If you read our recap of Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp, you know we thought it was terrible on every level. Well, it turns out Kyle Massey is even more steamed than the public, claiming it was his idea and he was screwed over by Lifetime!

Kyle, his brother Chris Massey and their mother Angela have sued the producers, charging that the Masseys came up with the concept and started shooting a series that involved themselves and Bristol, only to be cut out and uncompensated.

Bristol was not named as a defendant in the 31-page lawsuit.

"It is unfortunate that after months of trying to resolve this matter the professional way, we were left with no other course of action than taking legal action to protect ourselves," Angela Massey said in a statement announcing the legal claim.

"If you read the entire complaint, and particularly pages 8-11, you will see how we came up with and created the show, registered the show and did all the leg work to bring this idea to TV and to the defendants, who stole our concept."

Originally titled Helping Hands, the show was to feature Bristol Palin, who was allegedly dating Kyle Massey, moving in together with her son Tripp.

Bristol Palin's new reality show, Life's a Tripp, premiered last night, and regardless of where you fall on the political spectrum, it was terrible in every respect.

The problem is not that Bristol is the daughter of Sarah Palin, it's that she comes across as a caricature; a TV personality, but not a real person by any means.

It's also entirely unclear who the project is aimed at. Uninteresting and brazenly clueless about life and the world around her, BP is not an engaging heroine.

Life's a Tripp is basically like The Hills, Jersey Shore and The Real Housewives of Orange County combined, without the self-awareness of any of the above.

Let's break it down, THG +/- style, and see how:

Bristol Palin Riding

Bristol announces the concept of her show - moving to L.A. to work for a charity, getting out of her comfort zone, etc. - and sounds 100 rehearsed. Minus 20.

Also, Tripp is three. How is this "life experience" for him? Minus 10. Good thing younger sister Willow came along too. Who needs a job or school, right?

Sarah Palin sighting! The Mama Grizzly references The Beverly Hillbillies. Is that what this is supposed to be a takeoff on? We're still unclear, but Plus 5.

Never mind that Bristol is already famous enough to live in Beverly Hills, and acts entitled, like she belongs there, no matter what she might say. Minus 5.

The ladies announce that they are staying in one of their “parents’ friends’ houses” ... which is a giant mansion. Very real and down-to-Earth, girls. Minus 5.

“People are a lot more into their image here than in Alaska.” - Bristol Palin, on a show named after and detailing the struggles of Bristol Palin. Minus 430.

The heckler caught on tape harassing Bristol Palin at a bar last fall is apparently suing Lifetime for putting the altercation on her new reality show.

She was riding a mechanical bull when Stephen Hanks began heckling Bristol Palin, yelling, "Did you ride Levi like that," "Your mother is a whore," etc.

Palin confronted him, asking if he didn't like Sarah because he is "a homosexual." Things got headed, but afterward, Hanks apologized to Palin.

But now he's suing for defamation, invasion of privacy, intentional infliction of emotional distress and misappropriation of right of publicity.

Hanks' attorney, Michael Gulden, says no one ever asked Hanks to sign a release for the footage to be used on Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp.

The video (above) has been online ever since the altercation and has been viewed nearly a million times. Still, he's seeking damages in court.

"He felt this was the only way he could protect his rights," Gulden says, adding, Hanks was "simply a patron at the bar" where this went down.

Lifetime says it has "no comment" because it is a legal issue.

Bristol Palin's new show, which she says shows a "normal" and "grounded" side of her, premieres Tuesday. Check out some Life's a Tripp photos.

Lifetime has released some promotional pictures for Bristol Palin's new reality show, and doggone it, she looks like such a grounded, normal mom!

Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp (get it?!) premieres on June 19 with two (!) episodes. Here's one awesome reason why you should check it out, too.

Behold, Bristol riding a mechanical bull. She's so fun!

Bristol Palin Riding

This pic was taken, of course, during the infamous incident where Bristol was asked if she rides Levi like that (hilarious) and then got all up in the face of a heckler who said some really vile things about her mom (not hilarious).

Through it all, Life's a Tripp will document the ups and downs of Sarah Palin's daughter as she adjusts to life in L.A. with her young son, Tripp.

"Giving viewers a unique look at the difficult decisions she makes for relationships and family," Lifetime says, will testify to Palin's resolve.

Bristol Palin insists that viewers will see a more "normal" and "grounded" side of her on Lifetime's new reality show, Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp.

"I think I have tough skin and I know that God is on my side and my faith is everything to me," she said on Good Morning America earlier today.

"It's just the root of my life and my family's life and I think it will do well."

Robin Roberts' MDS revelation dominated the show, but the daughter of Sarah Palin sat down for a brief interview regarding her new program.

Bristol Palin says people will find her a lot more normal than they think when they see the show, premiering June 19, but she's no shrinking violet.

Sarah Palin's daughter, who gave birth to son Tripp with fake fiance Levi Johnston in 2008, says she has turned haters (like Bill Maher) into her motivators.

"When people talk poorly about me, I think it just gives me more motivation to want to do more and want to speak up even louder," she says.

"They're just not doing themselves well by doing that."

Bristol says Sarah Palin supports the show and trusts her judgment always. Little Tripp was also open to the idea of having cameras at home.

"Tripp didn't care if cameras were there or not," Bristol said. "He's still going to be rowdy, still going to be a little terror, but it was a lot of fun."

Bill Maher loves to make jokes at Bristol Palin's expense. The daughter of Sarah Palin, whose new reality show premieres next month, says he IS a joke.

On June 19, Lifetime debuts Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp. Whether the new series succeeds or not is an open question. How Maher feels about her is not.

The comedian and talk show recently joked that Bristol will probably name her next baby Colt 45, after what Bristol's drinking when she gets pregnant.

That dig, also directed at her baby daddy Levi Johnston, who has another kid on the way (with Sunny Oglesby), did not go over well with Bristol Palin.

Asked what she thinks of Maher, she told Zap2it, "I find it really weird that all these adult men, that they're always trying to say something about me."

"They're older than my dad. They're just evil. They're like little girls. I feel like I'm in high school with a bunch of teenage girls. It's very strange to me."

Regarding what she'd say to Maher, Palin says, "I don't know. I'm not sure what I would say. I'd kind of shake my head at him. I think he's a joke."

Maher Tweet

"My mom just heard me say something about Bill Maher [and said], 'I'd punch him in the throat!' Someone does need to put him in his place, though."

"If my dad or any of my guy friends got a hold of him, he'd have another think coming," she adds in jest ... or not really. "He really is a joke."

Maybe so, but that Tweet above was pretty funny.

Bristol Palin's new reality show on Lifetime, entitled Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp (get it!?!), premieres next month. And what a show it should be.

In addition to her home life, the show contains plenty of footage from her life as a quasi-celebrity after her appearance on Dancing With the Stars.

Perhaps most notably, her infamous altercation with a boisterous man at Saddle Ranch in Hollywood when she went out mechanical bull riding.

Bristol received flack for asking if he was gay after he called her mom a “whore” and the “f*cking devil” and asked if she "rides Levi like that."

When she's not getting heckled and responding with unnecessary gay remarks, the daughter of Sarah Palin spends the bulk of her time as a mom.

The show centers around Bristol settling into life in L.A. with her three-year-old son Tripp. Her sister Willow comes along to help look after the boy.

The outspoken "celibacy activist" (a choice line from Lifetime's bio of her) says that she wants to clear up a lot of the misconceptions about her.

Also subject of the reality show is her on-again, off-again boyfriend Gino Paoletti, who she’s been seeing intermittently for the past few years.

"Bristol Palin is the daughter of Sarah Palin. She got pregnant by accident just as her mom was added to the 2008 Republican ticket, at which point she pretended to be engaged to Levi Johnston, then attempted to cash in on her 15 minutes."

Lifetime's press release for Bristol Palin's new reality show COULD say that, and it wouldn't be incorrect, but alas, their bio is a bit different.

Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp (get it?!) premieres on June 19 with two (!) episodes. Here's Lifetime's explanation of why you should watch it:

A Bristol Palin Pic

"Viewers will get the chance to experience the life of one of America’s most famous young mothers, Bristol Palin, in the new docuseries ... showcasing Bristol’s journey growing into womanhood with her young son, Tripp."

"With never-before-granted access to Bristol’s real-life experiences, the show follows her everyday life as a single mother living under intense media scrutiny that comes from her lineage as the daughter of former Alaska Governor and V.P. candidate Sarah Palin."

"The series follows Bristol’s move from Wasilla to Los Angeles with Tripp and her sister Willow, and back to Alaska as she deals with parenting and disciplining her toddler without Tripp’s father."

"Giving viewers a unique look at the difficult decisions she makes for relationships, career and family, Bristol Palin: Life’s a Tripp will capture how true-to-life challenges test her resolve as she single-handedly writes the next chapter in her and Tripp’s life."

Lifetime has released the first promo pic for Bristol Palin's upcoming reality series, called "Bristol Palin: Life's a Tripp." Yes, this is a real story and a real show.

The title is a play on words, natch, because her three-year-old son is named ... Tripp. Is he Tripp Palin or Tripp Johnston? That we don't know honestly.

What's undoubtedly clear? The kid's a dead ringer for his deadbeat dad:

Bristol Palin, Tripp Palin

The show chronicles Bristol and Tripp's journey from Wasilla, Alaska to Los Angeles, Calif., where Bristol accepts a job with a local non-profit organization.

Bristol Palin tells TV Guide of her decision to star on her own reality show:

"I was game for it. I wanted to show how down-to-earth my family and I are. My parents were skeptical at first. But they know I'm responsible."

"I won't be getting drunk on TV. This isn't Jersey Shore. It's a family show."

Okay, there's no way Sarah Palin objected to any publicity for her family. Unless she's just jealous that she's not starring, in which case we'll buy it.

The 14-episode Life's a Tripp premieres June 19 on Lifetime. Spoiler alert: She will not be letting trip watch Glee, as she thinks it makes kids gay.

Bristol Palin is, predictably, receiving a swift and solid Twitter smackdown after speaking out against President Barack Obama's support of gay marriage.

Palin said, in short, that heterosexuals make better parents, Obama is a pushover who lets kids script his policy statements, and Glee might make you gay.

Shortly after writing her blog post ripping Obama, Bristol's hearing about it.

A few comments directed at the unwed 21-year-old mother, who says "in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home," are as follows:

Bristol Palin Book Signing

JWoww: "Bristol should keep her uneducated ignorant mouth shut... If Ur living in the past u wouldn't have a kid w/out marriage #hypocrite. It's 2012!"

"My best friend will get married one day and not just have civil union with his man. Stop hating people," added the outspoken Jersey Shore star.

Sherri Shepherd: "Sara Palin educated Bristol... and not blaming Bristol, but I'm blaming Bristol being young & not excercising good judgment."

Samantha Ronson: "'We know that in general kids do better growing up in a mother/father home.' really bristol palin? how's your kid doing?"
