Stunningly, Britney Spears Pissed at Mom Over Book
Britney Spears is "furious" with mom Lynne Spears, after Lynne threw her under the bus detailed her past in her new memoir, "Through the Storm."
While the book doesn't dish that much on Britney's sex life or drug use - at least beyond her deflowering (go Reg Jones!) at 14 and some binges in her teens - it blames all of Britney's problems on her former managers.
Britney Spears - who already considered her mother a leech siphon on her purse - is reportedly very upset about the book, especially when she feels Lynne herself caused many of her problems and issues in the past decade.
We don't suspect a quick reconcilation after the release of Lynne's book, which can be best (possibly only) described as an extremely d!ck move.
At present, Britney is only talking to sister Jamie Lynn Spears, brother Bryan Spears and father Jamie Spears, who, as her conservator and guardian, has cleaned up her affairs and put his daughter back on the right track.
Spears, who racked up three VMA wins, is even being allowed out by herself these days. She went to Las Vegas to catch a Cirque du Soleil show!
Afterward, Britney and her hairstylist, Kim Vo, went to Japonais and drank only water before hitting the blackjack tables and going home - sober.
Jamie Lynn Spears to Britney: Good Job
She may not have really sent a baby gift to fellow unwed pregnant teen Bristol Palin, but Jamie Lynn Spears definitely gave props to her big sister.
On Facebook, natch.
Her "status update" states: "good job Brit... I thought you looked amazing."
That about sums it up.

SISTERLY LOVE: Jamie Lynn Spears gives it up for a smiling Britney.
Britney Spears didn't really "do" anything but show up and read cue cards at the MTV VMAs last night, but she did appear happy throughout. Britney went on to take home three of the arbitrary awards, making the night a big success.
Britney Spears "Performs," Wins Big at MTV VMAs
Britney Spears opened up, then won big at last night's 2008 MTV Video Music Awards, taking home three awards, including Video of the Year.
She kicked off the show in a pre-taped skit with actor Jonah Hill - yes, he of the laugh-out-loud Superbad quotes. That movie was so funny.
This skit? Not so much. Here's the video ...
Yeah. Fortunately, the night got better for Britney after that. After the segment, Spears, in sexy, sparkly halter dress, walked on stage as "Baby One More Time" blared. She then won Best Female Video for "Piece of Me."
"I'm speechless... Oh, my goodness, thank you!" an elated, giggly Spears told the crowd. "I first wanna thank God for blessing me like this. My family ... my two beautiful boys [Sean and Jayden] for inspiring me everyday."
She later took home the award for Best Pop Video, telling the crowd again that she was "speechless" and thanking longtime manager Larry Rudolph. Britney Spears then closed out the night by winning Video of the Year.
"I'm in shock right now," she said. "I want to dedicate this to all my fans."
Britney Spears: Practicing For Something!
The great Britney Spears is back in the dance studio - practicing for... some kind of performance! Exciting! At least the girl looks good physically, as well as somewhat engaged in what she's doing! Is a career comeback in the works?
There are conflicting reports as to what she'll be doing specifically at the VMAs tomorrow night - but we'll be watching. Here's Brit rehearsing...
Through the ($h!t) Storm: Lynne Spears' Memoir Set to Cash in On Scandalous Britney Spears Gossip
For what was billed as an evangelical book about "parenting," Lynne Spears' widely-ridiculed much-anticipated memoir - Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World - is chock full of tawdry tales.
The New York Daily News reviewed a copy and shared some juicy tidbits:
- Britney Spears took a liking to booze when she was just a 13-year-old Mouseketeer, then began experimenting with drugs at 15.
- By 16, Britney's drug-fueled behavior stunned her family when the wild one was caught with coke and marijuana on a private jet.
- Lynne Spears knew about, yet openly allowed 16-year-old Britney to sleep with boyfriend Justin Timberlake, her Mickey Mouse Club co-star.
- Timberlake was misled about Brit's purity, as she had lost her virginity to a Kentwood, La., high school football player (Reg Jones) at 14.
- As Spears' career began to take off, the All-American mom went along with the hoax that Britney was a virgin to boost her image.
Man, way to throw your daughter under the bus right as she's getting her train wreck life back together, Lynne Spears. Good to see you'd rather try to get rich than do what's best for Britney just once. Enjoy the weather where you're going, sellout.
As we said when we first learned about Through the Storm, we don't think the title and cover do it justice. Here are our proposed versions ...
Britney Spears to Give "Some Type" of VMA Performance!
Britney Spears is scheduled to kick-off the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday night with "some type of performance," MTV confirms!
"MTV has long played an important role in my career," Spears, 26, said in a statement today. "How can I not be there to kick off their 25th VMAs? I'm excited to open the entire show, to say hi to my fans and to be nominated."
Britney Spears is nominated this year for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for "Piece of Me." She has been nominated a whopping 17 times before but never walked away with a prestigious "Moonman."
Her camp, most notably manager Larry Rudolph, has been denying that a performance is in the works. But that may all be a smokescreen.
Think about it: A flamboyant, kick-ass, secret performance from Britney Spears one year after her epic disaster at this very awards show?
It would either be a terrific way to jump start a long-awaited comeback, or be spectacularly bad, turning her even more into a national joke.
Either way, great celebrity gossip material. Can't wait!
Britney Spears Planning Secret VMA Appearance?
Despite repeated statements from manager Larry Rudolph that Britney Spears will not perform at the Video Music Awards this weekend, rumors are flying that she is still making an appearance as a presenter at the awards show.
Everyone from the production crew to wardrobe are preparing for the pop star to make a comeback, although nobody from MTV will officially confirm.
What’s interesting is that an inside source said Britney Spears has her own dressing room. Either the troubled singer is getting some super-special treatment or she will do a little more than simply hand out an award.
The mother of Sean Preston and Jayden James also RSVP’d for 944 Magazine’s MTV VMA pre-party to be held at Hollywood hotspot Kress on Wednesday.
Even that would mark her first officially scheduled party appearance for Britney Spears since the wreck launched Las Vegas club LAX exactly one year ago.
What do you think? Will Britney Spears shock the entire universe and perform at the VMAs a year after her epic disaster - and should she?
Britney Spears Enjoys Badly-Needed Long Weekend
Labor Day is a national holiday to celebrate the American worker. But even people who have no occupation can kick back as well, Britney Spears proves.
At least she looks good doing it. The alleged singer spent a low-key weekend in Las Vegas (talk about a contradiction in terms), poolside in a bikini ...
She may not be performing anytime soon, but Britney Spears looks damn good in a bikini and tattered jean shorts. No one can take that away from her.
Britney Spears Has a Fan in Pharrell Williams
It's still a week early for the MTV Video Music Awards, but Britney Spears, who is up for three awards, is already garnering support.
Count one hip-hop heavyweight, producer Pharrell Williams, among her fans.
"She's made her mark with her career," Williams said at the Pepsi 500 party in Hollywood, which he hosted. "She's super-talented. She's an entertainer."
Williams previously collaborated with Spears - who some consider to be the worst singer ever - on her hits "I'm a Slave 4 U" and "Boys."
"It was cool, it was fun," said Williams, who is currently working on new music with Common and Fall Out Boy, of working with Britney.

Besides video of the year, Spears' nominations include best pop video and best female video. She has never won a MTV Video Music Award.
"I'm not sure [if she will win]," Williams said, though he added that "I don't even know if it really matters whether she wins or not."
Britney Spears is competing with the Jonas Brothers, Chris Brown, the Pussycat Dolls and the Ting Tings for music video of the year.
Her live MTV VMA performance of "Gimme More" last year was an epic disaster. This year, probably for the best, Spears is not scheduled to perform.
Cashing in on Brit: Not Just For Lynne Spears Anymore
Apparently Lynne Spears isn't the only person publishing a "tell-all" to try and make a quick buck on Britney Spears' recent craziness.
In Touch Weekly has the inside scoop on a new book apparently (and rather amazingly) titled Stalking Britney: Britney Under Siege.
This book was written by a journalist by the name of Ian Halperin - a New York Times best-selling author who followed the troubled singer around, undercover, for 18 months masquerading as a celebrity gossip photographer.
“She’s on a high right now, but her life goes in circles,” Halperin said in an interview with the celebrity news magazine. “It’s like a roller coaster ride. She's highly sensitive, and just one little thing could set her off.”
Wonder if the author of Stalking Britney got any good crotch shots.
Lynne Spears must be pissed. She gives birth to Britney Spears and milks money out of her for 26 years and what does she get?
Someone stepping on her gold-digging turf, that's what. The nerve of people.
