If there's anyone who can relate to the Ray Rice scandal, it's Chris Brown.

The former Baltimore Ravens running back and the combustible R&B singer are two of the most high-profile domestic abuse perpetrators around.

This was clear last night when CBS nixed Rihanna from performing during its big Thursday Night Football pregame show in order to cover the Rice scandal.

  • Ray Rice Image
  • Chris Brown Smile

A video leaked showing Ray knocking out Janay Palmer, his fiancee at the time and currently his wife, learning to his indefinite suspension from the NFL.

In the days since the footage leaked, debate has reached a fever pitch and the National Domestic Violence Hotline has seen an 84 percent increase in volume.

Women (and one ill-advised DiGiorno Tweet) have been weighing in around the clock with stories using the Twitter hashtags #WhyIStayed and #WhyILeft.

So what does Brown, who was convicted of felony assault on then-girlfriend Rihanna in 2009, and whose image never fully recovered, think about Rice?

When Chris Brown was released from jail back in June, he swore to friends and family that he would stay out of trouble.

Just three months later, Breezy is having serious trouble keeping that promise.

Chris Brown, Gang

Brown was on hand for the Suge Knight shooting last month, and he may still be under investigation for possible involvement. Prior to that, Brown was spotted throwing gang signs before passing out drunk after the BET Awards.

Breezy proved that he's a magnet for violence and criminal activity again last night when a brawl erupted following his performance at an NYC nightclub.

Police arrived on the scene around 3:20 am on Thursday morning, following reports that patrons were throwing bottles at one another inside the Manhattan hot spot.

It's sort of official: there's serious bad blood brewing between Taylor Swift and Katy Perry.

It all started when Swift told Rolling Stone that she penned a song on hew new album about an enemy in the world of music, someone who did “something so horrible” when she tried to “sabotage an entire arena tour."

Then, not long after these comments went public, Perry Tweeted a reference to Mean Girls and a "Regina George in sheep's clothing," who we're rather positive is Taylor Swift.

So the claws are pretty much out between two of the top-selling artists in pop music history.

Will things get uglier from here? Who will fire the next shot? And where does this feud rank among recent famous rivalries, which include Drake Bell HATING on Justin Bieber and Jimmy Kimmel trading barbs with Kanye West?

Flip around and decide now:

Katy Perry vs. Taylor Swift
Taylor Swift wrote a song titled "Bad Blood" about an enemy in the music business. We're pretty sure the subject was Katy Perry.

Chris Brown, covering Billboard magazine's latest issue, admits that "maybe I was out of control." This was prior to Suge Knight getting shot at his party.

How prescient the cover would become, and Brown spoke to the magazine about the shooting, which some believe was an assassination attempt on Chris:

Chris Brown Billboard Cover

"I realize that what I do for a living opens my life to public scrutiny and that I have a responsibility to everyone because of that exposure," Brown tells Billboard.

"I can say that I am only human and I have made mistakes. I can say that I try to live my life in the most true, honest way that I can. I am not perfect, no one is."

"No one is harder on me than me. No one can please everyone.

"No one can live in the past and expect to grow. I have been moving forward and hope that I am not defined by just a few moments but all of the moments that will make up my life."

The sad part for Chris is that while that sure sounds nice, more and more of the moments that make up his life have been controversial, sometimes even violent.

Chris Brown's violent temper reared its ugly head once again in October of 2013 when he allegedly punched a man in the face outside his tour bus.

Brown's bodyguard was convicted of assault in connection with the incident back in April, and today Brown pled guilty as part of a deal that will allow him to avoid further jail time and begin his upcoming tour as scheduled.

In court, Breezy blamed the incident for holding up his career for nearly a year. Frankly, we think his recent professional setbacks probably had more to do with the 108 days Brown served behind bars recently on totally unrelated charges, but what do we know?

Of course, Chris might just be mixing up his court cases. It can be difficult to keep his various convictions straight.

An attorney is actually alleging that the L.A. Police Department is responsible for the shooting that broke out at Chris Brown’s pre-VMAs party Sunday morning.

While Brown wasn’t hurt in the melee at West Hollywood nightclub 1OAK, famed rap producer Suge Knight was shot twice and is recovering from surgery.

Rumors are flying that the shooting was gang-related and/or a possible assassination attempt on Chris Brown. But a prominent lawyer has a different view.

  • Biggie Smalls Picture
  • Suge Photo

Perry Sanders, the family lawyer for the late rapper Notorious B.I.G., said the LAPD (headed by Chief Charlie Beck) is to blame for the shooting.

Long ago, the department failed to indict Suge Knight for Biggie's murder; Sanders also charges that the LAPD knows who killed Notorious B.I.G.

Of course ... Sanders makes the claim about Brown's shindig even though the 1OAK shooting isn’t in the LAPD’s jurisdiction, making it flimsy at best.

As for the link between Suge and Big Poppa?

An anti-smoking PSA, created by The Legacy Foundation’s Truth initiative, aired last night during the 2014 MTV Video Music Awards.

Depicting numerous A-Listers lighting up, the spot says these stars are giving “big tobacco tons of free marketing” and goes on to label such celebrities as Rihanna, Robert Pattinson and Lady Gaga as “unpaid tobacco” spokespeople.

"They’re the new face of big tobacco, and they don’t even know it,” reads the video.

Is this a fair label? Because young fans are clearly influenced by the actions of actors, actresses and singers?

Or is it foul for the PSA to call out stars who are typically only seen smoking because the paparazzi stalk their every move?

The PSA also does leave out the most famous smoker of all: President Barack Obama.

Chris Brown commented on Twitter following the possible attempt on his life Sunday morning which left Suge Knight shot and in the ICU with multiple bullet wounds.

Suge Knight Shot at Club
Suge Knight gets shot at a club in West Hollywood on the eve of the VMAs.

Police are currently investigating whether the West Hollywood shooting was gang related, as Knight, rapper Game and Brown all share ties to the Bloods.

Moments after the shots were fired, Brown was seen climbing onto what appeared to be a bar in the club as a bouncer told partygoers to "Get down!"

Four hours later, around 5:45 a.m. Sunday, Brown spoke about the incident.

"It's disappointing that we as a society can#t have fun or enjoy ourselves without any altercations sometimes. Miss me with the bullsh!t!!!' Chris tweeted.

Yes ... it's such a shame people can't have fun without throwing up gang signs, associating with known gang members and asking for trouble everywhere they go.

The gang affiliation shared by Chris Brown, Game and Suge Knight is being investigated as a possible cause of the latter's shooting Sunday morning.

Police are focusing on a beef between gangs that led to the nightclub incident that saw Suge Knight shot and sent to the ICU with multiple bullet wounds.

Chris Brown, Gang

The common denominator between Chris Brown, Suge Knight and Game, all of whom were present and have ties to the Bloods, is being extensively probed.

Chris Brown was throwing up gang signs prior to the shooting inside 1OAK early Sunday a.m., and was performing with a red bandana, the Bloods' calling card.

It's not the first time the troubled R&B star has flaunted his Bloods affiliation, throwing up their hand insignia and even giving shout-outs on Instagram.

At least one member of the Fruit Town Pirus, a Bloods-connected crew, is on Chris' payroll; Game, who was also at 1OAK, is proudly one of the Bloods.

Karrueche Tran and Chris Brown are a tough twosome to keep track of these days. One day they're split up and ffighting, and the next, talking about babies.

You read that correctly, and sort of scarily.

  • Chris Brown Eating Dinner
  • Kae Tran

Karrueche Tran and Chris Brown are clearly and publicly back together after they called it quits just a couple of weeks ago in bitter, public fashion.

Their breakup didn't seem to last long, as both hinted at a reconciliation via social media, then cleared the air at a charity football game last weekend.

Having established that they are both loyal to one another after all, Brown made Tran his #WCW (Woman Crush Wednesday) yet again this week.

Alongside a pic of Kae, he wrote, "@karrueche damn near 5 years and this woman still putting up with my s--t. Need to have this baby and stop playing! Lol! My WCW."

LOL!

Chris is most likely joking about putting a baby inside Karrueche, but the sentiment is clear. As was her own sweet photo and caption on Monday:
