martinez, or it would have given it away.

And there you have the much-hyped breaking of rules by Ali Fedotowsky - letting Chris walk, laying it on the line with Roberto and hoping he felt the same.

He does. They are engaged and planning their life together.

The Bachelorette did an uncharacteristically good job of keeping the finale's outcome a mystery, from Ali's coy remarks about being "happy with her decision" to the lack of promos. Kudos to them and congratulations to Alberto.

We'll have complete coverage tomorrow and all week, but tell us quickly here: Are you happy with the ending? Will Ali and Roberto last?

Yes! They are made for each other!
No, I just don't see the connection!

The Bachelorette Recap: Frank Neuschaefer Dumps Ali in Tahiti For Mediocre Girl Back Home

Whether it was the producers' idea, him writing himself into his own screenplay or prompted by genuine emotions, Frank Neuschaefer's move last night was ballsy.

Dumping Ali Fedotowsky for his ex-girlfriend this late in the game? That stings. Far worse than the antics of Justin "Rated R" Rego, who was far more transparent.

Frank was awkward. He was sad. He confused the hell out of us. And he broke Ali's heart. Love it or hate it, this was the watershed moment of the season so far.

Oh yeah, and two guys were also there vying for her heart (and no one else's). THG breaks down Monday's penultimate episode of The Bachelorette below ...

Frank Neuschaefer Pic

Frank hasn't been frank with Ali all along.

It's really odd how much ABC gives away in previews, not just before the episode airs, but for what's "COMING UP" during the episode. Not everyone reads The Bachelorette spoilers, ABC. We certainly do, but not everyone. Minus 5.

Let's delve right into Frank. He's been obsessed with Ali all season, yet loved this Nicole Caruso girl so much that he chose her after one cheesy heart-to-heart, then flew all the way to Tahiti to break the news? This makes no sense, Minus 14.

Nicole says had no idea one person could complete another. Has she never seen Jerry Maguire? Eh, she looks like she's about 19, so maybe not. Anyway, Minus 3.

Ali is way cuter and seems a lot cooler than Nicole. Just saying. Plus 5.

Not sure if they just need to kill time and stretch this filler into a two-hour show, but the gratuitous Ali bikini shots are off the hook this week. We'll take it. Plus 7.

The majesty of Tahitian scenery soon gives way to despair, seeing as we do not make enough money from these Bachelorette reviews to ever go there. Minus 8.

Ooh, a helicopter ride! That's a new one, Bachelorette! Minus 4.

Ali wears sexy lingerie to dinner with Roberto Martinez. Someone is a little boy crazy ... not that we blame her. Despite sweating profusely, he's a hunk! Plus 9.

Why do they always say the fantasy suite card is from Chris Harrison? Just so we'll laugh and point it out here, while praising the venerable host-pimp? Plus 8.

Bachelorette Ali

Will Ali Fedotowsky choose Chris Lambton or Roberto Martinez?

Roberto has to be the frontrunner heading into the August 2 finale, given his obvious chemistry with Ali. Much of their date could be Cinemax material. Plus 5.

Wait, Chris' mom died? Did we miss that? Minus 6.

Chris' date with Ali involves cruising around on a giant boat, playing in the water and finding pearls in oysters. Cute, but too many obvious jokes missed. Wash.

At dinner on a private island, he sweetly confesses that he can see himself with Ali. Roberto is her infatuation, but Chris might be an even better pick. Plus 12.

Chris says that his mom is looking down smiling right now. Minus 5 for the overkill, and Minus 14 more for the image of his late mom looking down smiling at her first born about to put it to a hot girl also dating someone else on a reality show.

After arriving in Tahiti for reasons known, Frank reflects: "I'm confident in the decision I made, but to hurt Ali and potentially break her heart is going to be one of the hardest things I've ever had to do ... so I wanna talk to Chris Harrison." Plus 56.

Eventually, he "confesses" to Ali and she seems genuinely miserable. Minus 19, 'cause it's very possible Frank and Nicole "broke up" so he could go on the show, knowing full well he could play this card for dramatic effect. He's a writer, after all.

Minus 2 for the annoying way he says "Nicole," and Minus 6 for Ali saying she "gave up everything" to be here for approximately the 458th time this season.

They have the rose ceremony anyway, an unnecessary but nice reminder for Ali that the two remaining guys are light years better than Frank anyway. Plus 7.

TOTAL: +23. SEASON: +166.

The Bachelorette Recap: Roberto Martinez Leads the Pack, Kirk DeWindt Gets Stuffed

After last week, The Bachelorette had its work cut out for it.

Not only were the stakes high for Ali with hometown dates looming, but the Jake Pavelka and Vienna Girardi clash made for riveting, must-see train wreck TV.

The hometown dates themselves last night? They all went well. Like, really well. She picked some good guys (mostly). Awesome for Ali, a little boring for us.

Still, there was plenty to like about the episode, and plenty of hometown drama for us to go over here in THG's patented plus-minus rundown of events ...

Roberto Martinez. Baseball uniform. Shameless, ABC. Plus 7.

Minus 3 for the wasted potential of baseball/dating puns (second base? eh?), but Plus 5 for Ali toeing the line between girly and sporty perfectly. So cute.

Beautiful Ali F.

Who will win the heart of The Bachelorette, Ali Fedotowsky?

The Bachelorette star? So what. Roberto Sr. wants to make sure Ali is good enough for his son. Plus 4 for him taking it to her, and for her handling it well.

If Roberto is the favorite, Chris Lambton is a close second. Ali Fedotowsky does seem to be a perfect fit in Chris' Cape Cod home. Bay State 4 life!! Plus 6.

Minus 5 for the slight overkill regarding Chris' mom. Yes, it's a big part of who he is, and he's very sincere. It's the producers who overdo this narrative.

How much do you want to swap your own family for Chris'? Plus 8.

The Lambtons are so, so genuine ... which ABC exploits with the bit about the mom "up there helping orchestrate all this"? It's The Bachelorette!! Minus 7.

Kirk DeWindt's date is the most awkward, as it involves two eccentric families and one taxidermist. But Plus 3, because everyone's really nice. It is Wisconsin.

Kirk DeWindt PictureFrank Neuschaefer Picture

At elimination time, you knew it was coming down to Kirk or Frank.

The women in Kirk's life are salt-of-the-earth folks who clearly love Ali. The only problem is Kirk himself. Nice as he is, there's just something missing. Minus 2.

"Sometimes love is a complicated thing." - Frank Neuschaefer. Deep. How can this man not be a writer when contemplative musings like this flow so easily? Plus 5.

Frank really needs a new look. Not only are his glasses too small for his face, is that a cardigan over a wife-beater? He's like Mr. Rogers meets The Situation. Minus 7.

On a similar note, the fancy dresses don't work on Ali Fedotowsky. She can totally pull off anything, but more baseball jerseys, fewer pink flowery gowns! Minus 4.

Plus 6 for the grainy, dream-like flashback footage during host-pimp Chris Harrison's fireside chat with Ali ... makes Roberto and Chris look even more dreamy, no?

Again, Frank. Is that a tux and a sweatshirt at the rose ceremony? Minus 3.

If The Bachelorette spoilers are to be believed, we know who's in the final two. If the promos for next week are to be believed, Ali may be paying a second visit to Kirk's father's basement ... to stuff Frank's corpse in that freezer. Plus 8.

TOTAL: +13. SEASON: +143.

Roses: Roberto, Chris, Frank. Out: Kirk.
