    I agree.
For me the disturbing issue is that she's being berated for respectfully and honesty answering a question without undermining her belief system. Would it have been better if she lied? Honesty, what the hell kind of message does that send to young Americans? The whole think reeks of Salem witch trials to me. For the record, I am in favor of gay rights, but again, I don't think that is the vital issue here.
I seriously wanted to smack the smug arrogance off of Perez's face when he asked that loaded question, as if he were going to use the audience to bully her into coming over to his point of view.
And what the hell does Perez Hilton care if one person is against gay marriage? He took the whole thing as a personal attack when all she was doing was honestly answering his question. I've seen the footage and I really don't think that there is any way that she could have worded her response in a more diplomatic, benign way.
This is America! You can't railroad people out of the

You are to be commended for your answer about marriage. It took alot of courage to stand firm in your beliefs and not give in, which is what Perez Hilton wanted you to do. May GOD bless you in all that you do and know in your heart you won alot more than a Miss USA pageant. Always put the Lord first and thank you for what you have done. Please include Perez in your prayers and ask GOD to work in his life.

I commend Carrie for standing up for what she believes. I am a christian and marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. If more people read the book called the Bible they would know that God does not approve of the gay lifestyle. Perez better be careful how he speaks about a child of God.

  5. MichaelWF

I don't know if any here are "making fun of gay people", but I will certainly condemn the homosexual lifestyle. And yes, I believe in God, and I have a right to judge homosexual acts as morally wrong. I am not ignorant on this issue, but my position is based on the Bible.

BTW, I do not live paycheck to paycheck... although, I'm not sure what my financial status has to do with my moral outlook on homosexual acts.

If you don't want someone's opinion- don't ask for it. The crowd should be ashamed of itself for acting how it did. And it's my unsolicitated opinion that people like Hilton and Don Imus should be removed from this planet so they would not continue wasting the precious air that decent people could be breathing. Miss Cali is my Miss Universe and I hope she dosen't regret being honest. Despite what alot of people will be saying about her- being good and honest is not a bad thing. I feel the say way about marrige but I do support gay rights. There has to be a way that that this debate can be worked out but name calling and animosity is not the answer. Until it can be worked out people need to be proud of who/what they are and accepting what others may be.

Hilton delivered a disgusting hate filled rant, that illustrated the "tolerance" of the left. I speak as an ex democrat. I can not believe what is going on in this country, especially in the media. Congratulations Carrie, for standing up for your opinion, your values, and congratulations Hilton to opening the eyes of many to the intolerant hate filled nature of today's liberalism

    Carrie:

You are a beautiful woman inside and out. Way to go!!!!!!

  9. Carole Ann

Perez Hilton expected her answer to be the politically correct one so he could score some cheap points for his side and when it wasn't his response was vulgar and obnoxious. I am sure parents would rather hold Carrie up as an example to their little girls of what a woman of character should be rather than Shana Moakler and the rest of these nasty sarcastic hollywood types who are jumping on the gay marriage bandwagon because they want to be thought of as relevant and hip. I think Carrie should run for the senate, California has some real problems with Feinstein, Pelosi and Boxer.

  10. Drewski

And aj, wow, I have rarely seen such hypocrisy in such close proximity. I don't judge people except for the uneducated trash living from paycheck to paycheck.

  11. Drewski

First off, let's be honest here. Perez Hilton is a bigot, plain and simple. For stating her political, social, religious, whatever you want to call it, views, she was no longer qualified to win. If you are honest with yourself, whatever side of the debate you are on, that is bigotry.

Hilton's kind of "thinking" will lead a McCarthyist charge against anyone who dares to believe that the traditional family is the the keystone of society. Freedom of speech is only appropriate when they say what you want, eh Paris, er, I mean Perez?

She should not have lost because of her beliefs. That's why we live in America people.Glad she has her faith and beliefs. Why does it always have to be what the gays want?Is that what the pageant is all about? You asked her a question and she answered it truthfully.Who cares if it's not what Perez wanted to hear.

  13. aj

I am a gay man and i think that Miss Prejean is justified in her answer. It is her opinion and is entitled to it and I dont judge her for it. I spent my whole life being judged for being gay, which is not a choice, and im not gonna be like ignorant people and start to judge her.
For all the other people on here that are making fun of gay people are ignorant trash. They probably never went to college and live pay check to pay check. Making fun of people because of who they are just shows how ignorant you are. Yes you believe in God and so do I but i dont go around judging people for who they are.
With all this being said Miss Prejean answer should not have cost her the crown but it donest give the right to bible thumping ignorant none college educated trash to start gay bashing.

  14. jdawg

Perez hilton is a biased son of a bitch! he wants someone to win that is honest and the real American, yet he booed someone for doing just that! Why on earth was he a judge anyways? He'll have a lot to answer for when he dies!

  15. rfg

Good for you Carrie, everyone has an opinion and is intitled to it. You don't have to agree with an opinion but you should respect someone elses one. Parez, you called her a bitch, not good, you're a little faggot who no one should listen to. If you don't like being called a faggot maybe you should watch what you call others. You are a useless person in my opinion and that's my opinion and I'm intitled to it just like you are with your own. Just because someone doesn't think the way you do is no reason to think they don't have a right to their thoughts. What if she thought the way you do and some homophobic judge did her wrong. Do you think there would be this much of a big deal made of it? I don't think so because too many people are so PC now and don't want to get fools like you on their bad side. As far as I'm concerned I don't care what you think and I don't understand why so many others even bother listening to you. Mayby you should just shut the hell up, go away, and leav

  16. maggie

Those of this chosen path are typically the most judgemental!!! Sad!!!

  17. angel

it is a shame that liberals can voice their opinion on subjects such as abortion or etc. but let a Christian say anything about their opinions or beliefs and they are persecuted Miss Prejean so was Jesus continue to stand for your beliefs

  18. dianna

I have to daughters and I am glad they saw you on national tv tell the truth about how you see gay marriage. It took guts to stand up for your beliefs. Now my daughters will know that it is important to stand up for your beliefs even if it cost you something that you hold dear. I am proud of you.

  19. BB

Do we not live in a Country with Freedom of Speech?
We all have opinions. What I beleive and what you beleive may be two seperate things; however, it does not make you right nor doe it make me right. Belittling someone and ridiculing them for what they believe is downright disgusting for the belittler.
Would you not stand on what YOU beleive?
Would you sacrifice your belief only to WIn something. If so then you are the one who is in the wrong.
I beleive in what I beleive and will stand firm no matter what the price!
    So should every American...

Miss California Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a great role model. The world just doesn't get it. God's word is true, every man a liar. Sin is sin is sin is sin. Adultery, fornication, anger, a lustful thought, lying, cheating, stealing, homosexuality, gossip, God is no respector of persons. Man has a sin problem: myself, Perez, Carrie, the judges, the world. Carrie's sin, my sin, that of the world, has been taken care of by Christ's finished work on the cross. Believe it, trust it, ask Him to save you and He will.

Wow!! As a proud father of a beautiful daughter, I am so proud of Carrie Prejean. That's one great example I can point to my daughter and say, "look at Miss California USA, she rocks, she loves the Lord, and she stood for Him when the world was watching. Jesus will be saying to her, "well done, thy good and faithful servant". Thank you Miss California, may God richly bless you and all you come in contact with.

"What shall it profit a man, if he gains the who

  21. Mike

I'm so proud of Carrie for her witness, I'm sure she'll be blessed for it. This homosexual question is so silly. I'm a man, and I love men, I love my dad, i love my brothers and friends. I DON'T lust for their bodies, and yea, there's something wrong with that. DA

  22. al

wow what a mess just for her answer, first of all everyone is entitled to have an opinion or not? she did no say "i hate gays" she said what she believes and that is it, wow now results that the majority is overcome or apaleated by a minority represented by this "guy" Perez Hilton (by the way what a ridiculuos name) she was honest period, this is ridiculuos.

  23. Karen Oliva

I don't agree about what she feels towards the gay community and their rights. Although my beliefs are different than hers. I don't think she should be attacked or booed because it was all her. She was being real and wasn't faking like probably the other bitches were just so they could win. I mean, look at some of the past Miss USA winners. Being fake got their faces humiliated because they weren't what they seemed at the pageant. I'm just saying we all gotta be real and accept people's answers though we may disagree. It's America and being real is beautiful, and please, let's not forget our first ammendment!

  24. Tyler Dawn

You should never ask anyone a question if you are not truly respectful of whatever their answer will be. Perez was fishing -- either for support of his position or for a fight. It isn't a fair thing to do to anyone, nor is it American to drive anyone into the closet, whether it be to keep their sexuality or their opinions censored.

Let's be real here, she never criticized gay people -- she is just being stigmatized for giving her honest OPINION. When we can no longer do that, then we will be living in a dangerous society. I don't care where your opinion falls on this issue, what happened to her is the same type of bigotry the people who are slamming her say they are fighting against. Either we are all free to be honest or none of us are.

  25. James

    Way to go Carrie.
BTW: Being gay is indeed a choice.
