I am a gay man and i think that Miss Prejean is justified in her answer. It is her opinion and is entitled to it and I dont judge her for it. I spent my whole life being judged for being gay, which is not a choice, and im not gonna be like ignorant people and start to judge her.
For all the other people on here that are making fun of gay people are ignorant trash. They probably never went to college and live pay check to pay check. Making fun of people because of who they are just shows how ignorant you are. Yes you believe in God and so do I but i dont go around judging people for who they are.
With all this being said Miss Prejean answer should not have cost her the crown but it donest give the right to bible thumping ignorant none college educated trash to start gay bashing.

First off, let's be honest here. Perez Hilton is a bigot, plain and simple. For stating her political, social, religious, whatever you want to call it, views, she was no longer qualified to win. If you are honest with yourself, whatever side of the debate you are on, that is bigotry.
Hilton's kind of "thinking" will lead a McCarthyist charge against anyone who dares to believe that the traditional family is the the keystone of society. Freedom of speech is only appropriate when they say what you want, eh Paris, er, I mean Perez?

Perez Hilton expected her answer to be the politically correct one so he could score some cheap points for his side and when it wasn't his response was vulgar and obnoxious. I am sure parents would rather hold Carrie up as an example to their little girls of what a woman of character should be rather than Shana Moakler and the rest of these nasty sarcastic hollywood types who are jumping on the gay marriage bandwagon because they want to be thought of as relevant and hip. I think Carrie should run for the senate, California has some real problems with Feinstein, Pelosi and Boxer.

If you don't want someone's opinion- don't ask for it. The crowd should be ashamed of itself for acting how it did. And it's my unsolicitated opinion that people like Hilton and Don Imus should be removed from this planet so they would not continue wasting the precious air that decent people could be breathing. Miss Cali is my Miss Universe and I hope she dosen't regret being honest. Despite what alot of people will be saying about her- being good and honest is not a bad thing. I feel the say way about marrige but I do support gay rights. There has to be a way that that this debate can be worked out but name calling and animosity is not the answer. Until it can be worked out people need to be proud of who/what they are and accepting what others may be.

I don't know if any here are "making fun of gay people", but I will certainly condemn the homosexual lifestyle. And yes, I believe in God, and I have a right to judge homosexual acts as morally wrong. I am not ignorant on this issue, but my position is based on the Bible.
BTW, I do not live paycheck to paycheck... although, I'm not sure what my financial status has to do with my moral outlook on homosexual acts.

I commend Carrie for standing up for what she believes. I am a christian and marriage is meant to be between a man and a woman. God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve. If more people read the book called the Bible they would know that God does not approve of the gay lifestyle. Perez better be careful how he speaks about a child of God.

You are to be commended for your answer about marriage. It took alot of courage to stand firm in your beliefs and not give in, which is what Perez Hilton wanted you to do. May GOD bless you in all that you do and know in your heart you won alot more than a Miss USA pageant. Always put the Lord first and thank you for what you have done. Please include Perez in your prayers and ask GOD to work in his life.

For me the disturbing issue is that she's being berated for respectfully and honesty answering a question without undermining her belief system. Would it have been better if she lied? Honesty, what the hell kind of message does that send to young Americans? The whole think reeks of Salem witch trials to me. For the record, I am in favor of gay rights, but again, I don't think that is the vital issue here.
I seriously wanted to smack the smug arrogance off of Perez's face when he asked that loaded question, as if he were going to use the audience to bully her into coming over to his point of view.
And what the hell does Perez Hilton care if one person is against gay marriage? He took the whole thing as a personal attack when all she was doing was honestly answering his question. I've seen the footage and I really don't think that there is any way that she could have worded her response in a more diplomatic, benign way.
This is America! You can't railroad people out of their values, what is the point of living in a democracy then!!!

I left California because I got tired of gays whistling at me. That's not "bias" its MY butt and I don't want a guy in it! Miss. Prejean is tolerant but you gays demand acceptance and THAT is NOT what founded this country nor is it how Jesus runs the Universe. The Miss USA pageant is on the bring of elimination. This thing has been struggling to stay alive and this bone head does this. His remarks has done more damage than her opinion. I oppose violence and harrassment of gays and transgenders and am totally turned off by this guys harrassment and violent words towards those of differing views.

Hang in there Carrie! You are more than welcomed to your opinion...I think it's great you had the courage to say what you believe, and I stand with ya! I don't have anything against gay ppl, but the extreme gay folks just preach and preach tolerance, but won't have tolerance for anyone who doesn't believe like them. It's so very hypocritical! What can man do to you when God is for you? :) BTW, just a word-I was all for President Obama, and am still proud of his accomplishments, but I think he better be careful about allowing or endorsing legislation that threatens to jeopardize people's right(s) to free speech...like disagreeing with homosexuality, for example. People have their own minds. The fools who go out and hurt gay ppl or those not like themselves, are going to do that mess whether you or anyone else says they disagree or not.

Carrie has spoken for the masses... Almost everyone respects her for voicing her opinion. Less than five percent of our population that's upset can take a hike. Perez Hilton is an immature bully....Did anyone see his interview after the pagent? He is an embarrasment to every Gay person out there. If he represents the Gay community " NO THANKS". In comparison Carrie was sweet, poised and real. The question at stake is not 'gay rights' but 'freedom of speech'. Her answer was very coherent. She was in a beauty pagent not a political arena for heaven's sake!!

Someone made the comment that she should have left her religion and politics at home. Dummies!!! She was ASKED. The judge is the one who should have left them at home.
And for the comment that "she represents all of California". If she was to answer one way for one group, and another way for another group, that's LYING! At least she stood up for not only what is right, but what she believes in.

The problem with homosexuals are not their sexual

Use other adjectives for homosexuality and the social
instution joining same sex couples. Reclaim the original
meaning of "gay" and define a new adjective for same-
sex unions, why not "merriage" instead of marriage.
Btw, impressed by Ms. Prejean and disgusted by "Mr". Hilton.
