Mercede Johnston, Levi Johnston's little sister, is happy for him and her soon-to-be sister-in-law Bristol Palin, who announced their engagement early last week.

Mostly happy.

She's not quite sure why they're racing down the aisle ... and you aren't alone there, Mercede Johnston. The timing and nature of the announcement was odd.

Recent reports that Levi and Bristol are already in the process of shopping a show about their second engagement and futre nuptials came as no surprise to us.

Noting that she, like Sarah Palin (supposedly), learned the news from Us Weekly, Mercede hints at this ulterior motive for their engagement on her blog:

Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston

Levi and Mercede in simpler, pre-celebrity gossip times.

"I have to say with all the odd things going on lately I expected something. However I think there may be more to this picture than we are able to see now.

I would like to take a moment to congratulate my soon to be sister-in-law and my big brother. I sure hope this is a sincere decision that you have thought through carefully Levi, and that it will bring you happiness.

I do wish you guys would take a little more time with this, and do not understand why you are rushing things. Unless of course there is some reason for the hurry.

I am also very happy to see Tripp in Levi’s arms again, and I do know that it will be good for him to have both of his parents back in his life full time from now on. And you know he really does deserve the best that you can provide.

I can’t wait to watch the two of you wed, I wouldn’t miss it for the world."

Levi and Bristol: Will it last?

Remember yesterday, when we cynically posited that, maybe, just maybe, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston got engaged for show ... as in a reality show?

Looks like we know our stuff.

Levi and Bristol are already looking for a reality TV crew to chronicle their rekindled romance, according to a source very familiar with the negotiations.

This morning, TMZ reports that the couple, which announced their surprise second engagement earlier this week, is shopping "multiple reality shows."

Some ideas involve the couple and 18-month-old son, Tripp. The duo split up shortly after he was born, when Levi went on an anti-Palin media crusade.

"Oooh, that producer definitely looks interested!"

Sources say the leading concept from the two, who aren't having sex until they tie the knot, currently involves all three and their "parenting issues."

Yep, pretty much what the online rumors suggested.

It's unclear if the show would be set in Alaska, or if Bristol's mom, former Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, would be involved in some capacity.

They could strike a deal soon, as negotiations are "ongoing."

Of course, Blevi looking for a nice payday doesn't mean they aren't getting married for love ... but you do have to wonder where that line is blurred.

New show or not, will Levi and Bristol last?

Yesterday, we reported the joyous engagement of the previously-engaged, then estranged, then reconciled tandem from Alaska, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston.

It's a wonderful thing, couples doing what it takes for love, for a child. But given who we're talking about, there are cynics who suspect other motives at work.

Seriously, when's the reality show announcement? Next week? The week after?

We stress again, this is just a rumor started by cynics. Yet it wouldn't shock us. Think Bethenny Getting Married meets Northern Exposure meets the RNC!

Gawker floats the following theory: "Within the next 4-6 weeks Palin's PR people will releases news that Bristol and Levi will 'star' in a new reality show."

Levi Johnston, Bristol Palin and Tripp

This photo likely helped Levi pay child support for a year!

"All about young parenting. And yes, they will also work up to a wedding." One they will remain abstinent prior to, of course. Because they're like that.

"This is part of the planned 'story arc.' Levi will be promoted as young, decent, salt of the earth guy. Bristol will be seen dealing with 'challenges' of young motherhood."

"Willow will be on a lot, maybe some Piper thrown in. They'll attempt to boost rankings the first few episodes by having Sarah cameos, but the rest of the time will be a 'conservative young marrieds who just happen to already have a baby' theme."

Is such a scenario that crazy? Think about it. Levi's on the hook for $1,700 a month in child support - that's like $3,000 per month before taxes - a sizable sum even if one weren't tied to the state of Alaska or lacking for a college degree.

We're just saying. The reality show would give him a salary, get the Palins get off his back, and get everybody on the same page as far as hyping the mythical exploits of Sarah Palin and her brood. Foolproof if you think about it.

Reality show or not, will they last?

Most of the time, when a couple vows to stay abstinent until marriage, the dude hasn't already knocked up the girl, broken up with her, trashed her mom in the media, posed nude in Playgirl, then rekindled the romance during custody negotiations.

But hey, whatever works for Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin!

America's favorite unwed teen mom and her once-estranged baby daddy surprised us by getting back together last month, then flat-out floored us with news that they are now engaged, and planning on tying the knot soon.

Like real soon. By the end of August!

Levi and Bristol say they hope to get married within the next six weeks, and due to her abstinence pledge, won't be having sex again until after they say "I do."

No word if there will be protection involved at that time, or if they simply don't believe in that. Tripp is really cute, he'd probably be an awesome big brother.

The best part, aside from the abstinence thing, is that they say they didn't tell her mom, Republican political heavyweight Sarah Palin, about the engagement.

Instead, they told Us Weekly, who broke the story earlier this morning, hoping that it was one of the "variety of sources" the former Alaska Governor reads.

As for the wedding, they'll be getting married in Alaska, natch. According to sources, she wants Levi to wear a camouflage vest, too. That may not be a joke.

Regarding those nude Playgirl photos that sparked so much controversy ... Bristol Palin claims she hasn't seen them and chalks it up to "Levi's old life."

It ran in February. Just saying.

Having recently rekindled their romance, Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston are now engaged - and not just to bolster her mom's poll numbers this time!

"We got engaged two weeks ago," the daughter of Sarah Palin tells Us Weekly. "It felt right, even though we don’t have the approval of our parents."

Bristol Palin is 19 and Levi Johnston is 20. They famously called off their previous engagement weeks after welcoming son Tripp in December 2008.

After an icy period of estrangement, nasty accusations and PR wars, they reconnected a few months ago while working out custody plans for their son.

"I really thought we were over," Levi said. "So when I went, I had no hope. I think we both just started talking, and then we took Tripp for a walk."

Bristol and Levi now and during their previous fake engagement.

She says when Levi Johnston left that night, "we didn’t hug or kiss, but I was thinking how different it was. He texted me: 'I miss you. I love you.'"

"'I want to be with you again' ... I was in shock."

The two got back together in June, officially.

But perhaps the most amazing part, if you don't believe this is being embellished to sell magazines of course, is that the former Republican Vice Presidential nominee has been kept in the dark about the youngsters' plans ... until now!

Says Bristol: "It is intimidating and scary just to think about what her reaction is going to be. Hopefully she will jump on board." But will she?

Sarah and Todd Palin said in a statement: "Bristol at 19 is now a young adult. We obviously want what's best for our children. Bristol believes in redemption and forgiveness to a degree most of us struggle to put in practice in our lives."

Sounds like a thumbs-up to us ... or not? Either way, congratulations to the young couple. We're happy for them ... but still, we gotta ask ...

Will Bristol and Levi last this time?

Bristol Palin says her acting debut on last night's episode of The Secret Life of the American Teenager was probably her last venture into that career field.

But don't expect her to line up any more acting gigs in the future.

Asked if she wants to pursue an entertainment career after her debut effort, she says, "Not acting. I like doing speaking engagements and stuff like that."

"Right now I'm just focused on raising Tripp," Bristol Palin adds.

B-Palin

The 19-year-old mother of 1 1/2-year-old son Tripp, whose father Levi Johnston, says she was happy to film the episode of The Secret Life just the same.

She appears as a friend of Amy (Shailene Woodley) at a music program for teen moms in NYC: "I didn’t have many lines or anything like that," says Palin.

"I just hope that this show opens up a dialogue between parents and teens - and teens amongst themselves - about the consequences of teen pregnancy."

Is she discouraging or promoting teen pregnancy?

Bristol Palin is no stranger to the spotlight - her mom, Sarah, ran for Vice President of the U.S., and Bristol herself became a celebrity for having a child out of wedlock.

While the 19-year-old is in Alaska raising Tripp, she still makes news often, be it for her relationship with Levi Johnston, her TV debut or random magazine interviews.

Bristol Palin Shakes It

Speaking of which, regarding rumors that she and Levi are back together after a year at each other's throats, Bristol wouldn't really go into it with In Touch Weekly.

“There are a lot of rumors about everyone and everyone’s business,” she said. "We are working together and whatever is best for Tripp is what we are going to do.”

She is thrilled, however, to call attention to her guest-starring gig on her favorite TV show The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, a show about teen pregnancy.

In the episode, airing Monday, Bristol Palin plays herself and befriends Amy (Shailene Woodley), whom she meets at a music program for teen mothers.

“There was no hesitation on my part at all,” she tells In Touch. “It’s a family-based show, right up my alley. Teen pregnancy is something I can relate to."

"It was a good fit. Going through the teen pregnancy at the same time Amy was going through hers was extremely relatable. I had felt the same things.”

Bristol Palin adds that she's not hoping to become a movie star.

“I have never done anything like this,” she smiles, “and I don’t think I will ever do any sort of acting again. I’ll leave it to the experts. But I had a great time.”

She's also ready for her detractors: “I don’t really pay attention to the negative stuff written about me I don’t know why they would say anything negative."

"Just because we are dealing with the teen pregnancy issue and sex and relationships? It’s not like I am acting as a prostitute or something.”

No, but whether she educates and discourages or merely promotes and glorifies teen pregnancy while enhancing her own celebrity status is debatable.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager is set to welcome an American teenager whose personal life has been anything but secret for the past two years.

Bristol Palin, 19, will appear as herself in the July 5 episode.

The series, now in its third season, focuses on families, friends and how they deal with the unexpected pregnancy, and subsequent motherhood, of a teen.

Main character Amy Juergens, played by Shailene Woodley, will befriend Bristol Palin at a program for teen mothers, at which point Bristol delivers her line:

"We're all teen moms and musicians. The program – it's for teen moms."

Nice. Here's a photo of The Secret Life of the American Teenager moms ...

Having just gotten back together with baby daddy Levi Johnston, according to reports, things are going well for Bristol, mother of 18-month-old Tripp.

As well as they can be expected to, at least. The daughter of former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin takes care of herself and Tripp by working multiple jobs.

Aside from the controversy of Mercede Johnston's blog, life is really on the upswing these days, and we look forward to seeing Bristol's TV debut.

Not even 72 hours after reports surfaced about Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston getting back together, his sister Mercede has debuted her official site.

It could draw the wrath of Sarah Palin and brood, too - Mercede Johnston's new blog pledges to "answer all questions related to the Palin family."

One of her claims? Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston planned to conceive Tripp, the 18-month-old son they've spent much of the last year fighting over.

It was widely assumed this was an accident, but "During that time period, she and Levi were sexually active and trying to conceive," Mercede writes.

"As hard as it is for many of you to believe, they were indeed TRYING. Also there were rumors circulating around that she was already pregnant."

Levi and Mercede Johnston in simpler times.

We're not sure what she means by that exactly, but a source close to both Bristol and Levi says that Mercede's shocking claims are totally false.

The source also claimed that Mercede's blog is being backed by well-known Sarah Palin hater, Jesse Griffin of "The Immoral Minority" blog fame.

"Mercede was put up by Jesse Griffin to do this blog," the insider said. "He is a Palin hater and is most likely behind all of these comments."

"Levi would never comment on something like this and neither would Bristol. Mercede's claims have been contradicted by [Levi's] statements."

After an acrimonious and very public break-up, Bristol and Levi have mended their turbulent, icy relationship and recently got back together.

We'll see if that lasts after Mercede apparently decided to turn on them both for reasons unknown. What the heck is wrong with these people?!

Fake engagements, court battles, baby mama drama and sabotaging a former V.P. candidate in the press. That was the life of Levi Johnston for the past year.

Despite all of that, he and Bristol Palin just got back together!

The parents of 18-month-old Tripp are making it work after all, despite breaking off their engagement in March 2009 and a prolonged period of icy relations.

Things have thawed considerably between the young parents in recent months, and "Bristol and Levi are still very close," a source close to Bristol tells Us.

The eldest daughter to former Alaskan Gov. Sarah Palin is "on her own in Anchorage" and she and Levi "spend more time together than most people think."

The expectant parents before the 2008 Republican National Convention.

Asked for comment, Bristol Palin would say only that "Levi and me are co-parents of Tripp and we are actively working on being good parents together."

Levi added: "Nothing is more important than Tripp. We are taking active steps to cooperatively raise him, sharing the joys and challenges of parenthood."

Earlier this year, Bristol said Levi was "a stranger to me," while Johnston told Entertainment Tonight that the Palins were basically trying to cut him out.

Things have changed since then, the Bristol source says, noting that "Bristol is a great mom and cares for Tripp; [she] and Levi are raising him together."

We couldn't be happier. Hope she makes good at that new abstinence pledge, though - we know she can get pregnant, but give it a few years at least.

Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with -- this isn't ideal. But I'm fortunate to have a supportive family, which is dealing with this together.
