Night four of The Voice blind auditions proved that sometimes, the second time is the charm, while even a gifted talent doesn't guarantee a spot on NBC.

Who blew away Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green and Blake Shelton last night after failing to turn a single chair one season ago?

Who else landed spots with the fab four of The Voice? Here's a look at the singers who successfully gained entry into the next round last night ...

James Irwin didn't do much for the coaches last season. This time, with is performance of the R.E.M. classic “Losing My Religion,” it was a different story.

Returning with newfound confidence and much more stage presence, Irwin had his pick of coaches, but went with the only one to point out weaknesses: Adam.

The Voice is back for a second week of blind auditions, with Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo Green, Blake Shelton and Adam Levine vying for the top talent.

There was no shortage of it last night, and with a show that seems to feature momentum changes and new fan favorites with each song, it’s anyone’s game.

Let's break down last night's blind audition contestants, shall we?

Preston Pohl, who  grew up performing in a Christian rock band until his mentor passed away, brought charisma and funk to MGMT’s “Electric Feel."

His originality and creativity really made the night, as the coaches swooned over him. Even Christina, who did not turn around, soon wished she had.

Adam begged and pleaded with the singer and ultimately his passion won out over the other two coaches / salesmen as Preston Pohl joined his team.

After a typically strong premiere Monday, night two of The Voice proved almost, if not just as entertaining as the first as Season 5 looks terrific so far.

On the premiere, the show-stopper was Michael Schuler. On night two, it was Tessanne Chin, a woman who Adam boldly said should win The Voice.

Yes, on night one.

Tessanne, 28, had the judges going all-in from the get go.

The final performer of the evening, singing “Try” by Pink, had all four chairs turned around and facing her before she even made it to the song’s chorus.

Adam proclaimed, “You could easily win The Voice this season.” Whether that was just a sales pitch to snag her or not, we can't say, but it worked.

Will she live up to the hype in the coming weeks? Time will tell, but the Jamaican native certainly made a name for herself on the stage Tuesday night.

Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton kicked off The Voice Season 5 premiere with a rendition of "I Love Rock & Roll" last night.

The quartet, reunited after Xtina and Cee Lo took last season off, showed no signs of rust in belting out the rock anthem by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts.

It was pretty fun. Check it out if you missed it ...

While Usher and Shakira were strong fill-ins, and will be missed in their own right, it was great to see Christina and Cee Lo back and raring to go.

Among the highlights of the fifth-season opener:

The Voice is back for a fifth season on NBC! The format remains the same, and after a one-season hiatus, Christina Aguilera and Cee Lo are back.

Was that a good thing on night one? Did you prefer Usher and Shakira or are you happy the original duo is back with Blake Shelton and Adam Levine?

More importantly, did the blind auditions live up to their billing?

Unlike ABC's Dancing With the Stars results show, there was no format change here. Just the tried and true magic that has made The Voice so great.

After the coaches came together to start the new season, they got down to business, bantering and competing for the talented singers who gave it their all.

Most notably ...

Matthew Schuler got all four coaches to turn around in like the first 15 milliseconds of his rendition of “Cough Syrup” and earned a spot on Team Christina.

No judging carousel or drama at NBC a la American Idol or X Factor. Cee Lo Green is returning to The Voice next season, along with Christina Aguilera.

Christina's return for Season 5 was announced last week. She and Green will replace their replacements, Shakira and Usher, this fall.

But fret not, fans of the mononymed duo - Shakira and Usher won't be gone for good. They'll be back for Season 6, which will air in mid-season 2014!

Adam Levine and Blake Shelton will remain in the swiveling spaceship chairs throughout for the NBC hit singing show, which is going strong.

Last week The Voice narrowly edged out Idol in weekly ratings, despite Candice Glover being crowned the winner on the latter's 12th season finale.

Are you happy Christina and Cee Lo are coming back?

The Voice's three remaining singers - Cassadee Pope, Terry McDermott and Nicholas David - gave it their all Monday in hopes of winning it all Tuesday night.

With stars so talented, yet divergent in style, it's anyone's game.

The three stars' teams have no relevance, with the coaches unable to sway the outcome beyond whatever their praise after the performances is worth.

Who will America crown the winner of The Voice Season 3?

Will it be Cassadee Pope, the pop-rock-turned-country cutie who reprised her signature performance of "Over You" in addition to Faith Hill's "Cry"?

The Voice's top four singers gave it their all Monday night in hopes of making it to next week's finals. With a quartet of stars with such talent and divergent styles, it's anyone's game.

The singers' teams have no relevance - Christina and Adam don't have a team - but it was a good night for both Blake Shelton and Cee Lo Green, whose proteges shone bright.

Who will America save, and who will go after four terrific, stripped down performances?

Cassadee Pope continued to look, act and sound the part of a pop star with Keith Urban's "Stupid Boy", while teammate Terry McDermott's "Let it Be" was close to perfection ...

With the stakes high and little margin for error, The Voice's remaining six contenders gave it their all Monday in hopes of advancing to the NBC show's final four.

Even though the coaches' teams have little relevance anymore - Christina doesn't even have one left - it was a good night for Entertainer of the Year Blake Shelton.

Cassadee Pope continued to shine as one of the favorites, looking, acting and sounding the part of a star, while Terry McDermott may have had the best night of all.

You have to give NBC due credit. The Voice results shows may be predominantly filler, but you could never accuse said filler of being mailed in or unoriginal.

Case in point? The Muppets occupying the trademark swivel chairs while Cee Lo Green and Kermit the Frog perform "Bein' Green" live ... you gotta see it:

It was a good night for Coach Green overall. In addition to this strange, but wonderful live effort, two of his three proteges advanced to the final six.

Speaking of which: Who should win The Voice?
